Jack Hyatt

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Mr. Jack L. Hyatt, 66, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Lando, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at Leigh Memorial Hospital in Norfolk, Va., after a brief illness.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Hyatt was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was an officer for the Washington, D.C., police department and was a retired U.S. Marshal. He was a member of the Lando Baptist Church in Lando.

Surviving are his wife, Ann C. Hyatt; two daughters, Pamela H. Hutchins of San Diego, and Susan H. Grandstaff, both of Virginia Beach; his brother, Clarence Hyatt of Great Falls; four sisters, Virginia Drakeford of Rock Hill, Ida Black of Lando, Dot Bailey of Chester, and Genelle Pendergrass of Catawba; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Zackery Lilly

YORK - Zackery Woodrow Lilly, the infant son of Bert and Mary Lilly of 7010 Campbell Road, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery, with Father Joesph Wahl officiating.

Surviving in addition to his parents are four grandparents, James F. and Juanita Williams of Rock Hill, and Hubert and Margaret Lilly of Rock Hill; two great-grandmothers, Esther Lilly of Rock Hill and Jane Moore of Maryland and a great-grandfather, Richard Bernhardt of Racine, Wis.

The family will receive friends after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the March of Dimes, 339 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Judge Lindsey

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Mr. Judge Lindsey, 84, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at Bristol Nursing Home.

Burial was at National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn.

Born in Lamar County, Ala., Mr. Lindsey moved to Bristol from South Carolina in 1979. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II. A retired truck driver, he was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are three daughters, Carol Criminger and Linda Lindsey, both of Rock Hill, and Kay Falls of Kings Creek; two sisters, Edna Webb of Hamilton, Ala., and Victory Sandlin of Sulligent, Ala.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge.

Magdalene Moore

CHESTER - Mrs. Magdalene Killian Moore, 75, of 126 Memorial Drive died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Second Wilson Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.M. Bryson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Moore was a Chester native and attended public schools in Chester County. She was a deaconess, choir member and a member of the CBNA Society No. 8. She was a homemaker and was the widow of Rufus M. Moore Sr.

Surviving are four sons, Zachariah Moore and Theodore Moore, both of Chester, and Harvey Moore and Ronnie Moore, both of Maryland; four daughters, Betty Brockman, Patricia Moore, Annie Penn and Odessa Marshall, all of Chester; her brother, George Killian of Washington; 22 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Odessa Marshall, 842 Meadowbrook Road. The body will be taken to the church at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

King's Funeral Home is in charge.

Willie Pearson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Willie A. Pearson, 51, of 417 Bakers St. Extension died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at the home of Estelle Robinson, 700 Ogden St.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Charles Robinson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Charles Edward "Beauty" Robinson, of 900 Ogden Road, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at New Mount Olivet AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Sherman B. McBeth Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Robinson was a member of New Mount Olivet AME Zion Church and a 1962 graduate of Emmett Scott High School.

He pursued a career in golf and worked for 30 years for Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, where he was a bag room manager and was instrumental in preparing for golf tournaments. He was a member of Sterling Lodge No. 344 IBPOE of W for 30 years. He was assistant Grand Esquire at the Grand Lodge and was a past member of the Grand Exalted Ruler Council. He was trustee of the Elks Club, and a member of the Mabel L. Green Fez Club and inner guard of past Exalted Ruler Council No. 88. He was chairman of the Memorial Committee and served as exalted ruler for 13 years. He was the second vice president of the South Carolina State Association of Elks. He was a member of the past state president's council. He was master of social session.

Surviving are his wife, Estelle P. Robinson; two sons, Derrick Moise of Charlotte and Christopher Sanders of Rock Hill; two daughters, Mildred P. Logan of Rock Hill and Cassie Robinson of Charlotte; his father, Hayward L. Robinson Sr. of Rock Hill; three brothers, Hayward L. Robinson Jr. and James Floyd Robinson, both of St. Albans, N.Y., and Marion C. Robinson of Bronx, N.Y., two sisters, Betty R. Brown of Washington, D.C., and Lula Mae Robinson of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Joseph Rufo

PAGELAND - Mr. Joseph Anthony Rufo, 46, of 314 W. Evans St., died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Lancaster Church of God, with the Rev. Lacy Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Kershaw City Cemetery.

A New York native, Mr. Rufo was a retired motorcycle mechanic.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine Blackmon Rufo; three sons, Tony Rufo of Pageland, Jody Rufo of Lake Wylie and Joseph A. Rufo Jr. of Rock Hill; his mother, Geraldine Hartley Rufo of Lancaster and his grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home of Geraldine Rufo, 2174 Dover Lane in Lancaster.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Lola Stevens

KERSHAW - Mrs. Lola Morgan Stevens, 88, of 183 Pickfair Place in Kershaw died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Kershaw City Cemetery, with the Rev. Charlie Simmons officiating.

Mrs. Stevens was a Kershaw native. She was a homemaker and member of Center Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Edward Lee Stevens of Clio, and William Stevens and Fred Stevens, both of Kershaw; two daughters, Emily Sowell and Betty Sue Price, both of Kershaw; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of David and Emily Sowell, 5308 Shady Lane.

Memorials may be made to Center Grove Baptist Church, 236 Scout Cabin Road, Kershaw, SC 29067.
