Anna M. Beck
Meridian, Idaho -- The funeral for Anna M. Beck, 92, of Meridian and formerly of Ipswich, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Ipswich United Church of Christ. The Rev. John Sehring will officiate.
Burial will be in the Ipswich City Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home in Bowdle. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church in Ipswich.
She died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Meridian.
Anna Maria Laib was born March 18, 1909, to Maria (Hoffman) and Jacob Laib near Java in Walworth County. She was raised there and attended rural school through the eighth grade.
She married John Beck on Feb. 3, 1927, in Bowdle. They lived on a farm northeast of Java until 1937, when they moved to a farm southeast of Roscoe. In 1944, they purchased a farm north of Ipswich. In March 1977, he became ill and they sold the farm and purchased a home in Ipswich. He died Sept. 3, 1977. She lived at the house and later moved to the senior citizen housing apartments. In September 1997, she moved to the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Elsie and Dale Bring, in Meridian. Due to declining health she lived the last month of her life at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Meridian.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Ipswich.
She loved her flower and vegetable gardens and spent a great deal of time outdoors.
Survivors include one son, Alvin (Naomi) Beck of Caldwell, Idaho; three daughters, Evelina Schumacher of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Elsie (Dale) Bring and Florence (Bill) Goehner, both of Meridian; one sister, Ruth Walker of Rapid City; 21 grand-children; 38 great - grand-children; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one daughter, three brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Casketbearers will be George Semmler of Hitchcock, Donald Jones, Doug Jones, Vernon Rohrbach and Earl Johnson, all of Ipswich, and Wayne Beck of Aberdeen.
Blanche Schlomer
Mobridge -- The funeral for Blanche Schlomer, 80, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge. The Rev. Peter J. Naumann will officiate.
Burial will be in the Glenham Cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
She died Monday, April 16, 2001.
Blanche Larson was born Sept. 27, 1920, to Peter and Amanda (Jones) Larson on a farm four miles north of Glenham. She grew up there and attended Franklin rural school near her home. She graduated from Glenham High School in 1938.
She married Codie Schlomer on Oct. 14, 1938, in Mobridge. They made their home in Glenham. From 1963 to 1965 she worked as a cook at the Glenham School. In 1965 they moved to Eagle Butte, where he managed Prairie Lumber and she did the bookkeeping. In 1972 the lumber yard burned down and they moved to Mobridge, where she had since resided. She worked as a dietary aide at the Mobridge Regional Hospital until her retirement in April 2000.
She was a member of St. Jacobi Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glenham and was a past member of the First English Church in Dupree.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include three sons, Gary (Alyce) Schlomer of Lakewood, Colo., and Dana (Karen) Schlomer and Orin Schlomer, both of Mandan, N.D.; two daughters, Judy Ann (Jim) Curran of Mobridge and Boni (Mike) Weber of Green Bay, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and four brothers.
Casketbearers will be her grandchildren.
Alvin Liedtke
Webster -- The funeral for Alvin Liedtke, 76, of Webster will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster. The Rev. William Olsen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery with military rites by Herbert McKennett American Legion Post No. 40 of Webster. Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will also be visitation prior to the service Friday at the church.
He died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at his home.
Alvin Ernest Liedtke was born May 8, 1924, to Ernest and Beulah (Clark) Liedtke in Glenham. When he was a small child, his family moved to Lemmon, where he attended school through his sophomore year. Because of the death of his parents he returned to Glenham to live with his mother's parents. He graduated from school there. In February 1944 he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Glenham. In September 1946 he began working for the Glenham Equity Exchange.
He married Viola Borth on June 22, 1947, in Herreid. They made their home in Glenham, and he continued to work for the Glenham Equity Exchange, where he was eventually promoted to assistant manager. In July 1956 they moved to Ipswich, where he was manager of Farmers Equity Elevator. In October 1958 they moved to Mobridge, where he worked for Farmland Industries as a territorial fieldman until September 1962. They then moved to Canton, where he was manager of Farmers Co-op Oil Company. In 1968 the couple moved to Webster, where he was manager of Community Oil Company for nine months and again worked with Farmland Industries as a territorial fieldman until his retirement in August 1986.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster, where he served on the church council, was an usher and greeter. He was active in the scouting program, Lions Club, Herbert McKennett American Legion Post No. 40, where he was a past Commander, and also belonged to Webster Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4690.
He collected stamps and coins and gas pump globes. He loved to fish, hunt and travel and enjoyed sports.
