Newell E. Seeman
Rockham -- The graveside service for Newell E. Seeman, 76, of Rockham will be in Rockham Cemetery this week.
His body will be cremated. Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield is in charge of arrangements.
He died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Newell E. Seeman was born, Nov. 30, 1924, to Lloyd and Dora (Erickson) Seeman in Rockham. He grew up in Rockham and graduated from Rockham High School in 1943. He joined the U.S. Army and served with the 12th Armored Division during World War II. He was honorably discharged on July 22, 1955. He returned to Rockham and worked as a carpenter. He then worked as a rural mail carrier until his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one brother, Lloyd Seeman of Oceanside, Calif.; and one sister, Myrt Boyd of Sun City West, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother in infancy.
Emilia Delzer
Wishek, N.D. -- The funeral for Emilia Delzer, 89, of Wishek and formerly of Ashley, N.D., and Eureka, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ashley Baptist Church. The Rev. Darwin Stahl and the Rev. Marty Toepke-Floyd will officiate.
Burial will be in the Venturia Baptist Cemetery in Venturia, N.D. Carlsen Funeral Home in Ashley is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, all at the funeral home. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
She died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Wishek Nursing Home.
Emilia Lutz was born Jan. 11, 1912, to Adam and Caroline (Dohn) Lutz in Greenway. She grew up in Greenway and attended country school.
She married Emil C. Delzer on Nov. 10, 1932, at Greenway. In 1944, they moved to Ashley, where they owned and operated a service station for many years. She began working as a housekeeper and nanny for Dr. Leo and Margaret Cohen in 1951. In 1960, they sold the service station. He died Jan. 20, 1979. She moved to Eureka and made her home in the Lakeview Apartments. In June 1998, she entered the Wishek Nursing Home.
She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church and a past member of Ashley Baptist Church.
She enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking for others. She was known for her hospitality.
Survivors include one son, Bruce (Phyllis) Delzer of Bismarck, N.D.; two daughters, Leona (Darwin) Werth of Hanover, Calif., and Debra (Bob) Wingenbach of Mandan, N.D.; one brother, Emanuel Lutz of Lodi, Calif.; two sisters, Rose Fischer and Elsie Knoepfle, both of Eureka; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and four sisters.
Casketbearers will be Ian Schmidt of Minot, N.D., Eric Wingenbach and Matthew Wingenbach, both of Mandan, Jeff Becker of Plymouth, Minn., and Glenn Herr and Barrett Herr, both of Wishek.
Alice D. Baird
Redfield -- Alice D. Baird, 96, of Redfield died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Eastern Star Home in Redfield.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Frankfort. The Rev. Donald Barbalace will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Frankfort. Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Redfield.
Alice Carstensen was born June 20, 1904, to John and Agatha (Nahnsen) Carstensen in Gowrie, Iowa. She grew up near Farnhamville, Iowa, and graduated from Farnhamville High School.
She married Paul Baird on June 30, 1925, on the family farm near Farnhamville. They lived in Frankfort. They wintered in Arizona for 30 years. In 1988, she moved to Redfield and had been at the Eastern Star Home since 1990. He died in 1995.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebeccah Lodge, and American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a charter member of the Happy Hour Extension Club. She was active in the Rural Mail Carriers Association for many years, holding various offices.
She enjoyed crafts, traveling, playing bridge and being active in the community.
Survivors include three sons, John (Marge) Baird of Prescott, Ariz., and Stanley Baird and Berwyn Baird, both of Frankfort; four daughters, Dona Baird of Chico, Calif., Jeanette Meile of Hartford, Judy (George) Hurst of Sioux Falls, and Paula (Dave) Lorenz of Westchester, Pa.; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and one sister.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons.
Kathryn 'Kay' Terry
Redfield -- Kathryn 'Kay' Terry, 86, of Redfield died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Redfield.
Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational-United Church of Christ in Redfield. The Rev. Tim Fugman will officiate.
Burial of her cremains will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield is in charge of arrangements.
Kathryn Kiel was born May 11, 1914, to Guy and Alice (Whistler) Kiel in Watertown. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School.
She married Harold A. Terry on Jan. 6, 1937, in Huron. They lived in Redfield and owned and operated Terry's Bar for many years before retiring. He died in 1982.
She was a member of First Congregational-United Church of Christ, Eastern Star and Fisher Grove Country Club.
She enjoyed golf, playing bridge, gardening and the outdoors. She was known for her accuracy with a shotgun.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Nancy) Terry of Redfield; one sister, Donna Melum of Redfield; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter and one brother.
Phyllis Maier Wohlrabe
Las Vegas -- Phyllis Maier Wohlrabe, 74, of Las Vegas and formerly of Aberdeen, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Las Vegas.
A gathering of friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis.
Her body will be cremated. Nevada Funeral Service of Las Vegas is in charge of arrangements.
Phyllis Maier was born Jan. 25, 1927, to John J. and Christine (Gross) Maier in Aberdeen. She graduated from high school in Aberdeen and then moved to Minneapolis, where she completed her bachelor of arts and registered nurse degrees from the University of Minnesota and St. Barnabas Hospital Nursing School in Minneapolis. In 1990, she began a a career as an investment advisor. She moved to the Las Vegas area in 1995.
She was a longtime member of the Woman's Club of Minneapolis, Friends of The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and Hennepin County Medical Auxiliary. She served on the Guthrie Theater Board of Directors, where she was the first woman elected to the executive committee and was founding president of the Guthrie Stagehands. She also served on the boards of the Center Opera Theatre and Cricket Theatre. In Las Vegas she was active in the community through her work with the Mesquite Club, the Salvation Army Auxiliary and the Actors Repertory Theatre.
She was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Wohlrabe of Tiburon, Calif., Barbie Wohlrabe of Dallas, and Lori Wohlrabe of St. Louis Park, Minn.; one son, Robert Jason Wohlrabe of San Rafael, Calif.; and one sister, Jean Mullan of Nipomo, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mearle G. Duis
Gettysburg -- Mearle G. Duis, 56, of Gettysburg died of natural causes Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg. The Rev. James Weems will officiate.
Burial will be in the Gettysburg Cemetery.
Mearle G. Duis was born March 13, 1945, to George and Leona Duis in Gothenburg, Neb. He attended country school north of Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School. He spent most of his life in Nebraska doing construction.
He married Marie Liljestrand in 1965 in Brady, Neb. He moved to Gettysburg in July 1992 while doing construction. He had been working for Nold Veterinary Supply for the past few years.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially pheasant hunting.
Survivors include three brothers, Lamoine Duis of Lexington, Neb., Kermit Duis of Ashby, Neb., and Clifford Duis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Loreli Elaine Lorentz
Agency Village -- Loreli Elaine Lorentz, 67, of Agency Village died Sunday, April 1, 2001, after a short bout with cancer.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton. The Rev. Floyd Heminger and the Rev. Shirley Johnson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Goodwill Presbyterian Cemetery in Agency Village with Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton in charge of arrangements.
Loreli Elaine Gronau was born April 24, 1933, to Herman and Irene (Crawford) Gronau in Sisseton. She attended country school in the Sisseton area and later received education in Morris, Minn.
She married Pat Runyon. The couple lived in Minneapolis. She and her children returned and lived in Fargo, N.D. and Sisseton.
She was a lifetime member of the Goodwill Presbyterian Church.
Her hobbies included singing and playing guitar and piano.
Survivors include one daughter, Patty Runyon (Greg) Harles of Agency Village; one brother, Duane Gronau of Agency Village; four granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and two brothers.
