Donald Coffaa
Donald R. "Tiny" Coffaa, 57, New Effington, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at a Fargo, ND hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, July 29, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. in the Walla Lutheran Church in New Effington with the Rev. Suzanne Benidt officiating. Burial was in the Walla Cemetery.Pallbearers were Dale and Curtis Carlson, Bob Schultz, Gary Houghton, Mark Fladland and Keith Bostrom. Visitation was Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Rosholt and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services.Donald Coffaa was born May 1, 1943 at Sisseton to Walter and Gladys (Carlson) Coffaa. He was baptized, confirmed and was a life-long member of the Walla Lutheran Church. He attended Lein 6 Grade School and New Effington High School. He worked for Gale Fladland as a farm hand, Gary Houghton, where he helped build the Claire City Seed Plant, and most recently as a mechanic for Bob Schultz at Bob's Service in Claire City. He enjoyed car racing and tractor pulling contests.Survivors include three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Oliver Spear of Bar Harbor, ME, Viola and Harold Schultz of Lidgerwood, ND, and Dale Ann and Patrick Humphrey of Houston, TX; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Danny of New Effington and Wayne and Ruth Coffaa of Dell Rapids; and three nephews and eight nieces.He was preceded in death by his parents.
Juanita Skogen
Funeral service for Juanita Skogen, 84, of South Shore, SD, formerly of Sisseton, SD, was held on Monday, July 24, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, with Rev. Thomas Kuusisto officiating. Burial will be in the Sisseton Cemetery at a later date.Organist was Marcia Peterson, soloist was Stephen Huntington accompanied by Leanne Mack. Pallbearers were David Lueck, Ricky Lueck, Todd Lueck, Cody York, Paul Bang, and Brad LaRoche. Honorary pallbearers were Marilynn Goodsell, Jane LaRoche, Mary Carlson, Carmyn Fleischhacker, Edith Nigg, Jeannie Nigg, and Gladyce Crosby. Visitation was Sunday, July 23, 2000 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to services at the church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton was in charge of arrangements.Juanita Marion (Halseide) Skogen was born Sept. 26, 1915 in Lincoln County, MN. The second child born to Gunval and Marie (Krause) Halseide, a family of seven children. Juanita attended grade school in One Road Township and graduated from Peever High School. After her education, Juanita traveled out west to La Jolla, CA where she worked in the shipyards during World War II. Juanita was united in marriage to Harry Skogen on Oct. 10, 1946 in Webster, SD. The couple resided in One Road Township for a short time before purchasing a farm in Drywood Township. The couple resided in Drywood Township for a year before moving to Froid, MT where they lived and managed a ranch. In 1950, the couple returned to their farm in Drywood Township. After two years of terribly strong winds that took many of their buildings, the couple moved their house to Sisseton in 1955. Harry passed away on Sept. 1, 1971. Juanita was employed at the Peterson Steakhouse and Lanes in Sisseton, and later worked for the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, retiring in 1976. In 1995, Juanita sold her home and moved into the Jard Apartments where she resided until 1999, when she moved in with her daughter, Nancy in South Shore, SD. Juanita resided in South Shore until her death on July 20, 2000 at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton. Juanita was a life-long member of the Grace Lutheran Church where she enjoyed being actively involved with circles and many activities in the church. Juanita was a member of the Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342 and the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50. Juanita was known for her green thumb and enjoyed working in her garden, caring for her flowers and vegetables. She is also remembered for the many seams and alterations she did for her friends and relatives.Juanita is survived by one son, James and Rita Skogen of Albuquerque, NM; two daughters, Susan York of Minneapolis, MN and Nancy and husband Mark Lueck of South Shore, SD; two sisters, Edith Nigg of Sisseton, SD and Margarette Lyngen of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Curtis Halseide of Culbertson, MT; 12 grandchildren and three great granddaughters.Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry of 57 years; one son, Freddie; two brothers, Stanley and Beverly; one sister, Elna Nigg and one son-in-law, Fred York. Nita will be remembered for her kind heart, and faith in God, her green thumb, and her gardening skills. We will always remember Nita as we pass by the many yards and gardens of her flowers, that she has shared with her friends.
