Jonathan Shrum

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jonathan Mark Shrum of 306 Grady Drive died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, in Columbia.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cauthen Funeral Home.

Stone Scott

DENTON, N.C. - Stone Randolph Scott, infant son of Marc Randolph Scott and Shannon Bonté Nichols, of 5670 Clyde Graves Circle, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Women's Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Leroy Cox officiating.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his paternal grandmother, Avis G. Scott of North Myrtle Beach; his maternal grandparents, Henry H. and Judy I. Nichols of Rock Hill; and his maternal great-grandmother, Tessie Price of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his aunt, Stacey Bolin, 2130 Rosewood Drive, Rock Hill.

Bonnie Self

YORK - Mrs. Bonnie McClean Self, 93, of 117 Charlotte St., died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia, N.C., with the Rev. Shady Lane officiating.

Mrs. Self was the widow of Lester Self.

Surviving are her three sons, Bryson A. Self of York, and James W. Self and Marvin S. Self, both of Gastonia, N.C.; her sister, Ida Mae Holbrook of Cherryville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Gaston County, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28053.

Greene Funeral Service, Southside Chapel, is in charge.

Claude Childers

HICKORY GROVE - Mr. Claude Childers of 2031 Chestnut St. died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by York Funeral Home.

J. Alfred Smith

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Alfred "Al" Smith, 80, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Glencairn Garden, with the Rev. Edsel Bryan officiating. Burial will be private.

Mr. Smith was a retired independent truck driver. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4196 in Poplarville, Miss., an Army veteran of World War II and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his son, Mike Smith of Rock Hill; his stepson, Rex Reecer of Missouri; his stepdaughter, Sherry Spivey Sparks of Bloomington, Ill.; his sister, Mary Ellen Altum of Decatur, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the memorial service.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Ann Zacharski

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ann Beatrice "Aunt Tootsie" Zacharski of White Oak Manor died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cross Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.E. Boulware officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Zacharski, a native of York County, lived in Chicago for many years, where she was a member of the True Temple of Solomon. She was a retired laundress and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Stanley Zacharski; her son, Stanley Zacharski of Rock Hill; two daughters, Lucille Jefferson of Bellwood, Ill., and Sandra Harris of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the church.

Clemons Funeral Home is in charge.

George Beckham

BALTIMORE - Mr. George Beckham died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, in Baltimore.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Clemons Funeral Home.

Irene Carlyon

TEGA CAY - Mrs. Irene Frances Carlyon, 58, of 11020 Seven Coves Drive died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at home.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Charlotte, with the Rev. Claude Kayler officiating.

A native of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Carlyon was an accountant with Creative Temporary Services in Charlotte. She attended the University of Washington. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and attended Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Charlotte.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas F. Carlyon; her son, Keith Carlyon of Charlotte; her daughter, Kris Blackley of Charlotte; her mother, Thelma Cochrane of Charlotte; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 500 Morehead St., Charlotte, NC 28208.

Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia, N.C., is in charge.

John Coleman

McCONNELLS - Mr. John Henry Coleman, 88, of McConnells, fomerly of Newell, N.C., died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Long & Son Mortuary on Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. John T. McCoy officiating.

Frances Deese

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Frances Grace Gordon Deese, 70, of 317 N. Jones St. died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 7 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be at Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Deese was retired from Yarn Industries in Pageland. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and the widow of Buck Steen.

Surviving is her sister, Elaine McMurray of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends after the service and at other times times at the home of Elaine McMurray, 329 Hutchinson St., Rock Hill.

Willie Douglas

ROCK HILL - Mr. Willie Douglas of 327 Fewell St. died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral arrangements wil be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Sarah Hardin

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sarah S. Hardin of 4191 Erby Road died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.
