Delilah J. Creek-Metcalf
Cherry Creek -- The funeral for Delilah J. Creek-Metcalf, 41, of Cherry Creek will be at 2 p.m. today at the New Community Hall in Cherry Creek. The Rev. Tony Garter and deacon Dora Bruguier will officiate.
Burial will be in the United Church of Christ Cemetery with Luce Funeral Home in Eagle Butte in charge of arrangements.
She died of natural causes Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Delilah J. Creek was born July 27, 1959, to Cyril Michael Creek and Eunice M. Eagle Horse-Creek in Cherry Creek. She grew up and attended school in Cherry Creek.
She married Stanley F. Metcalf Jr. on Dec. 13, 1980, in Eagle Butte. They had two children.
Survivors include her husband of Cherry Creek; one son, Monty Hale of Eagle Butte; three daughters, Londa Hale of Cherry Creek, and Sondra F. Metcalf and Rose Marie Metcalf, both of Eagle Butte; five sisters, Patricia L. Collier, Tisa Carter, Delia Francois and Vivian Johnson, all of Eagle Butte, and Della Creek of Cherry Creek; and four brothers, Dale Hale of Cherry Creek, Carl Dupris of Timber Lake, Cletis Creek of Pierre and Clayton Creek of Sioux Falls.
She was preceded in death by her mother and grandmothers.
Louise M. Hartung
Huron -- Louise M. Hartung, 57, of Huron and formerly of Aberdeen, died of natural causes Monday, May 7, 2001, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Resurrection in Huron. The Rev. Joe Holzhauser will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery in Huron with Welter Funeral Home in Huron in charge of arrangements.
A scripture service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the Mass Friday at the church.
Louise M. LaFrance was born Feb. 3, 1944, to Ernest and Lea (Schann) LaFrance in Devils Lakes, N.D. She attended schools in Devils Lake and graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1962. She graduated from Stewart's School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen in 1963.
She married John Hartung of Hoven on Oct. 19, 1963, in Devils Lake. They owned and operated Mr. John's Beauty Salon in Huron.
Survivors include her husband of Huron; two daughters, Sharleen (Gary) Hansen of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Michelle Hartung of Huron; one son, Shane (Nancy) Hartung of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Donna Anderson of Ceres, Calif., and her twin, Linda Walish of Buffalo, Minn.; three brothers, Ernest LaFrance Jr. of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Tim LaFrance of Durango, Colo., and Terry LaFrance of Devils Lake; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Hattie B. Kurle
Java -- The funeral for Hattie B. Kurle, 95, of Java will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Java. The Rev. Del Neumeister will officiate.
Marvin Eschenbaum
Orient -- Mass of Christian burial for Marvin Eschenbaum, 78, of Orient will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Orient. The Rev. Randy Phillips will officiate.
Bernice D. (Lehr) Mayer
Coon Rapids, Minn. -- The funeral for Bernice D. (Lehr) Mayer, 61, of Coon Rapids and formerly of Aberdeen, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen. The Rev. Donna Smith will officiate.
Private family burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens at Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to the time of the service Tuesday, all at the funeral home.
She died of natural causes Friday, May 4, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
Bernice D. Lehr was born Jan. 28, 1940, to Emil and Christina (Gramm) Lehr at Hillsview. She attended school in Hillsview and moved with her family to Aberdeen.
She married Leonard A. Mayer on June 17, 1961, at Aberdeen. They lived in Aberdeen before moving to Grand Island, Neb. He died March 8, 1995. She moved to Coon Rapids where she remained until the time of her death.
She enjoyed flowers, especially roses.
Survivors include one son, Michael L. (Tonya) Mayer of Hemingford, Neb.; four daughters, Tammy J. (Daniel) Smith and Christine K. (Chad) Lane, both of Grand Island, Rhonda L. (Michael) Fisk of Coon Rapids and Penny K. (Mark) Rape of Cantonment, Fla.; six brothers, Ervin Lehr, Walter Lehr and Allen Lehr, all of Aberdeen, Alvin Lehr of Houghton, Rueben Lehr of Rapid City and Robert Lehr of Mina; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers, one in infancy.
Laverne Joseph Lapka
Ipswich -- Mass of Christian burial for Laverne Joseph Lapka, 83, of Ipswich and formerly of Leola, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Leola. The Rev. Thomas Clement will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary, 414 Fifth Ave. N.W., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service today at the church in Leola.
