Edward Beck

YORK - Mr. Edward Beck, 65, of 2390 Kingsberry Road died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, Southside Chapel, in Gastonia, N.C., with the Rev. Arthur Beck officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

Mr. Beck was retired from R. L. Stowe in Belmont, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita Ashley Beck; two sons, Mark Edward Beck and Bobby Joe Beck, both of Gastonia, N.C.; two daughters, Norma Jean Barrett of Gastonia, N.C., and Lori Ann Cochran of Dalton, Ga.; three stepdaughters, Lenore Potts of Dallas, Texas, Beverly Guiron of Jacksonville, Fla., and Crystal Blair of York; four brothers, Robert Beck of Laurens, Alton Beck of Woodruff, J. Hardman Beck of Greycourt and Roy Beck of Spartanburg; three sisters, Melbalee Thomas of Laurens, Willie Nell Wattsford of Manning and Annie Belle Smith of Greycourt; nine grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Green Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, and at other times at home.

Larry Boyd

ST. LOUIS - Mr. Larry D. Boyd, 45, of 4025 Shreve St., formerly of Clover, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at St. Louis Hospital.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church cemetery in Clover, with the Revs. W.T. Massey and Charlie Mason officiating.

Mr. Boyd was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Alice Boyd of Atlanta; three sons, Laroyd D. Boyd and Lamar Boyd, both of Atlanta, and Larry D. Boyd Jr. of Charlotte; his daughter, Lashanda Boyd of Atlanta; his mother, Johnnie Mae Boyd of Clover; seven brothers, Robert Seigle of Gastonia, N.C., Johnny Boyd of St. Louis, Vernie Boyd and Gary Boyd, both of Clover, and Ardean Boyd, Mack Boyd and Jerry Boyd, all of Charlotte; three sisters, Cassandra Mason of Gastonia, N.C., and Shelia Barnett and Wanda Burris, both of Clover.

The family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church and at other times at the home of his mother, 605 Sumter St. Extension, Clover.

Costner Funeral Home is in charge.

Grover Collins

ROCK HILL - Mr. Grover C. Collins of 3630 Reid Road died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Bass Funeral Home.

Marshall Covert

ROCK HILL - Mr. Marshall Warren Covert, 30, of 3050 Country Oaks Road died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Shelton Sanford III and William A. Fox Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Mr. Covert was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church and was a mechanic for Burns Chevrolet.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Marie Covert; his mother, Kathy Covert Martin of Kingsburg, N.J.; three brothers, Michael Allender of Tinton Falls, N.J., and Charlie Logan Covert and Brian Covert, both of Long Branch, N.J.; and his sister, Shannon Kramarcik of Sanford, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Westminister Presbyterian Church, 1800 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 27932.

James Crump Sr.

CHARLOTTE - Mr. James Steven Crump Sr., 61, of 4416 Hovis Road died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Revs. L.J. Mills and Sammy Case officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery West.

Mr. Crump was a member of Gloryland Baptist Church, a veteran of the Navy, and a member of the American Legion Post 353 in Paw Creek. He was a material handler for the Constar International Corp.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Messer Crump; three sons, Steven Phillips of Granite Falls, N.C., and James S. Crump Jr. and Garrett F. Ferrell, both of Charlotte; four daughters, Marjorie L. Ferrell of Pageland, Denise C. Keene of High Point, N.C., Camille S. Sain of Concord, and Kristina Crump of Charlotte; his brother, Robert T. Crump of Sharon; his sister, Margie Woods of Charlotte; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Curtis Deese

MONROE, N.C. - Mr. Curtis L. Deese, 65, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev Kitral Benton officiating.

Mr. Deese was a textile supervisor for Springs Industries He was also a veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Lee Hargette Deese; two sons, Tommy Deese of Monroe and Donald Deese of Fort Mill; three daughters, Joyce Baucom and Donna Griffin, both of Monroe, and Sandra Wright of Pageland; his mother, Etta Simpson of Monroe; six brothers, Carson Deese, Jimmy Deese, Richard Deese, Johnny Deese, and Donald Wayne Deese, all of Monroe, and Robert Deese of Kannapolis, N.C.; three sisters, Barbara Staton and Beulah Hilton, both of Monroe, and Florence McCall of Pageland; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Davis Funeral Home in Monroe.

Annie Gwinn

WOODRUFF - Mrs. Annie Mae Wilder Gwinn, 91, of Woodruff died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Wesley Manor in Dotham, Ala.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lanford Funeral Home, with the Rev. Andrew Shull officiating. Burial will be at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Gwinn was a homemaker and the widow of Nelson S. Gwinn Sr. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodruff and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her sister, Jennie Lee W. Crocker of Woodruff; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lanford Funeral Home.

Dorothy Harper

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dorothy Oates Harper, 72, of 922 Hands Mill Road died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Tirzah Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James Gable officiating. Burial will be at the Tirzah ARP Church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Harper was a member of Tirzah Presbyterian Church since 1946, where she was an elder, Sunday school teacher, a lifetime member of Presbyterian Women and served on several Presbytery committees. Mrs. Harper attended nurses training and was a nurse at Old York General Hospital.

Surviving are her husband, Isaac B. Harper; three daughters, Margaret Fouse of Great Falls, Patrician Drennan of Blue Ridge, Va., and Terry Harper of Rock Hill; three brothers, Boyce Oates and David Oates, both of York, and Howard Oates of Belton; two sisters, Nancy Baker of Rock Hill and Agnes Channell of York; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Tirzah Presbyterian Church building fund, 180 Tirzah Road, York, SC 29745.

Floy Harper

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Floy Dunlap Harper, 74, of 340 Farmwood Lane died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tirzah Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James Gable officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Harper was a homemaker. She was a member of Tirzah Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder, a member of the Evening Circle and active in the Presbyterian Women. She was retired from Charlotte Meat Center.

Surviving are her husband, James E. Harper; her son, Edward Love Harper of Rock Hill; her daughter, Carol Harper Boatwright of Rock Hill; her stepmother, Mana Dunlap of Wilmington, N.C.; her brother, Harry Dunlap Jr. of Pendleton; her sister, Malou Stokes of Wilmington, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.
