Barbara Felberg
May 21, 1927 - June 11, 2018
Barbara Mae Felberg, 91, born on May 21, 1927 in Brookings, South Dakota, daughter to Harvey and Beulah (Dyball) Ross, passed away June 11, 2018 in Lansing, Michigan.
Barbara received her education in a rural school in Hamlin County, SD, the Estelline High School and graduated from Custer High School in 1945. Following graduation, she was employed at various businesses in Brookings including the Brookings Hospital, Nelson’s Pharmacy, Felberg Cafe and also provided in home daycare for many families.
She was united in marriage to Ralph O. Felberg on January 28, 1948, in Dell Rapids, SD.
They began their family in Brookings SD in 1956.
In 1984, following Ralph’s retirement from South Dakota State University they moved to Omaha, NE, where she continued her in home daycare. After Ralph’s passing on April 5, 1997, Barbara moved back to Brookings in 1999. Then at the age of 80, moved to Grand Ledge, Michigan in 2007 to be closer to family.
Barbara was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brookings, the Ladies Circle, The Doe’s of the Elks club and a 50-year member of the VFW Auxiliary. She attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Ledge and helped organize the Low Vision support group meetings at her residence for these past several years. She enjoyed bowling, crafts, sewing, cooking, playing cards and especially spending time with family and friends. Everybody loved Barb for her spirit and all will miss her feistiness.
Barbara is survived by her son David Felberg of Omaha, NE, daughter Kimberly Felberg of Grand Ledge, MI; five grandchildren: Lindsay, Colin, Parker, Nolan and Ian, and sister-in-law Beverly Ross of Brookings, SD and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Ronald and William Ross and sister-in-law Mary Ross.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 20, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 9:00 am.

Rev. Robert E. Camp
July 29, 1924 - June 27, 2018
Rev. Robert E. Camp, 93, of Vail, AZ, formerly of Brookings, SD, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Brookings First Assembly of God Church in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, July 6, 2018 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
Robert E. Camp was born on July 29, 1924 in Blair, NE, the son of Leonard and Esther (McCance) Camp. Robert received his education in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota and Washington state. He graduated from Chelan High School when he returned from the Army. He graduated from Open Bible Institute in Des Moines, IA in 1949. He was Ordained in 1952 and received his Bachelor of Theology degree from Minnesota Bible University in Minneapolis, MN, he attended the University of Munich, Germany (Army School), Cincinnati Bible Seminary, in Cincinnati, OH and South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with bronze oak leaf, Combat Infantry Badge, the European Theater with three combat stars, European Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the French Medal of Honor. He was a Boy Scout and was a Scout Master and was a Chaplain for the CAP in CA. He was also the SD Dept. DAV Chaplain for 27 years.
Robert was united in marriage to Violet Prussman on June 25, 1947 in Brookings.
He served as Pastor with his wife in Iowa, Nebraska, and Southern California. He taught in California Open Bible Institute, in Pasadena, and in Dayton Bible Institute in Dayton, OH. He returned to South Dakota in 1965. He then served as Lay Minister and Interim Pastor for several different churches in SD. From 1965 to 1975, he drove School Bus for the Brookings School District. From 1967 to 1987, he was employed as a Police Officer for SDSU. He also helped organize the SDSU student patrol. He loved God and Country.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was past Dept. Chaplain, Chapter Chaplain and Commander, he was also a life member of the South Dakota State Employee’s Organization.
Robert is survived by one son, Robin Camp of Vail, AZ; one daughter, Ruth Lynelle Clark of Palm Coast, FL; five grandchildren Robin Estes and Rich Estes, Christen Clark, Ross Clark, and Madison Clark; 3 great-grandchildren, Payton, Brooks, and Lilah; one brother, Milton Camp of Sonora, CA and one sister Mildred Angello of Carmel, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Violet, one daughter, Rebecca, one brother, Harold and three sisters, Bonnie, Margaret and Lois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Brookings First Assembly of God Foreign Missions.
Thomas E. Anderson
July 20, 1948 - August 27, 2017
Tom Anderson went to be with his lord and savior on August 27th, 2017.
Tom was born on July 20th, 1948 to parents Verner and Doris Anderson. He lived and worked in the Brookings area most of his life and enjoyed his home on Lake Poinsett, where you would find him boating and entertaining friends and family on a regular basis.
