Clara M. Bien
Denver -- The funeral for Clara M. Bien, 85, of Denver and formerly of Veblen, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Veblen. The Rev. Kirsten Frantsvog will officiate.
Burial will be in the Trondhjem Cemetery near Veblen with Price Funeral Chapel in Britton in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel in Britton. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church in Veblen.
She died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Porter Memorial Hospital in Denver.
Clara Marie Damgaard was born July 8, 1915, to Peter Godtfred and Jensina C. (Christensen) Damgaard in Lindsey, Neb. As a child, she moved with her family to South Dakota and grew up on a farm in Wismer Township, Marshall County. She graduated from Britton High School and attended Northern Normal and Industrial School in Aberdeen. She received a teacher's certificate and began teaching in a one-room country school in Hamilton Township, Marshall County. She then taught at Nordland No. 1 School.
She married Emil Otto Bien on Dec. 26, 1939, in Veblen. They farmed, ranched and raised a family, which included nephew Orville Skogen. Her husband died July 16, 1961. After the children were raised, she went back to school. She obtained a master's degree in 1971. She began a second teaching career, spending 11 years in the Sisseton District, where she taught at the Peever Elementary School. After her retirement she lived for a time in Riverside, Calif. For the past few years she had lived in Denver. She returned to South Dakota every summer she could.
She was a member of Trondhjem Lutheran Church near Veblen and was active in the Ladies Aid. She also taught Sunday school and Lutheran Children of the Reformation. When the church reorganized she joined Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Veblen.
She enjoyed sunrises, rainbows, newborn calves, gardening, teaching and cooking.
Survivors include five sons, Dr. Darl Bien of Denver, Neil (Muriel) Bien of Veblen, Lyle (Cathy) Bien of Encinitas, Calif., Gary (Vicki) Bien of Masonville, Colo., and Dr. Boyd (Kathie) Bien of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Edna (Tom) Anderson of Veblen and Rita (David) Hutchins of Riverside; two brothers, Harlan Damgaard and Arnold Damgaard, both of Britton; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister.
Casketbearers will be her grandchildren.
Kevin G. Eisenzimmer
Pequot Lakes, Minn. -- Kevin G. Eisenzimmer, 49, of Pequot Lakes died Monday, May 14, 2001, in Pequot Lakes.
His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, N.D.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Cando, N.D. Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Kevin G. Eisenzimmer was born Dec. 17, 1951, to Joseph and Delores (Goetz) Eisenzimmer in Rugby, N.D. He worked as a certified public accountant and most recently taught at Brainerd (Minn.) Community College.
He married Teresa Heardt in 1979 in Cando; she died in 1984.
He married Lissa Bushby on Aug. 19, 1988, in Britton.
Survivors include two sons, Casy Eisenzimmer and Joey Eisenzimmer, both of Grand Forks; his father of Cando; his mother of Grand Forks; one brother, Richard Eisenzimmer of Bemidji, Minn.; one sister, Vicki Eisenzimmer of Grand Forks; and two stepdaughters.
Ella Emilia Schaible
Aberdeen -- The funeral for Ella Emilia Schaible, 85, of 321 Ninth Ave. N.E. and formerly of Leola, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. James Lutheran Church in Leola. The Rev. Michael Jacobson will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenmound Cemetery in Leola with Straub's Funeral Home in Eureka in charge of arrangements.
Visitationwill be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, all at the funeral home in Eureka. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church in Leola.
She died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Ella Emilia Lammle was born May 7, 1916, to David F. and Eva (Maier) Lammle in rural McPherson County.
She married Jacob Schaible on Oct. 5, 1947, in Leola. They lived in Long Lake from 1947 to 1958, and in Leola from 1958 to 1998, when they moved to Aberdeen.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Leola and sang in the church choir. She was a substitute mail carrier, carried the Aberdeen American News from Craven Corner to Leola, and also worked at the Leola Hospital.
Her hobbies were crocheting, quilting, embroidery, baby-sitting and painting and refinishing woodwork.
Survivors include her husband of Aberdeen; one stepdaughter, Judith Marie Schaible of Rapid City; and two sisters, Ida Schumacher and Erma Goehring, both of Eureka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Casketbearers will be Leslie Schaible, Lyle Schaible, Cornelius Goehring, Steve Goehring, Jon Goehring and Bernard Krein.
Cleo Helen Meleken
Desert Hot Springs, Calif. -- Cleo Helen Meleken, 89, of Desert Hot Springs died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at her home.