Survivors include his wife of Webster; one son, Charles (Laura) Liedtke of Excelsior, Minn.; three daughters, Jan (Frank) Arvizu of Tracy, Minn., Cynthia (Scott) Sikkink of Aberdeen and Cheryl (Howard) Miller of Marshall, Minn.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother and one sister.
Casketbearers will be Howard Miller, Scott Sikkink, Frank Arvizu, Jon Giese, Jim Otto and Zachary Blomme.
Arthur Totzke
Groton -- The funeral for Arthur Totzke, 90, of Groton will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Groton.
Burial will be at a later date in the Union Cemetery at Groton with military rites by the Groton Legion Post No. 39. Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
He died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton.
Arthur Harold Totzke was born Nov. 12, 1910, to Frank and Mary (Nefs) Totzke in rural Andover. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served overseas in Saipan for two years. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to South Dakota, living in the Andover/ Groton area.
He married June Simonson in 1936. He worked as a bulk delivery driver for High Grade Oil Company for 32 years. He then worked for the city of Groton for 12 years. She died July 25, 1978.
He married Jennie (Ness) Johnson on Aug. 15, 1982. She died July 1, 1998.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Groton, the Groton Senior Citizens and the American Legion.
He enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include two stepsons, Merton Johnson of Groton and Lyle Johnson of Houston; one stepdaughter, Arlys Zoellner of Manhattan, Kan.; six stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, seven sisters, two brothers, one stepson and one stepgranddaughter.
Casketbearers will be Loren Johnson, Neil Johnson, Rob Wanous, Wally Fischer, Bob Wegner and Merton Johnson.
Arthur Totzke
Groton -- A committal service for Arthur Totzke, 90, of Groton will be at noon today at the Groton Union Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Groton American Legion Post No. 39. There will also be Masonic rites. Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton is in charge of arrangements.
He died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton.
Garrick Badger Logsdon
Worden, Mont. -- The funeral for Garrick Badger Logsdon, 28, of Worden will be at 10 a.m. at the Prairie Hills Church of God in Lemmon. The Rev. Wayne Chant will officiate.
Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery. Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home of Lemmon is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 tonight at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
He died Sunday, April 15, 2001, near Billings, Mont.
Garrick Badger Logsdon was born May 8, 1972, to Garth and 'Berdi' (Hilderman) Logsdon at Payson, Utah. He graduated from high school in 1990 in Fairplay, Colo. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He married Michelle Wooten. He worked in Nevada as a gold miner for several years before moving to Worden.
Survivors include his wife of Worden; one son, Cole Badger Logsdon of Worden; one daughter, Keyona Logsdon of Worden; his father of Paonia, Colo.; his mother, "Berdi" Marquez of Monte Vista, Colo.; and two sisters, Kelly McKnight of Amarillo, Texas, and Luci Creery of Alamosa, Colo.
Hilda Simon
Hoven -- Mass of Christian burial for Hilda Simon, 81, of Hoven will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hoven. The Rev. Joseph D. Short and the Rev. Brian P. Simon will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle is in charge of arrangements.
A wake service will be at 8 tonight at the church.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at the church.
She died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Holy Infant Hospital in Hoven.
Hilda Hericks was born July 5, 1919, to Magdalena (Meyer) and Henry Hericks in Hoven. She attended St. Anthony's Grade School in Hoven, graduating in 1934. She then worked as a hired girl for many families. Later she worked in the dietary department of the Pierre Hospital and worked as a housekeeper for the Rev. Peter Meyer in Gettysburg.
She married LeRoy Simon on Sept. 3, 1940, in Hoven. They farmed in the Hoven-Lebanon area for 30 years. In 1970, they sold the farm and moved into Hoven. He died Sept. 16, 1995. She remained in Hoven the remainder of her life.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hoven and was active in the Catholic Aid Society, serving as its treasurer for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Larry L. (Nikki) Simon of Bryan, Ohio, and Darrel L. (Patricia) Simon of Madison; three daughters, Diana Cotton of Rapid City, Carol Jean Krumm of Aberdeen and Burlene (John) Schultze of Sioux Falls; two brothers, Leo Hericks of San Rafael, Calif., and Norbert Hericks of Hoven; four sisters, Sister Pauline Hericks of Watertown, Sister Aimee Hericks of Yankton, Adella Hericks of Denver and Mary Rose Stuwe of Hoven; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four brothers.
Casketbearers will be Jerry Brickner, Joe Hartung, Wayne Stuwe, Charles Simon and Richard Kaup, all of Hoven, and Rick Simon of Lebanon.
