Claude Irby

ROCK HILL - Mr. Claude Lee "Buddy" Irby, 83, of 734 Edgemont Ave. died Friday, July 17, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Lando Cemetery in Lando, with the Rev. Tim McClendon officiating.

A native of Lando, Mr. Irby was retired from the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co., where he was a supervisor in the packing department. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church since 1946, where he belonged to the A.M. Graham Sunday school class and was scout master for the church's Palmetto Boy Scout Council. He was a member of the Elks Club for more than 50 years and was 1990-91 Elk of the Year. He was president of the Golden K Kiwanis Club in 1992-93, a member of the Moose Lodge and Fewell Park Bridge Club. He received the Silver Beaver Award and worked with Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are his wife, Emmie D. Irby; his daughter, Eilene I. Morgan of Spartanburg; two brothers, Ray Irby and Ernest Irby, both of Edgemoor; and his sister, Margaret Worthy of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church building fund, 321 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to the Elks National Home, 931 Ashland Ave., Bedford, VA 24523.

William Lineberger

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. William Luther "Bill" "Nub" Lineberger, 72, of 110 Redwood Lane died Friday, July 17, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Chapel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. James A. Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery.

Mr. Lineberger was a native of Gaston County. He was a retired textile parts salesman and a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Currence Lineberger; his son, William Jackson of Gastonia; his daughter, Eugenia Roxanne Jones of Gastonia; his brother, Jack Lineberger of York; three sisters, Juanita Bolin of Stanley, N.C., Lucienne Curren of Foxbury, Mass., and Betty Gray Howe of Gastonia; and his grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at McLean and Son Funeral Home in Gastonia.

E.G. Matthews Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ernest Gary Matthews Jr. of 5851 Mount Gallant Road died Friday, July 17, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Shelton P. Sanford III and William A. Fox Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

Mr. Matthews was retired from the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and was a farmer. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Woodmen of the World and the C.C. Camp.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Matthews; four sons, Gary Matthews, Freddie B. Matthews, Dennis W. Matthews, and Thomas R. Matthews, all of Rock Hill; two sisters, Naomi Rhodes of Macon, Ga. and Louise Norris of Columbia; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Juanita McNeal

NEW YORK - Mrs. Juanita Bowens McNeal, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, in New York.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Juanita McNeil

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Juanita B. McNeil, 84, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, in Wyandanch, N.Y.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.B. White officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Born in Kershaw County, Mrs. McNeil was educated in the Kershaw public schools. She attended the New Light Baptist Church in New York and was an active member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.

She was the widow of Louis McNeil.

Surviving are six daughters, Lois Fair and Renee McNeil of Wyandanch, N.Y., Geneva Dunlap of Hopkins, Frances Smith of Rock Hill, Thelma Davis of Springfield Gardens, N.Y., and Gloria Ann Neely of Fountain Inn; two sons, George McNeil and Otis McNeil of Rock Hill; 37 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 1205 Green St. Extension and 1044 Martin St.

Delford Moss

CLOVER - Mr. Delford Franklin Moss, 57, of 1985 Highway 321 North, died Monday, July 13, 1998, at home.

A graveside service was Friday at Bethel Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Mr. Moss was a custom car painter.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Moss of Lake Wylie; two sons, Steve Moss of York and Michael Propst of Clover; his daughter, Kathy Ledford of York; two brothers, James Moss of Charlotte and Floyd "Toots" Moss of Clover; his sister, Ollie Dover of York; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Hope Tract Ministries, P.O. Box 609, York, SC 29745.

Dianne Myers

FORT MILL - Mrs. Dianne Marie Myers, 47, of 1095 East Highway 160 died Thursday, July 16, 1998.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church with the Rev. Claude Kayler officiating.

A native of Brisbane, Australia, Mrs. Myers was employed with Lance Corp. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Charles Myers; three sons, Anthony Graham Myers of Columbia, Andrew Mark Myers of Monroe, N.C., and David Samuel Myers of Fort Mill; her daughter, Vanessa Jane Myers of Fort Mill; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Jenner of Australia; and her grandchild.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Harold Alderson

BLACKSTOCK - Mr. Harold Carl Alderson, 78, of 1728 Boyd Road, died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Mr. Alderson was a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. He also worked as a golf professional at Chester Golf Course.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Alderson; his son, Phillip C. Alderson of Roswell, Ga.; his sister, Virginia Ann Showfety of Greensboro, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Youth Fund, 1660 Pleasant Grove Road, Chester, SC 29706.