Robert E. Krogstad
Robert E. Krogstad passed away July 21, 2000 at the age of 93 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Services were held at Fron Lutheran Church on July 25, 2000 at 11 a.m. Services were conducted by Pastor Eric Thorson. Organist was Monica Gosseling and soloist was Curt Bredeson. The Hoplin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.He was born Feb. 15, 1907 in Norway Township, Roberts County, SD, where his parents, Hans and Gina (Pederson) Krogstad homesteaded. He was the youngest of seven children, and attended country schools, graduating from Sisseton High School. He married Rachel Hammer in 1932 and they owned dry-cleaning establishments in Webster, SD; Moose Lake, MN; Walker, MN and a laundromat in Moose Lake. Together they owned and operated Stony Point Resort on Leech Lake and developed Sun Bay Trailer Park near Walker. They retired in 1969, spending time in Mesa, AZ and Walker, MN before moving to Starbuck in 1984. Since 1999, they have lived at Ridgewood Villa in Glenwood.Robert was a member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. He was a past master of Masonic Coteau Lodge, a volunteer fireman, and a member of the Kiwanis in Webster. During his retirement years he was active in the Starbuck Senior Citizens and volunteer work. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing cards and reading.He is survived by his wife, Rachel; two daughters, Barbara and Dan Schliesman of Glenwood and Janice Weaver of Golden, CO; nine grandchildren, Kathryn Peterson of Glenwood, Carolyn Bloms of Cumberland, WI, Mary Shemesh of Redmond, WA, Dan Schliesman of Apple Valley, MN, Lisa Schliesman of St. Paul, MN, David Weaver of Lakewood, CO, Marc Krogstad of Chamberlain, SD, Karen Griffith of Rapid City, SD and Robert Krogstad III of Kasilof, AK; and 13 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Krogstad Jr. of Pierre and Rapid City, SD.He was a gentle man who treasured his family and was greatly loved in return.
Laura Birchem
Laura Birchem, 87, passed away July 23, 2000 at the home of her son, Jerry in Roswell, GA with her family at her side. Funeral services were at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Rosholt on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at 10 a.m. Interment was in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.Pallbearers were Ray and Francis Renelt Jr., Andy Schiltz, Darrell Ellingson, Raymond, Bill Birchem, Leslie Schiltz and Bill Klein.. Honorary pallbearers were the Royal Neighbors, her grandchildren and all her friends. Organist was Lila Akerson and vocal arrangements by St. John's Chorus. Visitation was Tuesday, July 25, 2000 from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Rosholt, and one hour previous to the service at the church. There was a prayer service Tuesday night at the Johnson Funeral Home at 7 p.m. The Johnson Funeral Home of Rosholt was in charge of arrangements.Laura Harrington Birchem was born on March 30, 1913 the youngest child of Thomas Harrington and Cecilia Roar of New Effington. She attended New Effington rural school and Sisseton High School. On Sept. 4, 1939 she married Lawrence Birchem. The couple farmed in Victor Township where they raised their family. She loved being a mother and attending all school events of her children. I don't believe they ever missed a sporting event of one of their children and later enjoyed watching their grandchildren participate in sports. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish, and Royal Neighbors. She loved living on their farm, reading, playing cards, telling a good joke, visiting with her friends, going to social functions, and having her family visit. Her sense of wit was unmatched. She was well read and was up to date on local and national news.She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Janice Birchem of Roswell, GA, and Larry and Peggy Birchem of Bowdle; one daughter and son-in-law, Stan and Dorothea Engeldorf of Lahaina, HI; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; and two sons, Tom and Ronnie.
