Lauren Cauthen

NORTH AUGUSTA - Miss Lauren Jeanette Cauthen, 13, of 103 Knotty Pine Drive died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in Augusta, Ga.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Friday at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Heath Springs.

Miss Cauthen was a rising eighth-grade student at Paul Knox Middle School, where she was in the Soar program and played percussion in the school band. She was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta, where she was in Handbells, the Middle School Choir and the Youth Prayer Group.

Surviving are her parents, Gary L. and Cindy Cauthen; her sister, Regan Cauthen of North Augusta; and her paternal grandmother, Barbara Cauthen of Heath Springs.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Rowland Funeral Home in North Augusta.

Memorials may be made to the youth ministry of First Baptist Church, 602 Georgia Ave., North Augusta, SC 29841.

Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster, is in charge of local arrangements.

Elizabeth Crenshaw

YORK - Mrs. Elizabeth M. Crenshaw, 65, of 13 Cannon Court died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Pineville AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Eugene Goodwin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. She was the widow of Thomas Crenshaw.

Mrs. Crenshaw was a former housekeeper at York General Hospital and Fort Mill High School. She was a member of Pineville AME Zion Church, where she served in the Missionary Society. She attended York County public schools.

Surviving are two sons, Mitchell Lee Crenshaw and Sylvester Earl Crenshaw, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Maggie Louise Mitchell of Rock Hill; four brothers, Sumpter Mitchell and Hope Mitchell, both of Rock Hill, and J.C. Mitchell and Joe Mitchell, both of Charlotte; five sisters, Eloise Starr, Janie Hemphill and Patricia Marshall, all of Rock Hill, and Helen Harper and Frances Barber, both of Greensboro, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1221 Haynes Street.

The body may be viewed from noon to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Parker Funeral Home in Rock Hill.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Friday.

Ralph Gregory Sr.

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Ralph Edward Gregory Sr., 70, of Mitford Highway died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Mount Dearborn United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tony Medlin officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. today at Whitmire Cemetery in Whitmire.

Mr. Gregory was former personnel director for J.P. Stevens Co., at Great Falls plants 1 and 2. He was a Navy veteran, a graduate of Whitmire High School and attended Newberry College. He was a member of Mount Dearborn United Methodist Church, where he was chairman of the administrative board, a Sunday school teacher and trustee. He was a member of Great Falls Lions Club and Great Falls Masonic Lodge 277. He previously was on the board of Republic Federal Credit Union.

Surviving are his wife, Betty McCall Gregory; his son, Ralph E. "Eddie" Gregory Jr. of Great Falls; two daughters, Terri Lockee of Cheraw and Melinda Hewett of Rock Hill; his father, Henry Gregory of Whitmire; his brother, Charles "Tommy" Gregory of Whitmire; five grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Mount Dearborn United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 246, Great Falls, SC 29055.

Eli Lyles Sr.

BALTIMORE"- Mr. Eli "Buster" Lyles Sr., 82, of East Baltimore, formerly of Fairfield County, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Church Hospital in Baltimore.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at March Funeral Home, 1101 E. North Ave. Burial will be in Baltimore.

Mr. Lyles was a native of Fairfield County. He was the widower of Leola Wright Lyles.

Surviving are five son, Eli Lyles Jr., Johnny Lyles, Dennis Lyles, Mark Lyles and Darrin Lyles, all of Baltimore; two daughters, Norma Free of Columbia and Donna Denise Boye of Beltsville, Md.; two brothers, Robert Lyles of Blair and Johnny Lyles of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Annie McConnell of Winnsboro, Esther Wilson of Blair and Mattie Robinson of Chester; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

King's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Betty Neal

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Mrs. Betty E. Hunt Neal, 53, of 27 Martin Luther King Ave. died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carl L. Allen officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Morristown.

Mrs. Neal was a native of Rock Hill. She was dietary supervisor for Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Township, N.J., where she retired after 24 years service. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, James. W. Neal Jr. of Landover, Md.; three daughters, Lora J. Hunt-Siders of Morristown, N.J., Pamela V. Neal-Gray of Dover, N.J., and Susan D. Brooks of Greenville; six brothers, Robert L. Hunt, James Hunt, Pride Hunt Sr., Franklin R. Hunt and Lewis Hunt Jr., all of Rock Hill, and Joe L. Hunt of Nassau, N.Y.; three sisters, Vinnie L. Brice of Morristown, N.J., and Bertha Wallace and Joanne Lowry, both of Rock Hill; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Union Baptist Church.

Rowe Funeral Home, 71 Washington St., Morristown, N.J., is in charge.

Alberta Privette

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Alberta Harvell Privette, 78, of 1742 Mount Gallant Road died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Lesslie Church of God, with the Rev. Lafon Hardy officiating and the Rev. T.I. Bass assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Privette was a retiree of J.P. Stevens Industrial Plant in Rock Hill. She was a charter member of Lesslie Church of God, where she was a Sunday school teacher and was clerk until 1986. She was the widow of Yancey Privette.

Surviving are two sons, Johnnie L. Privette of Rock Hill and Melvin Y. Privette of Fort Lawn; three daughters, Jacqueline P. Wright and Teta P. Hooper, both of Rock Hill, and Betty P. Willis of McConnells; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Lesslie Church of God, 2357 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Annie Walker

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Annie Ruth Barber Walker of 1661 Hall Spencer Road died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home, with Brother Charles Watkins officiating and Brother Allen Russell assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Walker was a native of York County. She was a retired employee of Winthrop University. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, the AP&B Society, and she attended York County public schools.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas L. Walker of Jacksonville, Fla., and James Robert Walker of Rock Hill; her brother, James O. Barber of Rock Hill; two sisters, Lethia Moffatt of Rock Hill and Mary Moffatt of Baltimore; two grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Cordoza White

FORT MILL - Mr. Cordoza "Boy" White, 96, of 1391 Banks Road died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carlwell Culp officiating and the Revs. Lincoln Lee, Loretta Adams, Jimmy Alexander, Melvin Douglas, Russell Moore, Ray Thompson, M.H. Baxter, Kerry White and Evangelist Johnson assisting. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.

Mr. White was employed at Jake Audrey Lumber Co. and Okay Lumber Co. for many years. He also worked for the Culp family at the former Esso Service Station and grocery store on Spratt Street, where he retired.

Surviving are his wife, Lucy R. White; two sons, Cordoza White Jr. of the home and Warren White of Fort Mill; his daughter, Pearlie W. Turner of Charlotte; his brother, Albert White of Fort Mill; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The body will be placed in the church at noon today.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge.