Her funeral was May 15 at Christ Lutheran Church in Desert Hot Springs.
Burial will be at a later date in Groton Union Cemetery. Rose Mortuary in Desert Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements.
Cleo Helen Kurtz was born Feb. 7, 1912, to Hugo William and Maude (Haug) Kurtz in Groton.
She married Lee Meleken on Jan 17, 1933, in Aberdeen. They farmed in the Groton area until his death in 1948. She moved to California in 1952. She worked for Harbor Banana distributor as a bookkeeper for 30 years before retiring.
She belonged to Christ Lutheran Church in Desert Hot Springs.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Biggs of Desert Hot Springs; and one brother, Darrel Kurtz of Groton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, one sister and one granddaughter.
Laura E. Fritz
North Fort Meyers, Fla. -- The funeral for Laura E. Fritz, 73, of North Fort Meyers and formerly of Aberdeen, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 W. Melgaard Road., Aberdeen. The Rev. Guy Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Closed casket visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
She died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at her residence.
Laura E. Schoenrogge was born Sept. 30, 1927, to Herman E. and Kathryn (Bollinger) Schoenrogge in Fairfax. She attended grade school in Fairfax and graduated from Bonesteel High School. She then attended South Dakota State College in Brookings, where she received her pharmacy and honorary doctor's degree.
She married Earl R. Fritz on July 30, 1950, in Fairfax. They lived in Brookings until 1955, when they moved to Watertown. In 1965, they moved to Aberdeen, where she was employed as a call relief worker at St. Luke's Pharmacy, White Drug Pharmacy, Bethesda Nursing Home, Medical Center Pharmacy, Osco Drug Pharmacy, Gibson Pharmacy and Plaza Pharmacy. In 1970, they moved to Grand Island, Neb., and continued to live there until 1974, when they relocated to Liberal, Kan. In 1982, they returned to Aberdeen. She retired in 1986, and moved to Fort Meyers.
She served on Mayo Clinic Research for 37 years and volunteered for Jerry Lewis telethons. She worked for many nonprofit fund drives, serving as chairwoman for several in Watertown. She also did relief work in crippled children's hospitals.
She was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ. She was also a 50-year member of local, South Dakota and national pharmacy associations. She served as honorary president of the state organization in 1983.
Survivors include her husband of North Fort Meyers; one son, James E. (Kelli) Fritz of Barre, Vt.; one daughter, Peggy (Hal) Treeby of Hecla; one brother, Robert Schoenrogge of Sioux Falls; one sister, Ruth Frey of Rochester, Minn.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Casketbearers will be Duane Helmink, Harold Peterson, Dale Rost, Marv Magnusson, Dr. John Fritz and Don Kelpin.

LeRoy 'Tuffy' F. Obenauer
Aberdeen -- The funeral for LeRoy 'Tuffy' F. Obenauer, 63, of Aberdeen will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, 1732 S. Main St. The Rev. Dennis Hansen will officiate.
Robert Bob' J. Borszich
Gettysburg -- The funeral for Robert 'Bob' J. Borszich, 67, of Gettysburg will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the American Legion Hall in Gettysburg. The Rev. Bert Van Essen, Monsignor Marvin McPhee and Don Hericks will officiate.
Burial will be in the Gettysburg Cemetery with military rites. Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at his home.
Robert J. Borszich was born Nov. 26, 1933, to Anthony 'Tony' and Florence (Ferris) Borszich on the family farm near Lakeview. The family moved to Keyapaha when he was young. He began first grade at the Longview School in Tripp County. Later that year the family moved back to Lakeview where he completed the first grade. When he was in the eighth grade his family moved near Mission. He graduated from Todd County High School in 1951. He joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Gettysburg.
He married Jackie Potts on Oct. 20, 1956, in Gettysburg. His Air Force career lasted 20 years and took him to many foreign countries. He retired from the Air Force when he was 38 and they made their home in Gettysburg. He was employed as director of equalization, sold farm equipment for Nauman Farm Supply, worked at Potter County Implement, sold cars at Chase Ford, and returned to be director of equalization for Potter County, retiring in March 1999.
Survivors include his wife of Gettysburg; two sons, Jim (Rochelle) Borszich of Huron, and Mike (Sandy) Borszich of Sioux Falls; one daughter, Nanette (Tim) Rasmussen of Watertown; two brothers, Everett Borszich of North Carolina, and Tom Borszich of Valentine, Neb.; three sisters, Sister Helen Borszich of St. Francis, Camilla Keller of New Mexico, and Bernadette Usera of Sturgis; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
