Doris Parker

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Doris Dickerson Parker of 3517 Autumn Lake Drive died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Revs. James Holley and R.J. Roberts officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cool Branch Baptist Church cemetery in Fairfield County.

Mrs. Parker was retired from Cone Industries. She was a native of Fairfield County. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Eastern Star Coleman Chapter 261.

Surviving are her husband, Bobby J. Parker; her daughter, Lynn Dowdle of Rock Hill; her sister, Grace Holly of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 317 N. Jones Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29720 or to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Eula Taylor

BLACKSTOCK - Mrs. Eula McKeown Taylor, 83, of 1063-A Durham Road died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Blackstock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Lowe officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A homemaker, Mrs. Taylor was a member of Blackstock Baptist Church. She was the widow of Robert Brooks Taylor.

Surviving are two sons, Lucius W. Taylor of Blackstock and William Brooks Taylor of Mesa, Ariz.; her sister, Inez Cameron of Chester; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blackstock Baptist Church, 3693 Bethlehem Road, Blackstock, SC 29014.

Sylvester Williams

ROCK HILL - Mr. Sylvester Williams, 30, of 1103 Crawford Road died Sunday, July 12, 1998, in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. today at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ralph Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Williams was employed with General Tire Continental in Charlotte. He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School, where he was gifted in artistic abilities and won many awards. He was a member of Chestnut Grove AME Zion Church.

Surviving are his parents, Charlie R. Williams Sr. and Emma Ruth Williams, both of the home; two brothers, Charlie R. Williams Jr. of the home, and Bobby J. Williams of Rock Hill; and four sisters, Annie D. Williams and Emma Ruth Williams, both of the home, and Mary P. McCullough and Jeannette W. Williams, both of Rock Hill.

The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. today.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

George Adams Jr.

KERSHAW - Mr. George William Adams Jr., 77, of 111 West First St. died Friday, July 17, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Kershaw Church of God with the Revs. Delton Deese and Dennis Buchanan officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. Adams was retired from Springs Industries. He was a native of Jefferson.

Surviving are his wife, Rosa Lee Craig Adams; two sons, William L. "Billy" Adams and R. Carlyle Adams, both of Kershaw; his daughter, Sarah Lucas of Kershaw; three sisters, Grace Catoe of Kershaw, Ruth Adams and Georgia Hopkins, both of Great Falls; 12 grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Kershaw Church of God, P.O. Box 621, Kershaw, SC 29067.

David Dye Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. David Lee Dye Sr. of 415 Rich St. died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Claude Nesby officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetey.

Mr. Dye attended Emmett Scott High School. A native of York County, he attended Flint Hill Baptist Church at a young age. He once served as a Mason and was employed for more than 15 years at Celanese Corp.

Surviving are four sons, David Lee Dye Jr., William John Dye and Aregus Dye of Charlotte, and Willie Crank of Rock Hill; four daughters, Gloria Dye of Charlotte, Robert McMoore and Lynn Washington, both of Rock Hill, Peggy Lee Mason of Accokeek, Md.; two brothers, James Larry Dye of Rock Hill and John Ernest Dye of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Liz Thorne and Lucille Young, both of Silver Springs, Md.; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his aunt, Alberta Wright, 414 Rich St., Rock Hill.

Edger Flynn

LANCASTER - Mr. Edger Eugene Flynn, 76, died Friday, July 17, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Cauthen Funeral Home with the Revs. Kenny Coker and Mary Cox officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Flynn was a retired heavy equipment operator. He attended Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Molly Jane Knight Flynn; six sons, Bobby Flynn, Billy Flynn, Larry Flynn and Mike Flynn, all of Lancaster, Ronald Flynn and Scott Flynn, both of Indiana; his daughter, Carol A. Weston of Indiana; a stepson, John Whitaker of Mount Holly; two stepdaughters, Nettie Dawley and Peggy Bryson, both of Lancaster; his brother, Henry Wallace of Kershaw; his sister, Mrs. J.E. Self of West Columbia; 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at 4722 Camp Creek Road, Lancaster.

Pauline Harkey

COLUMBIA - Pauline Francis Lee "Polly" Harkey, 94, of Columbia, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, July 16, 1998.

Mrs. Harkey worked as a seamstress for Haltiwangers and Louries clothing stores and, after retirement, served as house mother at the Lillie Harden Nurses' home at Baptist Hospital. She was a resident of Finlay House.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia, where she taught Sunday school and worked in the library and the International and Prayer ministries. She also did volunteer work with the state Department of Mental Health and the Washington Street Methodist Church Soup Kitchen.

Surviving are her sons, Clifton Lee Harkey of Columbia, Dr. Joseph Harkey of Virginia Beach, Va; a daughter, Mary Eva Haak of Elgin, Ill.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 800 Leesburg Road in Columbia from 2 to 3 p.m. today, followed by a memorial service in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. and burial at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill at approximately 5 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Family Life Center Fund, Box 1000, Columbia, S.C. 29202.