Dennis "Denny O" Owen Sr.
Funeral service for Dennis "Denny O" Owen Sr., 57, of Peever, SD was held on Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Ascension Presbyterian Church, Peever, SD with Rev. Floyd Heminger, Pastor Phil Lawrence and Rev. Ronald Campbell officiating. Interment was in the Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery, Peever.Pallbearers were Robert Owen, Ricky Owen, Colin Owen, Brian Owen, Danny Owen, Steve Owen, Joe Owen, Garry Owen Jr. and Rodney Owen. Honorary pallbearers were Gilbert Kohl, Alvah Quinn Sr., Joe Kohl, Freddy Kohl, Kent Miller, John German Sr., Jeff Schoenrock, Reed "Wendy" Louis, Gerald German Sr., Curtis Bird, Alex "Muchie" Heminger, DuWayne Gronau, Andrew "Pee Wee" Tuff, and Francis "Punchie" Charging Cloud. Military Rites were provided by the Old Agency American Legion Post. A prayer service was held on Sunday, July 23, 2000 at the First Baptist Church, Sisseton. A wake service was held on Monday, July 24, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Hall, Sisseton. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton was in charge of arrangements.Dennis was born on March 29, 1943 at Sisseton, SD to Pierce and Laura (Welch) Owen. Dennis attended country school at Agency #4 and then Big Coulee Day School through the 8th grade. He entered the United States Army on Nov. 8, 1960 and was discharged Nov. 7, 1963. After his military service he worked at various jobs in the Peever, SD and Fargo, ND areas. On Sept. 19, 1964 at Wheaton, MN he married Shirley Blacksmith. They moved to Los Angeles, CA where Dennis attended mechanic and auto body school. In 1965 they returned to the Fargo, ND area and started work for the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribal Roads and Reality retiring in 1998. Shirley passed away on March 25, 1977. He was a member of the Big Coulee Saddle Club. Dennis died on July 22, 2000 at Fargo, ND.Dennis leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Laura Owen of Sisseton, SD; two sons, William and his wife Jackie Owen of Sisseton, SD and Dennis and LaVonne Owen Jr. of Peever, SD; four daughters, Michelle Owen of Agency Village, SD, Marjory and her husband Sylvanus Flute Jr. of Browns Valley, MN, Jennifer Owen of Sioux Falls, SD and April Owen of Agency Village, SD; one sister, Florine Bernard of Sisseton, SD; four brothers, Verlyn (Pete) Owen of St. Cloud, MN, Allen Owen of Peever, SD, Garry Owen Sr. of Agency Village, SD and Milton Owen of Sisseton, SD; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Pierce Owen; his wife, Shirley; one brother, Charles Owen; and three sisters, Nettie Mousseaux, Gail Owen and Annabelle Owen.
Garnet Ethelyn Kjosa
Funeral service for Garney Ethelyn Kjosa, 87 of Sisseton, South Dakota were held on Monday, April 23, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Outreach Center, Sisseton, South Dakota with Rev. Dwight C. Fearing and Rev. Jim Konsor officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Kjosa Jr., Paul Kjosa, Wesley Kjosa, Jesse Junde, Ray Backer, and David Syverson. Honorary Pallbearers were Merle Ready, Reda Poyet, Sandy Batie, and Evelyn Johnson. Organist was Kathie Konsor and there was a duet by Jim and Kathy Konsor. Interment was in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, South Dakota. Visitation was on Sunday, April 22, 2001 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Chaill Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to services at the church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, South Dakota is in charge of the arrangements. Garnet Ethelyn Trygstad was born on September 20, 1913 in Royalton, Minnesota to Nels and Marie (Nelson) Trygstad. At the age of four she moved with her family to homestead near the Lily, SD area. Garney was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Sunday school and vacation Bible school at the Lily Lutheran Church. She also belonged to several serving groups at the church. On December 24, 1933 she was married to Gladwin Kjosa at St. John's Church at Webster, SD. To this union, three children were born. In 1944 Garney accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. The couple farmed in Clark, Day and Roberts Counties. In the fall of 1953, the couple moved to Sisseton, SD and they operated an adult care center in their home for 13 years. They were members of the Assembly of God Church in Sisseton, SD. Garnet was secretary/treasuruer of the WMC Cirlce for ten years and helped in the church where she was needed. Gladwin passed away on September 28, 1989. Garnet continued to live in Sisseton and help at the chruch. Garnet was also a member of the Christian Outreach Center in Sisseton, SD. She was very active in the Christian Women's Club and the Inter Donominational Prayer Group and she loved indoor gardening. Garnet passed away suddenly at her home on April 18, 2001.Garnet is survived by three children, Robert Kjosa Sr. of Leeds, ND, Rev. David and wife Esther Kjosa of Tampa, FL and Isabel Marie and husband Paul Markstrom of Anchorage, AK; one brother, Caryle and wife Enice Trygstad of Milbank, SD; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.Garney is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two great-granddaughters, two brothers and one daughter-in-law.
