Armada Reindl
Eagle Butte -- The funeral for Armada Reindl, 'Winyan Wakanwin' (Holy Woman), 64, of Eagle Butte will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Cherry Creek Gym. The Rev. Richard Charging Eagle, Deacon Dora Bruguier and the Mennonite group will officiate.
Burial will be in the Episcopal Cemetery in Cherry Creek with Luce Funeral Home in Eagle Butte in charge of arrangements.
A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the gym.
She died of natural causes Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Indian Health Services Hospital in Eagle Butte.
Armada Wanita Blue Arm was born March 5, 1937, to Lacey Blue Arm One Skunk in Cherry Creek. She attended the Cherry Creek Day School and then the Old Cheyenne Agency as far as the eighth grade.
She married Paul Reindl of Wisconsin on April 8, 1958, in Rapid City. In 1964, she returned to Cherry Creek and worked at the Cherry Creek Store until the store burned down. She then worked for Pete and Faye Longbrake and Louie and Maryann Knight. In later years due to her long-term illness she moved to Eagle Butte where she resided until the time of her death.
She was involved in church, was a Bible school teacher, and was a member of the Mothers Club, Women's Veterans Auxiliary and the Indian Club.
She enjoyed crocheting, making star quilts, playing the organ and piano for church services, and singing gospel songs.
Survivors include three sons, Mathew P. (Nancy) Reindl, Mark B. (Diane) Reindl and Maris R. (Kathy) Reindl; two daughters, Marletta W. (Bob) Reindl Harding and Bonnie Martinez of Sterling, Colo.; two sisters, Delores Curley and Lucinda Janis; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her stepfather, two brothers and one grandson.
Effie (Blue Hair) Smith
Colorado Springs, Colo. -- The funeral for Effie (Blue Hair) Smith, 37, of Colorado Springs and formerly of Eagle Butte, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Church of Christ in Cherry Creek. The Rev. Richard Charging Eagle and the Rev. Norman Blue Coat will officiate.
Burial will be in the Congregational Cemetery in Cherry Creek with Luce Funeral Home in Eagle Butte in charge of arrangements.
A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
She died Friday, June 29, 2001, in Colorado Springs.
Effie Patricia Blue Hair was born Sept. 6, 1963, to Robert and Rosina (Eagle Horse) Blue Hair in Eagle Butte. In 1997, she moved to Colorado Springs.
Survivors include four sons, Adrian Smith, Mitch Smith, Quentin Smith and Quillan Smith, all of Colorado Springs; four brothers, Ellery Blue Hair of Sioux Falls, and Erwin Blue Hair, Everlee Blue Hair and Eddie Crow, all of Cherry Creek; four sister, Monica Harold and Celestine Curley, both of Cherry Creek, Mary Miller of Timber Lake and Eveleen Blue Hair of Bismarck, N.D.; and special fiend, Willard Smith of Colorado Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Maynard Summers Sr.
Fort Pierre -- The funeral for Maynard Summers Sr., 62, of Fort Pierre will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the LaPlant Community Building. The Rev. Charles Snipes will officiate.
Burial will be in the Congregational Cemetery in LaPlant with Luce Funeral Home in Eagle Butte in charge of arrangements.
He died of natural causes Saturday, June 30, 2001, at his home.
Maynard Summers was born Sept. 18, 1938, to Milton and Ada (Chase Alone) Summers in LaPlant. He grew up in LaPlant and received his education at the Old Cheyenne Agency. He entered the U.S. Army Airborne and served for three years. Following the service he moved to the Hayes-Fort Pierre area and worked for area farmers and ranchers. He was currently living in Fort Pierre.
He married Mae D'Horse in LaPlant.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Ann Summers of Cannonball, N.D., and Minnie Summers of Wanblee; one son, Maynard Summers Jr. of Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, Edward Summers and Milton Summers Jr., both of Cannonball; one sister, Belva Frank of Isabel; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three grandchildren and one brother.
Rosalia Schaffer
Pierre -- The funeral for Rosalia Schaffer, 89, of Pierre and formerly of Aberdeen and Selby, was June 30 at the Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. The Rev. Bryce Fellbaum officiated.
Burial was in the Selby Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
She died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Maryhouse Nursing Care Center in Pierre.
Rosalia Kolasch was born Nov. 7, 1911, to Anton and Magdalena (Bender) Kolasch in Belfield, N.D. She grew up in the Belfield area and helped out on the family farm.