He died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Ipswich.
Laverne Joseph Lapka was born Feb. 16, 1918, to George and Irene (Ganser) Lapka on the family farm near Leola. He attended Willow Township Country School. For several years he worked for area farmers in the Elkton and Brookings area and also for a threshing crew.
He married Elta Bain on June 11, 1940, in Leola. In 1941 they made their home on a farm six miles east and two miles north of Leola. In the late 1980s, they retired from farming and moved into Leola where he helped with remodeling and shingling houses. He had resided at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Ipswich for the past two years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Leola Hospital board of directors and the co-op board of directors.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of Ipswich; one daughter, Eileen Merkel of Newport News, Va.; three sons, Leon Lapka of Anchorage, Alaska, Ray (Barb) Lapka of Mitchell and Loel (Judy) Lapka of Ipswich; two sisters, Lucille Geffre of Leola and Anita Geffre of Ipswich; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and three brothers.
Casketbearers will be Jerome Lapka, Ron Schumack, Ron Geffre, Lee Geffre, Bruce Geffre and Glen Geffre.
Marjorie Margie' Sandve
Langford -- The funeral for Marjorie 'Margie' Sandve, 67, of Langford will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Langford. The Rev. Janine Rew-Werling will officiate.
Burial will be in the Falnes Cemetery at rural Langford. Price Funeral Chapel of Britton is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7:30 tonight at the funeral chapel in Britton.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the conclusion of the prayer service today at the funeral chapel in Britton and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church in Langford.
She died Friday, May 4, 2001, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Marjorie Gay Haywood was born April 30, 1934, to John 'Jack' and Hulda (Swanson) Haywood at Langford. She grew up and attended Langford schools, and she graduated from Langford High School in 1952. After receiving her education she worked as a waitress at a cafe, as a clerk in the Aspen Drugstore and at Erickson's Grocery, all in Langford.
She married Tamlin C. Sandve on Dec. 28, 1953, in rural Langford. They lived on a farm near Langford until 1959 when they moved to town. She continued to work part time at Erickson's Grocery and served as a clerk in the post office.
She was a member of the Falnes Lutheran Church in rural Langford where she had been active in the Ladies Aid and in one of the ladies' circles.
She enjoyed playing bingo, watching and feeding birds and squirrels and spending time at their cabin at Pickerel Lake.
Survivors include her husband of Langford; four sons, Tom (Mary) Sandve and Chad (Jill) Sandve, both of Huron, Terry Sandve of Britton and Tim Sandve of Langford; one daughter, Marcia (David) Olson of Langford; two sisters, Sally Johnson of Britton and Virginia Sparby of Montevideo, Minn.; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Casketbearers will be Jon Olson, Matt Sandve, David Sandve, Steve Olson, Blaine Haywood and Brian Olson.
Elsie Bradke
Aberdeen -- The funeral for Elsie Bradke, 103, of Aberdeen will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Frederick. The Rev. Joanne Nagele will officiate.
Burial will be in the Wayside Cemetery at Frederick. Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, all at the funeral home in Aberdeen. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church in Frederick.
She died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at the Aberdeen Living Center.
Elsie Bradke was born Jan. 23, 1898, to Edward Paul and Louise Johanna (Reiman) Bradke in Neustadt, Germany. In 1904 she and her family came to the United States by ship. They lived in Gresham, Neb., and lived there until 1908 when they moved to and homesteaded on a farm three miles east of Barnard. She attended country school near Barnard. At the age of 9, she worked for many families as a midwife, cooking and cleaning in the Westport, Barnard and Leola areas. She also worked for neighbors pitching bundles. At age 18 she moved to Aberdeen and was a cook for Lincoln Hospital for seven and one-half years. In 1932 she and her brother Adolph moved to a farm in the Hecla area. They retired in 1973 and moved to Frederick, living there until December 1995 when she became a resident of the Aberdeen Living Center.
She made quilts at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Frederick.
She loved cooking.
Survivors include one sister, Martha Meier of Post Falls, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Casketbearers will be Myron Meyers, Leslie Meyers, Bob Tople, Lyle Peterson, Jerome Bradke and Ray Shatzka.