Norman "Nick" Hollen
Funeral service for Norman "Nick" Hollen, 82 of Sisseton, SD were held on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Randy Oswald O.M.I. celebrant. Organist was Bill Nelson, song leader was Lunette Grimsrud. Pallbearers were Bruce Hammer, Billy Stickland, Boyd Hansen, Kenny Seurer, Dewain Waletich, and Virgil George. Honorary pallbearers and Military Rites by Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342. There was visitation on Friday, May 11, 2001 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a scripture service following at the Cahill Funeral Chapel. There was visitation on Saturday, May 12, 2001 from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of arrangements.Nick was born on November 17, 1918 to Ole J. and Anna (Schulz) Hollen. He attended county school in Drywood Lake Township and following his education he ranched in the Drywood Lake area. Nick entered the United States Army in March of 1943 and served until March of 1946 as a Technical Sergeant with the 3rd Platoon of Company B, 15th Infantry of the 3rd Division. He served under Audie Murphy at the Anzio Beachhead and in combat against the Germans in France. Murphy was Platoon Commander and Nick a Private and later a Technical Sergeant. When Murphy was hospitalized for a few weeks, Nick was in charge of the platoon. Nick was out of action after his right leg was fractured in four places on December 26, 1944. He also received a gunshot wound to the right forearm, which was 30% disabling and his hearing loss was 100% disabling. Most of his hospitalization was spent at Ft. Lewis, Washington, where he received his honorable discharge. Nick received the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, WWII Victory Medal, French Unit Citation, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Presidential Unit Citations, American Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars. After the service, Nick returned home and continued to ranch. Nick was united in marriage to Marie (Moshier) Erickson on August 21, 1962 in Sisseton, SD. Marie and Nick operated the Erickson Grain Belt Company until they sold it in 1970. They enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, AZ. Nick was a lifetime member of the Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342 and the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50, and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Marie passed away on June 23, 2000. Nick enjoyed playing pinochle, fishing and hunting. Nick passed away on May 8, 2001 at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD.Nick is survived by one brother, James Hollen of Sisseton, SD and three step children, Lawrence and wife, Lynda Erickson of Hutchinson, MN, Joy and husband, Gene Hrncir of Sisseton, SD and Carol and husband, Stan Schade of Sisseton, SD; two sisters-in-law, Anna Moshier of Browns Valley, MN and Violet Belkstrom of Mauston, WI; fourteen step-grandchildren and twenty three step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Nick was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; two sisters, Hazel Chiristensen and Alpha Cooper and a step-son, Gene Erickson.
