Thomas Drummond

ROCK HILL - Mr. Thomas Lewis Drummond, 71, of 960 Susan Circle died Saturday, July 18, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Landford Funeral Home in Woodruff, with the Revs. Larry Gregory and Ned Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Greenpond Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Drummond was a retired supervisor with Du Pont Savannah River Operation. He attended West End Baptist Church in Rock Hill. He was a graduate of Clemson University and a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Claudette Plott Drummond; his son, Thomas Benton Drummond of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Sharon Oliver of Rock Hill, Theresa Blosser of Nashville, Tenn., and Linda Esser of Pleasanton, Calif.; his brother, Allan Drummond of Spartanburg; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lanford Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Douglas and Sharon Oliver, 968 Susan Circle, Rock Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Melvin Harre

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - Mr. Melvin E. Harre, 92, of Leavenworth, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, at County Care in Easton, Kan.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Platte City Cemetery, Platte City, Mo.

Mr. Harre was an International Harvester dealer in Farly, Mo., for many years. He retired in 1978 from Allis Chalmers Dealership in Leavenworth. He was the widower of Wilma L. Prussman Harre. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his son, Jim Harre of Camden; his brother, Walter Harre of Macon, Mo.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davis Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Leavenworth, 218 Choctaw, Leavenworth, KS 66048.

Cameron Hunt

CHARLOTTE - Cameron Maurice Hunt, the infant son of Sharrika Misenheimer of Charlotte and Maurice Santwan Hunt Sr. of Rock Hill died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

Burial was at Silver Mount Baptist Church Cemetery in Charlotte.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Jamarion Misenheimer of Charlotte and Maurice Santwan Hunt Jr. of Rock Hill; two sisters, Destiny Misenheimer of Charlotte and Crystal Douglas of Rock Hill; his paternal grandmother, Cynthia Hunt White of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandparents, Linda and Joseph Misenheimer of Charlotte.

Family Mortuary was in charge.

Pauline Nelson

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Pauline Roddey Nelson, 80, formerly of 800 Chester Ave., died Monday, July 20, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrell Twitty officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson was the widow of Andrew Jackson Nelson. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and attended Great Falls schools. She was retired from J.P. Stevens.

Surviving are her brother, Henry Roddey of Great Falls.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

John Nivens Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. John Robert Nivens Sr., 79, of 3934 Crestview Drive died Monday, July 20, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Paul W. Harmon officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Nivens was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church and retired from J.P. Stevens Co. after 42 years of service. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Strait Nivens; his son, John Robert "Bobby" Nivens Jr. of Lesslie; his daughter, Betty Anne Hutcherson of Landrum; his brother, William A. Nivens of Rock Hill; his sister, Lola N. Shugart of Fort Mill; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 1691 W. Highway 160, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Bruce White (1 of 2)

ROCK HILL - Mr. Bruce Harger White of 1072 Neal St. died Sunday, July 19, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Steve Reynolds officiating.

Mr. White was a disabled Vietnam veteran and served in the Army.

Surviving are his mother, Lena W. McManus of Rock Hill; and two brothers, Joe R. White and Paul Patrick White Jr., both of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the home of Joe White, 1033 Chandler Drive, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Rogers Memorial ARP Church, 1820 Eden Terrace, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Bruce White (2 of 2)

ROCK HILL - Mr. Bruce Arger White, 48, of 1072 Neal St. died Sunday, July 19, 1998, at home.

The graveside service will be 4 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Steve Reynolds officiating.

Mr. White served in the Army and was a disabled Vietnam War veteran.

Surviving are his mother, Lena W. McManus of Rock Hill; and two brothers, Joe R. White and Paul Patrick White Jr., both of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the home of Joe White, 1033 Chandler Drive, Rock Hill.

Thelma Hines

SHARON - Mrs. Thelma Byrum Hines, 74, of 2928 Shannon St. died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The graveside service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Phillips officiating and the Rev. Phil Lemmons assisting.

A homemaker, Mrs. Hines was the widow of James H. Hines Sr. She was a native of York and a member of Sharon United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Ernest Lee Hines and John Robert Hines, both of Sharon, and James H. Hines Jr. of York; her brother, Ernest Byrum Jr. of Hickory Grove; two sisters, Mary Jane Byrum and Mattie Sue B. Mullinax, both of Hickory Grove; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church, 3001 Shannon St., Sharon, SC 29742; or to Hickory Grove Life Saving Squad, P.O. Box 224, Hickory Grove, SC 29717.

Bobby Howze Sr.

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Bobby E. "Ed" Howze Sr. of 2670 Georgetown Road died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Nebo AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Sam Latta III officiating and the Rev. Gary W. Smith assisting. The Rev. Charles D. Crockett will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Howze was a member of the Mount Vernon AME Zion Church. He attended Chester County public schools and was a former employee of Springs Industries.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Young Howze; three daughters, Mattie F. Howze and Glenda H. Wright, both of Columbia, and Mary Howze of Great Falls; three sons, Bobby E. Howze Jr. and Shawn McFadden, both of Lancaster, and Ray A. Howze of Great Falls; his parents, Roosevelt Howze and Annie B. Crockett Howze of Edgemoor; two brothers, William B. Howze of Charlotte and David Lee Howze of Lancaster; five sisters, Mary Dantzler and Rosa H. Booker, both of Charlotte, Della J. Howze of Chester, Elizabeth H. Dorn of Edgefield and Annie F. Howze of Columbia; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home in Great Falls.
