David Richard "DC" Cathcart, II, age 29 of Alcoa, died Friday, September 12, 2003, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He worked at Eagle Automotive Group.
Preceded in death by: grandparents, Gena and Fred Cathcart; grandmother, Emma Williams.
Survivors include: parents, David and Kaye Cathcart of Maryville; sister, Marcee Cathcart of Knoxville; niece, Miah Taylor; girlfriend, Beth Stevens; and children, Kelsey and Josh; special brothers, Michael Long and Glenn Davis.
Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2003, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Eric Gibby officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2003, at Toqua cemetery in Vonore, TN. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2003, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

OLIN CARTER `BUCKSHOT' HELTON
Olin Carter "Buckshot" Helton, age 74 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2003, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Buck was among the founders of Springview Baptist Church, where he served the Lord as choir director, Sunday school teacher, and a Christian mentor to the youth in the community. He was a veteran of The US Army having served during the Korean Conflict and a fifty-year member of IBEW Local #760.
Preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Mary Alice Helton; brothers, Wells and Bruce Helton; sister-in-law, Roberta Helton; and nephew, John Helton.
Survivors, brothers and sisters-in-law, Winston and Lyda Helton of Knoxville, Ray and Nancy Helton of Calhoun and Carl Helton of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Howard Hendrix of Knoxville, Betty Ernestine and Robert Debusk of Knoxville, Alemda Helton and Sally Helton both of Maryville; 15 nieces and nephews; 31 grand nieces and nephews; three great-grandnephews and a host of dear friends. Honorary pallbearers: Roy M. Brooks, Jimmy "Fuzz" Brooks, Kenneth "Gumbo" Smith, Dave Lee and Roger Hampton. Pallbearers: Hal Helton, Kenny Debusk, Eddie Debusk, Chris Barker, Doug Helton, Mark Cropley, Jeff Burris, Danny Debusk and Jerry Helton.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Springview Baptist Church, 4220 U.S. Hwy 411 South, Maryville, the Rev. Guy Milam, the Rev. Alvin Tallant and the Rev. Jeff Helton officiating. Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Springview Baptist Church Youth Department. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

VIVIAN K. JORDAN
Vivian K. Jordan, age 95 of Maryville passed away Monday September 15, 2003, at Colonial Hills Life Center. She was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church and retired from The State of Georgia with 30 years of service as a supervisor in the Welfare Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nellie Kaigler; sisters, Kathleen Jordan, Margarite Morris, Vernon Barton, Henrye Banks, and Rebecca Lee.
Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Davidson and Jean Jordan; granddaughters and spouse, Cheryl and Stephen Goepfert of Houston, TX, and Rebecca Jordan of Louisville, KY; great-granddaughters, Ann, Susan, and Kathy Goepfert of Texas.
Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and Interment at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003, at Grandview cemetery with the Rev. Bob Dalton officiating. Smith Mortuary 983-1000

HELEN IRENE LONG
Helen Irene Long, age 80, of Madisonville, passed away 7:30 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2003, at the home of her sister. Member of Oakland Methodist Church.
Survivors: sister, Joyce Millsaps, Madisonville; brothers and sister-in-law, Jay Long, Madisonville, Frank and Wanda Long, Vonore; nephew, Mike Long, Alabama; great-nephews, Cody, Kevin, Elric and Cory Long.
Preceded in death by parents, Roscoe and Della Long; nephew, Marc Long.
Funeral 8 p.m. Tuesday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. David Miller and Rev. Frank Hicks officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oakland Methodist Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.

