MICHAEL B. WELLING
Michael B. Welling entered the family triumphant after a long courageous battle with brain cancer. He shared a life in Maryville First Baptist Church and Fairview United Methodist Church, was employed with Pilot Travel Centers as Manager of Purchasing, and coached Soccer and Upward Basketball. He was a man of deep courage, faith and conviction. His contagious smile will be missed by many. Survivors include: wife, Kimberly Welling; son, Ryan Michael Welling; father, Boyd E. Welling of Clarksburg, WV; mother, Shirley J. Melloy of Lee's Summit, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Marci Welling of Clarksburg, WV; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Jim Slaton of Palm Bay, FL; sister, Kathy Jefferson of Palm Bay, FL; grandmother, Rose Marie Welling of Hallandale, FL; 4 nieces; 2 nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Fairview United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerry Russell, Rev. Bill Akers, Dr. John Sharp and Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Grandview cemetery for the interment service.
The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday at Fairview United Methodist Church.

Opalee Branton England Cunningham, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Oak View Baptist Church. She was born in Bryson City, NC and was the daughter of David Tildon and Ponee Hall Branton.
Preceded in death by: husband, Hubert England; son, Carl Adam England; parents, David Tildon and Ponee Hall Branton; step-mother, Edna Branton; brothers, George and wife Rowina Branton, Brownlow Branton, J.D. Branton, Carl Branton; sister and brother-in-law, Ethelene and Charles Stinnett.
Survivors include: loving husband, Clarence L. Cunningham; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Merita England of Maryville; grandson, Lance and wife Rhonda England of Powell; granddaughter, Monique and husband Ed Heustess of Johnson City; step-daughter, Barbara and husband Mayford Webb of Athens; step-granddaughter, Angie and husband Larry Tipton of Maryville; step-granddaughter, Greta and husband Chris King of Englewood; brothers, Cecil and wife Ruth Branton of Walland, Elmer and wife Sandra Branton of Knoxville, Jack and wife Sara Branton of Greer, SC. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Logan, Brandon, and Evan England of Powell, Brandon, Dwayne, and Jackie Tipton of Maryville, Christopher and Darin King of Englewood, Mason Heustess of Johnson City. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2003 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2003 at Oak View Baptist Church Cemetery. DONNA SUE HOPPER
Donna Sue Hopper, age 45 of White Pine, passed away Monday, September 22, 2003 at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. She was a member of Ballards Chapel Church. She was the manager of Captain D's in Morristown.
She is preceded in death by her father, Edgar Albright and husband, Tim Hopper.
Survivors are sons, Michael Albright and Timmy McKee; mother, Mary Sue Albright; granddaughter, Jade Albright; brothers, Larry Albright and Randy Albright; sisters-in-law, Linda Albright and Cindy Albright; niece, Melinda Albright; daughter-in-law, Tonya Dugger; aunt and uncles, Florence and William Pratt and John Horner; good friends, James Rickard and Inez Collins.
Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2003 in the Chapel at Mayes Mortuary with the Rev. Ralph Benfield and Rev. Ricky Sweet officiating. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Ballards Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. MARY EVELYN RUSSELL LANE
Mary Evelyn Russell Lane died Monday Sept 22, 2003, in Maryville, Tennessee. She had been recovering from surgery at Shannondale Health Center. A resident of Asbury Retirement Center, she was born in Louisville, Tennessee, December 14, 1912, and was the daughter of William Edgar Russell and Lida Gamble Russell.
She was preceded in death by husband, Henry George Lane; sisters, Beulah and Edna Smith; brothers, Robert and James.
Mary Evelyn was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. She was a graduate of Maryville College, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Alpha Delta Kappa professional teacher sorority and the Blount County Historical society. She taught school for 28 years and was a member and Chairman of the Blount County Board of Education. Among her ancestors were the Reverend Samuel Doak, pioneer Presbyterian East Tennessee church founder, Josias Gamble and several other Revolutionary Soldiers. A friend to all and a teacher of three generations at Union and Alnwick, she enjoyed her family, church, Blount County and her many friends and relatives.
She is survived by son, George Henry Lane of Knoxville; daughter, Louise Lane Talley and husband Donald Talley of Maryville; and brother, John Russell and wife Jean of Clearwater Florida. Also, sisters-in-law, Jane Russell of Troy Ohio, Nina Russell of Maryville; and brother-in-law, J. Hoge Smith of Virginia; five grandchildren, Catherine Lane Colocotronis and husband Andrew of Knoxville, Stacey Lane Kline and husband Michael of Penland, North Carolina, Jacklyn Lane of Knoxville, David Henry Talley of Maryville, Donna Talley Russell and husband Mark of Maryville. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Henry Turner Colocotronis and Edward Ashton Colocotronis of Knoxville, Evelyn Cadalise Kline of Penland, North Carolina, Landon Allen Russell, Talley Lane Russell and Garrett Lynn Russell of Maryville. She is also survived by first cousins, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will meet friends at New Providence Presbyterian Church in the main Sanctuary at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday the 24th with a Memorial Service at 8:00 p.m. A family burial service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Clover Hill Presbyterian Church. The Reverends Dr. Emily Anderson, Dr. Phillip Bembower and Steve Musick will conduct the service. Assisting in the graveside service will be the Reverend Tom Gilliland of Clover Hill Presbyterian Church.