Leonard H. Hove
Leonard H. Hove died May 8, 2001 at his home in Auburn, WA at the age of 82. Leonard was born on July 9, 1918 in Peever, SD (raised in Sisseton) to Lars and Hilma (Johnson) Hove, he was the oldest of 8 children. He enjoyed the farm life and was raised with and continued with it throughout his career. He married Muriel McLean in Browns Valley, MN. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage together, and raising their daughter. In 1945 he joined the Army-Airforce and served during WWII until 1946, when he was honorable discharged with the rank of Private First Class. He served in the Last Calvary in Ft. Riley, KS. He then moved to Wessington Springs, SD and lived/worked until 1956 when he made the move to Washington State and the town of Buckley where he worked as Farm Manager at the Rainier State School until 1978. He then took a management position at the Enumclaw Sales Pavilion, Sales Barn, until March 17, 2001. He was a member of the Auburn Church of the Nazarene.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil Hove, Clayton Hove and Howard Hove; and sisters, Barbara Osborne and Marlys Hove. He is now survived by his wife Muriel, his daughter Sharon Hillie; granddaughter Lorelei Faglier and great grandson, Devin Kiehn all of Auburn, WA; brothers, Kenneth Hove of Sisseton, SD and Dennis Hove of Thornton, CO.A memorial service was held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2001 at the Auburn Church of the Nazarene. Christina Herding
Christina Herding, 82, of Wahpeton, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at the St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton, ND. Funeral services were on Friday, May 11, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home in Wahpeton and then there was visitation on Friday morning, from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Funeral Home, then one hour prior to the service at the church.Pallbearers were Kenneth Herding, Brian Herding, Daniel Herding, Jeff Harles, Eugene Hamline and Vincent Herding and honorary pallbearers were "All who called her friend." Special music was sung by St. John's Ladies Choir.Christina Herding was born on October 15, 1918 in rural Hankinson, daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Biewer) Herding. She was baptized and received her First Communion and was Confirmed at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in Rosholt, SD. She grew up on the farm in Greendale Township, rural Hankinson, and attended Greendale Township #4 country school. She lived on the family farm, with her parents, and her dad died on November 26, 1953. She and her mother continued to live on the farm until 1965 when her brother, Philip and his new bride (Agatha) moved on the family farm. Christina and her mother bought a house in Wahpeton and she then worked at various places in Wahpeton besides taking care of her mother. Her mother died on Sept. 30, 1984, and then on May 15, 1997, Christina was diagnosed with dementia, and she entered the St. Catherine's Living Center, where she has resided since.Christina became a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton in 1965, and was also a member of the Ladies Guild, and she also had acquired her GED diploma that year. Her hobbies were gardening and canning with her mother. Surviving her are, a sister, Theresa Hamling of Rosholt, SD; four brothers, Henry Herding of Hankinson, Leo (Rosella) Herding of Rosholt, SD, Philip (Agatha) Herding of Hankinson and Gregory (Mary Lou) Herding of Hankinson; on sister in law, Florentia Herding of Hankinson and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Anton and Nick Herding, a brother at infancy; a sister, Agnes Hamling and one God child, Melida Marie Herding.Christina will be missed by her family, relatives and friends.