OPAL BYRD LOVE
Opal Byrd Love, age 84 of Maryville died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was an employee of Lowes Drug Store for many years. preceded in death by: husband, Robert E. Love; parents, Joseph C. and Mary Jane Cook Byrd; brothers, Ellery Byrd, Frank Byrd, Ottis Byrd, Cyrus "C.C." Byrd, Jesse Byrd Sr., Virgil Byrd; sisters, Nancy Byrd Brush, Letha Byrd Chambers, Emma Byrd Neal.
Survivors include: step-daughter, Jean Love Dean of CA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2003, at Smith Mortuary with the Rev. Gary D. Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2003, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

EDGAR F. MILLER
Edgar F. Miller, age 84 of Maryville died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Shannondale. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church Maryville and a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He was the owner and operator of a local dry cleaning business.
Preceded in death by: parents, Fred and Mary Sue Miller; sisters, Carry-Lee Connatser and Jessie Mink; brothers, George, Earl, and J.B. Miller.
Survivors include: wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Tedford Miller; son and daughter-in-law, James and Kathy Miller of Asheville, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn S. and Rodney Jones of Alcoa, TN; grandchildren, Jenifer Miller of Asheville, NC, and Jared Miller of Clemson, SC; brother, James Miller of Fountain City, IN; sister, Edna Johnson of Louisville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2003, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Dr. John Sharp officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Grandview cemetery for the interment. ARTHUR TAYLOR PAYNE
Arthur Taylor Payne, age 52, of Rockwood, formerly of Maryville, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Metro General Hospital in Nashville.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by son, Arthur Marty Payne; sister, Kathy Sizemore; grandparents, Sherman and Hattie Payne, and Jimmy and Minnie Ogle.
Survivors include his wife, Deanna Payne; son, Eric Payne of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Mayra and James Dyer of Maryville; parents, Horace and Virda Payne of Seymour; grandchildren, Jamey Payne, Shasta Payne and Justin Dyer; brother and sister-in-law, John and Angie Payne of Pikeville, TN; and sister and brother-in-law, Tricia and Scott Dewar of Seymour.
Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2003, in the Dotson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jewell McCollum and the Rev. Robert Jennings officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Clark's Grove cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the East TN Veteran's Honor Guard. LINDA GAIL SCHUBERT
Linda Gail Schubert, 44, of Maryville died Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2003, at the family home.
Preceded in death by her father, Tommy Joe Boling; brothers, Tommy Joe Boling Jr. and Kenneth Boling.
Survivors include: her mother, Arvenia Hatcher Boling of Alcoa; daughters and son-in-law, Beverly and Wardell Fitzgerald of Louisville, Toni Spiva of Alcoa; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Kay and Darryl Abbott of Rockford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Connie Boling of Illinois, Mark and Laurie Boling of Illinois, Daryl and Tammie of Knoxville; grandson, Bryson Fitzgerald; considered as a daughter, Delta Copeland; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16 at Freedom to Worship Church, Rev. Floyd Lambert will officiate services. Receiving of friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the church. Friends and family will meet 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Clarks Grove cemetery for graveside service. Memorial Funeral Home of Maryville in charge of arrangements.

ALMA LEE GOOSIE
Alma Lee Goosie, age 88 of Tallassee, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2003 at her residence.
She was a member of the Bearden Chapter of the Eastern Star, a member of Middlebrook Pike Methodist Church and attended Top Of The World Chapel.
Mrs. Goosie is preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Goosie.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Doe) and Mary (Tommie) Goosie of Tallassee; two grandchildren, Mark and Loretta Goosie of Powell and Kathy and Gary Varner of Corryton; two great-grandchildren, Shane and Blake Goosie of Powell; one sister, Hazel Belitz of Alabama.
Graveside services will be held Monday, September 15, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Edgewood Cemetery.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GARY MICHAEL HARMON
Gary Michael Harmon, age 53 of Pigeon Forge, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2003 at U.T. Medical Center. He attended church at the Big Valley Campground and preceded in death by parents, J.B. and Bobbie Harmon.
Survivors include wife, Shirley Harmon; children, Lou Ann Myers and Nickie Harmon both of Pigeon Forge; grandchildren, Blake Harmon and Victoria Pittman; sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and Wilson Finger of Alcoa.
Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Magnolia cemetery for graveside service and interment, Rev. Bob Hurst officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
