Mary Krause
Aberdeen - The funeral for Mary Krause, 88, of Aberdeen will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spitzer-Osthus Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E. The Rev. Harold E. Salem will officiate.
Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Java.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service, all at the funeral home.
She died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at the Aberdeen Living Center.
Mary Boettcher was born Dec. 6, 1912, to Ludwig and Katie (Bast) Boettcher at Herreid. She grew up and attended school in the Herreid area.
She married Alex Krause on June 22, 1931, at Mobridge. They made their home on a farm near Java. They retired in 1962 and moved into Java. He died Dec. 10, 1980, at Hoven. She moved to Aberdeen in February 1987 and where she resided until the time of her death.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Java and attended First Baptist Church while she lived in Aberdeen. She was also a past member of ALCW and a charter member of American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed embroidery, quilting and baking kuchen.
Survivors include one son, Wilbur (Maxine) Krause of Alpena; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Casketbearers will be Earl Frank, Harry Krause, Kevin Rau, Nolan Lindemann, Bob Krause and Bill Krause.
Gordon Gill
Bristol - The funeral for Gordon Gill, 76, of Bristol will be at 2 p.m. today at the Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. The Rev. Terrill Sorensen and the Rev. Sara Sorensen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Bristol Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral chapel from 9 a.m. today until the time of the service.
He died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.
Gordon Wayne Gill was born Aug. 3, 1925, to Leo and Gertrude (Wagner) Gill on the family farm north of Bristol in Day County. He attended District No. 142 country school near his home. As a young man he farmed with his father on the family farm. In February 1957, he bought a recreation hall in Bristol which he owned and operated until July 1997, when ill health caused him to enter the Johnson Center in Bristol. He resided there until complications with diabetes and a broken hip placed him in Sun Dial Manor in Bristol. He resided there until the present time.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and also enjoyed reading.
Survivors include four sisters, Lois Zumm of Fox Lake, Wis., Cleo Esche and Sharon Gill, both of Watertown, and Ramona Estwick of Webster.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Casketbearers will be Randy Horter, Robert Biersbach, Mark Anderson, Don Wahl, Calvin Esche and Dan Kirchmeier.