She married Ed Schaffer in October 1940 in Leola. The couple then moved to Selby where she owned and operated a cafe for many years. She moved to Aberdeen and worked at St. Luke's and St. Mary's. She moved to Pierre in 1968 and also worked there. She was currently residing in Pierre at the time of her death.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son.
Jeanette (Peterson) Lund
Long Beach, Calif. -- Jeanette Lund, 76, of Long Beach and formerly of Frederick, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Long Beach.
Her memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stricklin-Snively Mortuary in Long Beach.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn in Long Beach.
Jeanette Lucille Peterson was born July 10, 1924, to John and Tynne Peterson of Frederick.
She married T. Ross Lund on March 27, 1947. They lived most of their married life in Long Beach.
Survivors include her husband of Long Beach; one daughter, Linda Groover of Irvine, Calif.; one son, Gregory Lund of Long Beach; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Roy A. Lenz
Gettysburg -- Mass of Christian burial for Roy A. Lenz, 86, of Gettysburg will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gettysburg. The Rev. Ken Lulf will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the Ralph Leui American Legion Post No. 135 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at the Gettysburg Memorial Hospital.
Roy Alvin Lenz was born April 14, 1915, to Herman and Anna (Johnson) Lenz in rural Potter County. He attended a rural school and graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1933. Following graduation he worked on the L.W. 'Mike' Herron farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1941 and was stationed in the 2nd Platoon at Fort Knox, Ky. He saw service in the European Theater of Ardennes, Central Europe, Algeria-French Morocco, Sicily, Normandy and Northern France during his four years of service. He was decorated with the American Defense Service Medal and five Overseas Bars. He received his honorable discharge in October 1945, having attained the rank of sergeant. He returned to Potter County and worked for Rose Smith.
He married Lorraine Heck on June 5, 1946, in Gettysburg. They established their home in Gettysburg. He worked for Montana Dakota Utility for 33 years in the Gettysburg area. He was an active member of the Gettysburg Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years and was presented with a Citation of Service upon his retirement. Following his retirement in the 1980s, he and his wife traveled and spent winters in Texas. They also cared for his mother for 9 1/2 years when her health failed. He spent the last years in the Oahe Manor.
He was a member of Ralph Leui American Legion Post No. 135 and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and wildlife. He also enjoyed his yard and raised a large garden.
Survivors include his wife of Gettysburg; one son, Dennis Lenz of Gettysburg; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and two brothers.
Casketbearers will be Randy Glodt, Dan Glodt, Jim Reuer, Dalen Lenz, Dean Simon, Mike Pruitt, Bob Siebrasse and Owen Bakkegard.
Carl F. Glur
Ashley, N.D. -- The funeral for Carl F. Glur, 81, of Ashley will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Ashley. The Rev. Darwin Kopfmann will officiate.
Burial will be in the Ashley City Cemetery with Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
He died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at the Ashley Medical Center.
Carl F. Glur was born Feb. 25, 1920, to George and Katherina (Huether) Glur on a farm near Venturia, N.D. He attended a rural school. In 1928, his parents sold the farm and moved to Ashley. He completed his education and graduated from Ashley High School in 1939. After graduation, he was employed for three years with Walter Doerr Oil Company. He was then employed by Feil's Meat Market where he worked with his father butchering and making fry sausage and bologna.
He married Alvina Dobler on July 4, 1940, in Ashley. After Feils sold the meat market, he went to work for Charlie Fischer's Meat Market in Long Lake for two years. He and his wife worked for Denny Whelon's Meat Processing west of Ellendale, N.D., for three years. During the summer he drove milk truck for the Medina Cheese Company. He spent 21 years in the meat processing business. He then worked at Blumhardt Manufacturing in Ashley in the steel department for nine years. After retirement, he continued to live in Ashley. He helped out at G&G Chevrolet as a driver and delivery person.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Ashley where he served as head usher for many years.
He enjoyed fishing and taking care of his home and yard.
Survivors include one son, Gerald (Mavis) Glur of Ashley; one brother, Edwin H. Glur of Fargo, N.D.; one half sister, Edna Gross of Ashley; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, four half brothers and three half sisters.
Casketbearers will be Ray Goehring, Robert Pfeifle and LaDelle George, all of Ashley, Gregory Glur of Fargo, Edwin H. Glur Jr. of Minneapolis and Gary Feil of Fort Collins, Colo.
