Clayton Brown Otter
Bullhead - Mass of Christian burial for Clayton Brown Otter, 52, of Bullhead will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bullhead Community Center. The Rev. Steve Biegler and Monsignor William O'Connell will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Aloysious Catholic Church Cemetery in Bullhead. Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.
An all-night wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at the Bullhead Community Center.
He died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Medcenter One in Bismarck, N.D.
Clayton Brown Otter was born Oct. 10, 1948, to Clayton Sr. and Cecilia (Hairy Chin) Brown Otter in Fort Yates, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Bullhead. He also attended school in McIntosh. He then entered the U.S. Army. After he was honorably discharged, he returned to Bullhead, where he worked for area ranchers and in construction.
Survivors include four sons, Scott (Jackie) Brown Otter of McLaughlin, Brady (Sonja) Brown Otter and Terry Brown Otter, both of Fort Yates, and Clayton Brown Otter III of Bullhead; one daughter, JoBeth Brown Otter of Bullhead; his mother of Bullhead; five brothers, Quinten Brown Otter and Perry Brown Otter, both of McLaughlin, Courtney Brown Otter and Ron Brown Otter, both of Bullhead, and Ivan Brown Otter of Bismarck; four sisters, Judy Brown Otter of McLaughlin, Jolean Bendickson of Bismarck, Janet Harrison of Bullhead and Mary Jo Taken Alive of Sioux Falls; one adopted sister, Kelsey Brown Otter of Bullhead; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, one son and one brother.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - Floyd W. Baumann, 49, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Selby, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa, due to complications of surgery.

Ipswich - The funeral for Martha Entzel, 89, of Ipswich will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Ipswich. The Rev. George Dummann will officiate.
Emily F. Naber
Miller - Emily F. Naber, 90, of Miller died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at the Prairie Good Samaritan Center in Miller.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Miller. The Rev. Terry Weber will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery in Miller. Reck Funeral Home of Miller is in charge of arrangements.
A wake service will be at 8 tonight at the church.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Emily Mullaney was born June 18, 1911, to Frank and Elizabeth Mullaney at Madison. She moved with her parents to Hand County in 1917. She attended rural school and graduated from Miller High School in 1930. She then attended college in Aberdeen and taught school for six years.
She married Leonard Naber on Jan. 3, 1938. They made their home near Polo. In 1964, she returned to teaching and taught for eight years. She retired in 1973, but continued to substitute teach in the Miller School District for two years. They moved to Miller in 1968.
She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Band.
She loved bowling and was a member of the Golden Girls bowling league for several years. She also made quilts for her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond (Patricia) Naber of Miller and David (Tammy) Naber of Bellevue, Idaho; two daughters, Patricia (Gary) LaFurge of Hoven and Judy (Bill) Lemmel of Denver; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven sisters and five brothers.
Norma Hazel Marlett
South China, Maine - Norma Hazel Marlett, 91, of South China died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at Lakewood Manor in Waterville, Maine.
A family memorial service will be at a later date.
Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery in Madison, Wis. Gray and Pratt Funeral Home of Windsor, Maine, is in charge of arrangements.
Norma Hazel Francis was born Nov. 18, 1909, to William H. and Millie I. (Piercy) Francis in Ashton. She grew up in Ashton and graduated from Ashton High School in 1927.
She married Rolland Loren Marlett on Nov. 20, 1927. They lived in Aberdeen, Washington, D.C., Madison, Wis., and Beloit, Wis. He died in 1955. She lived in Madison and Monona, Wis., before moving to South China.
She enjoyed reading. She also loved animals.
Survivors include three children, Lois, Janet and Gregory; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.
Alec Charles Little Eagle
Bullhead - The funeral for Alec Charles Little Eagle, 16, of Bullhead will be at 10:30 CDT today at the Rock Creek Community Nutrition Center in Bullhead. The Rev. Keith Kraft will officiate.
Burial will be in the Rock Creek Episcopal Cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge in charge of arrangements.
He died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, in a traffic mishap.
Alec Charles Little Eagle was born July 8, 1985, to Allen and Carleen Little Eagle in Bismarck, N.D. He spent most of his life in Bullhead. He attended school in Bullhead and Mobridge before attending his freshman year at McLaughlin. He was planning to play high school basketball. He was known as a loving, caring and generous person.
Survivors include his parents of Bullhead; three brothers, Allen, Alex and Leslie, all of Bullhead; and two sisters, Alexio and Lucy, both of Bullhead.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Martha Dobler
McLaughlin - The funeral for Martha Dobler, 65, of McLaughlin will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Grace Baptist Church in McLaughlin. The Rev. Gerry Pike will officiate.
Burial will be in the McLaughlin City Cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge in charge of arrangements.
She died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, in Mobridge.
Martha Takes The Hat was born Jan. 3, 1936, to James and Annie (Catch The Bear) Takes The Hat in Little Eagle. She grew up in the Bullhead area and also lived with the James Eagle Shield family on Oak Creek. She attended school in Bullhead and Fort Yates, N.D. She later attended Standing Rock Community College, where she received a bachelor of science degree in human service. She lived in Fort Quapell, Calif., and Poplar, Mont., before moving to McLaughlin in 1958. She worked as a cook and a waitress at Martha's Cafe in McLaughlin. She also worked for the Standing Rock Tribe in the Man Power Program and for Green Thumb.
She was a member of the planning commission for the Bear Soldier District. She attended the Christian Missionary Alliance and Grace Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, led Bible study and helped young individuals attend Camp Byron in Huron.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and was a seamstress.
Survivors include two sons, Bernard Iron Shield of Minneapolis and Brian Iron Shield of McLaughlin; five daughters, Kathy Antelope and Beverly Iron Shield, both of McLaughlin, Lori Head of Fort Thompson, Corrine Elenbaas of Evansville, Ind., and Melanie Dobler of Minot, N.D.; one brother, Martin Hat of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Melda Takes The Hat and Marie Brave Crow, both of McLaughlin; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Calvin Rough Surface, Wallace Iron Shield and LeRoy Dobler; two sons; one daughter; three brothers; and three sisters.
Casketbearers will be Fritz Eagle Shield Jr., Kass Gayton, Pete Three Legs, Joe Agard Sr., Todd Rough Sr., Leon Smith, Alan Johnson and Bernard Iron Shield.

Nora Hawk
Wakpala — The funeral for Nora Hawk, 88, of Wakpala will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Wakpala. The Rev. Webster Two Hawk and the Rev. Dan Makes Good will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.
A family service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the conclusion of the family service.
She died on Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Nora M. Red Horse was born to Zedol and Ellen (Shoots Near) Red Horse in Wakpala. She graduated from Wakpala High School in 1933. She attended the St. Barnabus School of Nursing in Minneapolis. She returned home after graduation and worked at the Fort Yates Hospital.
She married Isaac Hawk on Aug. 6, 1941, and they lived near Wakpala.
She was a supervisor for the head start program in Wakpala, a home school coordinator for the Wakpala Public School, Arts and Crafts coordinator for the CAP program in the 1960s and district treasurer for the Wakpala district for several years. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth's Mission Complex Board until it was dissolved by the Bishop.
Survivors include one son, Pat Hawk, and one daughter, Margie Hawk, both of Wakpala; one adopted daughter, Judy Goalswyk of Rapid City; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two daughters. Casketbearers will be Jasper Iron Cloud, Patrick Hawk, Jr., Daniel Yellow Horse, Chaske Red Horse, Ron Chase Alone, Sr. and Danny Hawk.