RONNIE LYNN LIVELY
Ronnie Lynn Lively, age 49, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2003. He was a graduate of Everett High in 1973, and was a drummer in the Bulldog Band. He had received numerous awards in the practice of martial arts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie J. and Ella M. Lively.
His survivors are: son, Brandon, daughters, Ashley and Angelia; grandson, Dillon; brothers, Bobby and Bill; sister, Carolyn.
Mr. Lively was cremated and a family service was held at Lakeview cemetery in Lenoir City. Special thanks to his friends who contacted family members to extend condolences and offer assistance. Arrangements by Dotson Funeral Home, Wildwood. (865-984-5959)

Perry Lynn Roden, age 49 of Louisville, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include wife, Joy Roden; children, Angela Flynn, Billie Rhodes, Ginger Endsley, Jeremiah Cochran and Jedi Cochran all of Louisville; grandchildren, Chevy Emmert, Dillion Rhodes and Lexi Flynn; mother, Icia McAmis of Louisville; sisters, Diane Cable of Maryville and Cynthia Carver of Friendsville; niece, Emma Carver; nephews, Alex Carver and Chris Cable; best friends, Danny Thomas and Steve Robinson both of Maryville.

Donald E. Wilbanks, age 44, of Seymour, passed away Friday, September 19, 2003.
He is survived by wife, Chrystal, also of Seymour, two daughters, Christine and Patricia, both of New Orleans; also surviving: a brother, David (Lynn) Wilbanks of Baton Rouge, LA; and two sisters, Janice (John) Hickman of South Carolina and Jeanne Wilbanks of Virginia.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at Faith In The Word Church, 10650 Chapman Hwy, Seymour. Bonnie Carson Acuff, age 86, of Harvest, Ala., passed away Sunday, September 21, 2003.
Mrs. Acuff was a former resident of Maryville, TN. She was prededed in death by her husband, Roy W. Acuff.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Bridges and husband Bill of Harvest, Ala.; son Carson Acuff and wife Carolyn of Maryville; two grandchildren, Angela Trout and Michael Acuff of Maryville; three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Ryan and Megan Trout; sister, Eva Holbert of Knoxville.

Rozella Boring Law, age 74, of Maryville, passed away September 20th, 2003, at Blount Memorial Hospital. A member of Highland Presbyterian Church. preceded in death by Husband, Charles G. Law, Parents, Willie and Lona Boring. Grandsons, James H. Hannah Jr. Charles Spencer Simcox, Several Brothers and Sisters. GIBSON, ELLA M., 95 of Seymour died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Survivors include daughters, Ada Pryor, Joyce Gibson and Shirley Gibson all of Seymour; one grandson; one step-grandson; four great-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 6-8 p.m. at the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary. Graveside funeral service and interment will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Smith Mortuary, Maryville, is in charge.
SMITH, JAMES ALFRED, 52, Maryville, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Blount Memorial Hospital.
