Sonny Kennington

ROCK HILL - Mr. Sonny Jim Kennington, 61, of 214 Willwood Circle died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Huddleston officiating and the Rev. Mark Collins assisting.

A native of York County, Mr. Kennington was a retired owner of Sonny's Dutch Mill Restaurant and was a former owner of the Friendly Grill. He was an U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn C. Kennington; three sons, John Benjamin Kennington and Lee Anthony "Tony" Kennington, both of the home, and Wesley Hayes Kennington of Rock Hill; three sisters, Margaret K. Poole and Betty K. Williams, both of Rock Hill, and Mildred K. Robinson of Columbus, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Memorial may be made to Catawba Baptist Church, 2639 Catawba Church Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Lola Long

PAGELAND - Mrs. Lola "Loree" West Long, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998.

A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. today at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home in Chesterfield.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Long was a retired employee of Lance Co. She was a member of Wesley Hill Baptist Church. She was the widow of Harry Frederick Long.

Surviving are a niece and nephew with whom she lived, Edith and Harold Griffin; her daughter, Harri Ann Caskey of Baltimore, Md., her brother, John West of Las Vegas, Nev.; her sister, Nettie Jones of Fort Mill; and three grandchildren.

Myrtle Lowery

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Myrtle Louise Lowery, 80, of 2999 Glenstone Drive died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jimmy Holley, Jerry Devinney, Mike Lowery and James A. Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lowery was a native of Spartanburg. She was retired from Hoechst Celanese after 21 years. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and an Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons, the Rev. James A. Lowery of Gastonia, N.C., and Paul Edward Lowery of Spartanburg; two daughters, Doris Deas of Rock Hill and Betty Cameron of York; two brothers, James Lawing of Cowpens and Sam Lawing of Spartanburg; her sister, Eula Mae Phillips Smith of Gaffney; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Doris Deas, 2999 Glenstone Drive, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church building fund, 318 N. Jones Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Terry McCahill

TEGA CAY - Mr. Terry Earl McCahill, 62, of 16002 Molokai Drive, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Meadow Haven Nursing Home in Rock Hill.

A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, with Father John Giuliani officiating. A memorial service will be held later in McKeesport, Pa.

Mr. McCahill worked for U.S. Steel Fairless in Fairless, Pa., and Feralloy Corp. in Wilmington, Del. He served in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from Ryder University in New Jersey. He was a member of St. Philip Neri Parish in Fort Mill.

Surviving are his son, Gene McCahill of Delmar, Md.; his daughter, Lee Ann Brown of Boston, Pa.; his mother, Luana N. McCahill of Bayonet Point, Fla.; and his companion, Freddie H. Cook.

The family will receive friends after the memorial Mass.

Memorials may be made to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715 or to Tega Cay Rescue Squad, 700 Tega Cay Drive, Tega Cay, SC 29715.

Fred McClure

CLOVER - Mr. Fred McClure, 62, of 727 Sumter St. Extension died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York with the Rev. George McCoy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home in York.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Everett Millikin

FORT MILL - Mr. Everett Millikin, 84, of 111 W. Lockman St. died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Revs Robert C. Monson and Dan Holloway officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Hamlet, Mr. Millikin was owner and operator of Plaza Press Printing Co. in Charlotte, which later became Engraph, Inc. He attended Newberry College, where he was captain of the football team. He served in World War II and was a member of the Navy Seabees in the Pacific region. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Gamble Millikin; his daughter, Sandra Millikin Biggers of Fort Mill; two grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Louise Morehouse

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Louise Johnson Morehouse, 84, of Columbia, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Rock Hill. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Rock Hill.

Mrs. Morehouse was a registered nurse, Red Cross volunteer, past president of the South Carolina Medical Auxiliary and a member of St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Ridgeway. She was a former active member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior for 36 years.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jane M. Lever of Columbia; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Talbert-Shives Funeral Home in Columbia.

George Sanders

CHESTER - Mr. George Joe Sanders, 80, of 109 Murray St. died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Washington officiating. Pastor Bernard Morris will deliver the euolgy and will be assisted by the Revs. Sandra Sistare and Douglas Morris.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Sanders was a Chester native and attended the public schools of Chester County. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Earlene W. Sanders; three sons, King Sanders and the Rev. Frank Sanders, both of Chester, and Douglas Sanders of New York; four daughters, Marie Chisholm, Hazel Fulton, Lillie Price and Felicia Cloud, all of Chester; his brother, Hood Sanders of Chester; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at King's Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Robert Simpson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Simpson, 47, of 761 Jefferson Ave. died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Brown officiating. The Rev. E.E. Vance will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Simpson was employed with Interstate Roofing Co. in Charlotte. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He was a native of York County and attended Fairfield School.

Surviving are his wife, Naomi Mabry Simpson; five sisters, Hazel Stevens of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mary Simpson, Bernice Chalk, Eva Simpson and Barbara S. Hughes, all of Rock Hill; and two brothers, James Simpson and Charles Simpson, both of Rock Hill.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Parker Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