Tom owned and operated The Optical Shop in Brookings until he retired. He was active in the regional and national optometric associations. He was an excellent optician known for his ability to fit anyone with glasses, or in some cases repair the irreparable.
Tom was a kind-hearted man who loved his family and was always there to celebrate holidays and special occasions with them. His love of life and the need to nap totally fit his quirky personality. Tom always saw the best in people and was a loyal and generous friend.
Tom is survived by his sister and her husband Deb and Charlie Welf, his brother and wife Russ and Teresa Anderson. Tom had a special connection to and is survived by his niece and her husband Gina and Chad Schlawin, his nephew and wife Joel and Brandi Utecht along with nephews Marshall Utecht and Michael Welf. He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father Doris and Verner Anderson.
Tom’s Memorial Services have been set for 10:30am Friday, September 1, 2017 at Ascension Lutheran Church, Brookings, SD. Memorial Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of the services at Ascension Lutheran Church. Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Arden "Arch" L. Telgren
May 18, 1930 - September 26, 2017
Arden L. ‘Arch’ Telgren, 87, of Brookings, SD, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. Visitation will be held at one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am. Funeral services will also be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 1, 2017 at the Church of Christ in Oakdale, NE with burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
Arden L. Telgren was born on May 18, 1930 in Oakdale, NE, the first child of Joseph and Nina (Duncan) Telgren.
He spent his early life in Oakdale, before his family moved to California where he attended school in Arcata, CA and Whittier, CA before returning to Oakdale in 1946 and graduating from Oakdale High School in 1948.
Arch then began his 20 year career with the U.S. Army when he enlisted on June 16, 1948, and began basic training in Fort Knox, KY.
Arch was united in marriage to Yoshiko Tsuneto on April 8, 1955 in Yokohama, Japan.
He served 11 years in Japan, where he served at General Headquarters and USA Medical Command-Japan. He also spent 18 months in Korea, 18 months at Army Language School, in Monterey CA, where he learn to speak Japanese, and one year at US Army Headquarters in Vietnam at Long Binh. He retired from Active Duty on June 30, 1968. He returned to work at South Dakota State University with the ROTC. He continued to work with the ROTC until his retirement on November 30, 1991 after 23 years. Throughout his career, Arden was recognized with many honors, including the Bronze Star and numerous service badges and medals. During this time, he continued his education and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College, in Columbia, MO in 1978.
Arch was an avid bowler, twice winning the Curly Reiger Award from Brookings Bowling Association and was named to the Brookings Men’s Bowling Hall of Fame and the South Dakota Men’s Bowling Hall of Fame. He also founded the Eastern South Dakota Bowling League. He served as a coach and official for Little League Baseball, Little League and Pony League Basketball and Junior Bowling Program in Brookings.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 62 years, Yoshiko Telgren, of Brookings, SD; blessed with two children, Clifford Telgren, of Brookings SD and Nancy (Greg) Telgren-Rodriguez, of Wisconsin; three granddaughters, Leah Wille, Katee (Bruce) Paine and Clarissa Rodriguez; two grandsons, Jason (Stacie) Telgren and Nick Rodriguez; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Lydia Mae) Telgren and David (Chung Mi) Telgren and one sister, Kimberly Wiseman.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and their spouses, Randall (Jackie) and Paul (Vivian) and brother-in-law, Mike Wiseman.
Rod Hildebrandt
October 14, 1959 - August 5, 2017
Rodney Steven Hildebrandt, 57, of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2017 at Oak Lake in Kerrick, Minnesota.
Rod was born on October 14, 1959 in Brookings, SD. to Charles and Garnet (Hanson) Hildebrandt. He graduated from Brookings High School in 1977. Following high school, he lived in Brookings working at Falcon Plastics for a few years before moving to Huron, SD. He moved to the Minneapolis area in the mid 1980’s and worked for SuperAmerica for many years. In 1995, he was employed with Trio Paper Supply in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he worked until the time of his death.
On October 1, 2011, he married Virginia Schnacky in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Rod was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and Oakland Athletics fan. He also bowled in many bowling leagues. He coached Little League Baseball and YMCA baseball teams. He enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s sporting events and school programs. Rod always had a smile on his face, an infectious laugh, and a very dry sense of humor. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hildebrandt, Bloomington, MN; his mother, Garnet Hildebrandt, Brookings, SD; sister, Debora (William) Richardson, Afton, IA; nephew, Ian Richardson, Sioux City, IA; niece, Emma Richardson, Afton, IA; two stepdaughters, Jennifer (Karl) Johnson, Bloomington, MN; Judy (Jay) Gilchrist, Prior Lake, MN; four step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Madison Gilchrist, and Logan and Mason Johnson; one uncle, Don Hildebrandt, Brookings, SD; one aunt, Velda (Paul) Stanek, Springfield, MO, and many cousins.
