Robert Laucella

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. - Mr. Robert Paul Laucella of Hendersonville, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at Margaret Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.

Mr. Laucella was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Surviving are four sons, Robert Laucella, Donald Laucella, Danny Laucella and Clay Laucella, all of California; three sisters, Vera Gustafson of New York, and Rita Payne and Connie Bondersec, both of Hendersonville; and three grandchildren.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Lena McManus

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lena White McManus, 77, of 1072 Neal St. died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Burial was at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. McManus was a York County native. She was retired from the American Thread Co. and was a member of Rogers Memorial ARP Church.

Surviving are two sons, Joe R. White and Patrick White, both of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rogers Memorial ARP Church, 1820 Eden Terrace.

Alberta Privette

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Alberta Harvell Privette, 78, of 1742 Mount Gallant Road died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Lesslie Church of God, with the Rev. Lafon Hardy officiating and the Rev. T.I. Bass assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Privette was a retiree of J.P. Stevens Industrial Plant in Rock Hill. She was a charter member of Lesslie Church of God, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was clerk until 1986. She was the widow of Yancey Privette.

Surviving are two sons, Johnnie L. Privette of Rock Hill and Melvin Y. Privette of Fort Mill; three daughters, Jacqueline P. Wright and Teta P. Hooper, both of Rock Hill, and Betty P. Willis of McConnells; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Jacqueline P. Wright, 652 E. Rambo Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Lesslie Church of God, 2357 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Viola Shelmire

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Viola Hobensack Shelmire, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Wilson Busick officiating.

Mrs. Shelmire was a member of Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church for more than 20 years.

Surviving are her son, Larry Shelmire of Rock Hill; her daughter, Doris Lucera of Pennsylvania; her brother, Charles Hobensack of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Ethel Talley of West Virginia and Ruth Arthur of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Larry Shelmire, 2554 Fishing Creek Road.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

John Stroud

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. John T. "Tim" Stroud, 58, of 691 Boyd Faile Road died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Glenn Carter, Steve Neal and John Mullis officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Stroud was retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Faile Stroud; his son, Timmy Stroud of Lancaster; five daughters, Timbra Cole, Crystal Byrd, Robyn Stroud and Wendy Deese, all of Heath Springs, and Lisa Reeves Knight of Myrtle Beach; six sisters, Essie Bowers and Terry Sigmon, both of Kershaw, Shirley Faulkenberry of Pageland, Margaret Sims and Betty Flannigan, both of Lancaster, and Peggy Williams of Mount Holly, N.C.; and 14 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home.

Annie Walker

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Annie Walker of 1661 Hall Spencer Road died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home, with Brother Charles Watkins officiating and Brother Allen Russell assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Walker was a native of York County. She was a retired employee of Winthrop University. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a member of the AP&B Society and she attended the public schools of York County.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas L. Walker of Jacksonville, Fla., and James O. Barber of Rock Hill; two sisters, Lethia Moffatt of Rock Hill and Mary Moffatt of Baltimore; two grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Cordoza White

FORT MILL - Mr. Cordoza "Boy" White, 96, of 1391 Banks Road died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carlwell Culp officiating and the Revs. Lincoln Lee, Loretta Adams, Jimmy Alexander, Melvin Douglas, Russell Moore, Ray Thompson, M.H. Baxter, Kerry White and Evangelist Johnson assisting. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.

Mr. White was employed at Jake Audrey Lumber Co. and Okay Lumber Co. for many years. He also worked for the Culp family at the former Esso Service Station and grocery store on Spratt Street, where he retired.

Surviving are his wife, Lucy R. White; two sons, Cordoza White Jr. of the home and Warren White of Fort Mill; his daughter, Pearlie W. Turner of Charlotte; his brother, Albert White of Fort Mill; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Bethlehem Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Thursday.

Louise Wyatt

YORK - Mrs. Louise McDaniel Wyatt, 79, of 111 S. Congress St. died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Canaan United Methodist Church in Symrna, with the Rev. Will Brown officiating and the Rev. Al Daniel assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Wyatt retired from Oxford Manufacturing Co. in Hickory Grove as an inspector. She was the widow of Hurbert Lee Wyatt and was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Billy H. Wyatt of York, George Donald Wyatt of Smyrna and Gene E. Wyatt of Sharon; her daughter, Betty W. Moore of Charlotte; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Kelsie Bennett

HEATH SPRINGS - Mrs. Kelsie Hunter Bennett, 76, of 307 W. Canton St. died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Heath Springs Baptist Church, with the Revs. Warren Johnson and Cullen Porter officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Bennett was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church. She was the widow of Coke Hammond Bennett.

Surviving are her son, Danny C. Bennett of Heath Springs; four daughters, Judy Phillips of Heath Springs, Debra B. Ingram of Little River, Lois Porter of Jewell, Ga., and Lynn Bennett of Rock Hill; her brother, Sammie Hunter of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.