William Lloyd MacConnell
Funeral service for William Lloyd MacConnell, 54, of Sioux Falls, SD were held on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the Eddie Robertson American Legion, Veblen, SD with Rev. Ronald Campbell and Senior Catechist John Cloud III officiating. Pallbearers were Glen Wanna, Vincent Azure, Val Azure, David Cloud Jr., George MacConnell, Stanley MacConnell, Chad MacConnell, and Charles MacConnell III. Honorary Pallbearers were "All Vietnam Veterans, and All William's friends and relatives". Pianist was Billy Kohl. Interment was in St. Luke's Episcopal Cemetery, Rural Veblen, SD. Wake services were Thursday, May 10, starting 7:00 p.m. at the Eddie Robertson American Legion, and Friday, May 11, starting at 7:00 p.m. at Charles MacConnell's home, rural Veblen, SD. The Cahill Funeral Home of Sisseton was in charge of arrangements.William was born on July 31, 1946 in Sisseton, SD, to Charles and Olive (Robertson) MacConnell. He grew up in rural Veblen and attended school at Wahpeton Indian School, and the Veblen Public School. Bill married Jackie Wanna in August of 1967. The couple had one son, Glen Wanna. Soon after the wedding, Bill was drafted into the United States Army. He served in Vietnam where he was in the 25th infantry as a field radio mechanic. During his service, Bill was M.I.A. for fourteen days. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Bill received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm for his service. Bill was a member of the Kit Fox Society. Bill returned to the area and worked for the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe as a police officer. In 1974, Bill was married to Germaine Leith. To this union, a daughter, Melissa MacConnell was born. He spent a short period working in Connecticut as a carpenter where he met many friends. Bill was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard, where he served many pow-wow's. Bill helped in the bringing back of the remains of our people, who are in the Smithsonian Institute, in Washington, D.C.. Bill resided in the Veblen and Sisseton areas his entire life. Bill passed away on May 9, 2001 in Sioux Falls, SD.William is survived by one son, Glen Wanna of Veblen, SD; one daughter, Melissa and husband Raymond Burris of Keystone, SD; his father, Charles MacConnell of Veblen, SD; Nine siblings, Karen and Jim Giroux of Eagle Butte, SD, Shirley MacConnell, Clifford "Tuffy" and wife Sandy MacConnell, Edith "Dolly" MacConnell, Wesley MacConnell, Marsha and husband Scott LaCroix, Lillian and husband Spencer Wanna, all of Veblen, Gary Crawford of Sioux Falls, and Richard "Tahansi Ponce" Owen of Veblen, SD; six grandchildren, Raini, Moriah, and Raymond Jr. of Keystone, SD; and Tashina, Gwen, Glen Jr. of Veblen, SD and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Andrew "Peewee" Tuff Jr., 59 of Peever, SD were held on Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Peever Lutheran Church, Peever, SD with Rev. Ronald Campbell, Senior Catechist John Cloud III and Rev. Steve Moberg officiating. Organist was Billy Kohl with special music by Elden Lawrence. Pallbearers were Curt Redearth, Nicky Crawford, Edwayne Crawford, Stacey Miller, Kent Miller, and Pat Kraemer. Honorary pallbearers were Jonas Keeble, Maynard Beaudreau, Mike Whempner, Levi Keoke, Roger Eldridge, Alvah Quinn, Sr., Terry Crawford, Lyle Crawford, Harley Christopherson and "All of Andrew's many friends." Interment was in the Peever Cemetery, Peever, SD. Wake services were Monday, May 7, 2001 starting at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, and Tuesday, May 8, 2001 an all night wake service at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of the arrangements.Andrew Gene Tuff Jr. was born on June 14, 1941 in Peever, SD to Andrew and Blanche (Bailley) Tuff, Sr. He grew up and attended school in Peever, SD. After his education he entered the United States Army where he served from April 5, 1967 until March 15, 1969. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal. "Peewee" returned to the Peever area where he worked for area farmers, and was employed by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe in building maintenance. Peewee was married several times. Peewee passed away on May 6, 2001 at the Public Health Hospital in Sisseton, SD after a lengthy illness. Peewee loved to fish.Peewee is survived by six children, Sharla Abraham of Peever, SD, Wanda Rehnelt of Litchfield, MN, Mike Adams of Owatonna, MN, Jeff Danials of Litchfield, MN, Jesse Tuff of Litchfield, MN and Tiffany Beaudreau of Peever, SD; Three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Erickson of Peever, SD, Mrs. Thelma Neilson of Sisseton, SD, Mrs. Delores Barry of Moose Lake, MN; one brother, Alvin and wife Lorraine Tuff of Peever, SD; ten grandchildren, and special friends, Arlene, Karena, Kent, Stacey and Charlene Miller. Peewee was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers.