Rod was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hildebrandt; paternal grandparents, Paul and Susie Hildebrandt; maternal grandparents, Emil and Wilma Hanson; three uncles and two aunts.
Visitation will be held at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings, South Dakota on Sunday, August 27 from 2-4 pm. Graveside services will be at First Lutheran Cemetery, Brookings, on Monday, August 28, at 10:30 am. A memorial service will be held October 2nd at Normandale Highlands United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Minnesota, at 7 pm.
Robert Jerald Davidson
September 8, 1932 - September 4, 2017
Robert Jerald 'Bob' Davidson, of Sioux Falls, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Monday, September 4, 2017, just shy of his 85th birthday. No services are planned at this time as it was Bob's wishes to have his body donated to science.
He was born September 8, 1932 in Benton, Illinois to Lula and Augustus (Gus) Davidson. He grew up on a small farmstead with one brother and five sisters near the little town of Christopher, IL, within sight of the coal mine where his father and brother worked. He joined the U.S. Marines, and was wounded in combat during the Korean War.
Bob graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1958, with an engineering degree and began a fulfilling career in mechanical engineering. Seriously afflicted with wanderlust, Bob worked for the power industry all across America and around the globe. For example, he was the field supervising engineer constructing a natural gas plant in the Peruvian jungles, and one of the first power lines to cross the Andes Mountains in Peru. He supervised construction of the world's largest desalination plant in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, where he was adopted by an orphaned camel he named Humpy.
He spent his retirement years in the Sioux Falls area to be near his sons, and even authored a book called "Gus and his Mules". He loved to read and travel.

- Best racetrack in the world? "Belmont Park, NY."
- Most boring place in the world? "Toss-up between Honolulu and Pakistan."
- Is there any place you didn't get to see? "South Africa."
Bob was ready to go having had, in his words, "A very good ride." He is survived by three sons, Casey, Bill, and Robert Jr., two grandsons, Luke and Gavin, and a granddaughter, Jessica.

Herbert C. Bennett
December 12, 1928 - July 24, 2017
Herbert C. Bennett, 88, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 at the United Living Community, Brookings, SD. Memorial Services have been set for 10:30am Monday, July 31, 2017 at Rude’s Funeral Home, Brookings, SD. Visitation will held from 9:30am until the time of services at Rude’s Funeral Home.
Herbert C. Bennett was born on December 12, 1928, in Arlington, SD, the son of Michael A. and Lillian R. (Thomas) Bennett.
Herbert received his education in the Arlington Schools. From 1946 until 1951, he worked for his brother Hugh.
He was united in marriage to Anna Illies on August 4, 1952, in Arlington.
After living in Arlington for several years, they moved to a farm outside of town where they raised their children. In 1987, they moved into Brookings, and Herbert was employed at Ag-First until 1996. Anna died on November 3, 2010 in Sioux Falls, SD.
He enjoyed wood working, and especially loved to mow. He spent many hours mowing for others on his grasshopper mower.
Herbert is survived by his children Patricia Asmus of Brookings, SD, Peggy (James) Egeberg of Arlington, SD, James (Emily) Bennett of Brookings, SD, Paula Bennett (William Kennedy) Gauger of Brookings, SD, Jeff Bennett and his special friend Sonja Beier of Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Christensen of Watertown, SD and Blanche Mansoor of Santa Rosa, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant brother, Paul, one sister, Lorraine Alexander and brothers, Hugh and Lyle Bennett.
Thomas Edward Luetzow
March 17, 1959 - June 23, 2017
Thomas Edward Luetzow, 58, of Minnetonka, MN, died Friday, June 23rd, 2017. A family graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9th, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. Rude’s Funeral Home, of Brookings, SD, is in charge of arrangements.
Thomas was born March 17th, 1959 to Edwin Jerome (Jerry) Luetzow and Marlene Cecilia Gable Luetzow. Thomas attended high school in Minnesota and later worked as a machinist.
Thomas is survived by his uncles, aunts and cousins.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Karla Sue Luetzow.
