LOULA ZELL MCKAY RAY
Mrs. Loula Zell McKay Ray, 75, a retired librarian, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 20 East, with her husband of 52 years. Dr. Ovin Caston Ray.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Northside Baptist Church in Clinton, Miss. Entombment will follow in Trinity Mausoleum at Parkway Memorial cemetery in Ridgeland, Miss. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street and will resume Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the chuch.
Mrs. Ray was born June 19, 1928, the daughter of Robert Samuel McKay and Amanda Eaves McKay on a farm in Ellison Ridge Community of Winston County, Miss. Typical of anyone growing up on a farm in the 30s and 40s in Mississippi, she did the usual chores of helping with garden, house, flower yard, cotton and corn crops.
Besides her work at home, Loula Zell's life centered around school and Ellison Ridge Baptist Church, both major influences on her future.
Admiring leaders there, she aspired to go to college to get her master's degree, to become an English teacher, and do church work. After graduating as valedictorian from Ellison Ridge High School, she attended Clarke Memorial College and graduated with honors. While at Clarke College, she was in the chorus, drama productions, the yearbook and newspaper staffs, as well as working in various departments on campus.
She continued her education, graduating from Mississippi College, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English and minors in Bible and education in 1949, Mississippi State University, earning a Master of Arts, with a major in education and a minor in English. Mrs. Ray also completed additional studies at the University of Mississippi and Memphis State University.
Loula Zell accepted a position at Noxapater, serving as a high school English teacher, grades 10-12, a part-time librarian and directing the newspaper and yearbook staffs. While at Noxapater, she met her husband, Ovin Caston Ray, and they married June 10, 1951, and moved to north Mississippi.
She accepted a position at Arkabutla High School teaching English, grades 7-12, serving as a senior advisor for the annual department, serving as chorus director and yearbook advisor. After moving to Hernando, Miss., Mrs. Ray served as a full-time librarian at Clinton High School In 1967, the Ray family moved to Clinton, Miss., where she served as head librarian at Clinton High School. While at Clinton, she was chosen president of the Mississippi Association of School Librarians, a division of the Mississippi Education Association. Her responsibilities included planning the program for the annual spring meeting.
Mrs. Ray was active in the Baptist church, serving as summer vacation Bible School worker for the Mississippi Baptist Sunday School Board while she was a college student, serving as president of the Hernando Woman's Missionary Unit, conducting and speaking at various local and district meetings. Mrs. Ray also served as temporary choir director at Arkabutla Baptist Church and as a substitute director at Hernando Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School at Arkabutla, Hernando and Morrison Heights in Clinton. She was currently a member of Northside Baptist Church. After retirement, Loula Zell began research on the family genealogy and it became her main interest.
Survivors include: a daughter, Gloria Ray Crittenden and her husband, John, formerly of McComb, both of Maryville, Tn.; grandchildren Kelsey Ray Crittenden and Logan Crittenden; brothers, Bobby McKay of Louisville, Miss., Richard McKay of Preston, Miss.; and a half-sister, Gladys Carr Sullivan of Louisville, Miss.

ERNEST `ERNIE' RIGGS
Ernest 'Ernie' Riggs, 79, of Maryville died Saturday evening, Sept. 27, 2003, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Kay Riggs; parents, Joe and Lassie Rutherford Riggs; sisters, Clella Garland and Gertie Bunch.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Chambers Riggs of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Archie and Judy Riggs; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Jo and James Burkhart; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, all of Georgia, also many special friends will miss him.
Family and friends will meet at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dotson Memorial cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Milford Byrd officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville until 5:00 p.m. Monday and until 3 p.m. Tuesday.

LINDA GALE CARDIN SWABE
Linda Gale Cardin Swabe, age 60, of 2045 Meek St., Madisonville, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Blount Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Tevis Springs Baptist Church, where she served as the church pianist for 35 years, also served as church treasurer, W.M.U. director, Sunday School teacher and director of the Bible School for many years. Formerly employed by ALCOA Aluminum Company of America.
Survivors: husband of 39 years, John L. Swabe; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Yvonne Swabe, Jim and Tracy Swabe; grandchildren, Abigail, Carly, Kelly and Savanna Swabe; parents, Hubert and Eva Cardin; sisters, Karen Mason, Marilyn Moses, several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Mary Kate Green, all of Madisonville, Glenda West, Maryville.
Funeral 11:00 a.m. Monday, Tevis Springs Baptist Church, Rev. Joe Torbett, Rev. Dennis Atkins officiating. Interment in Hopewell Springs Cemetery. Family received friends from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Bierley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.

WILLIAM FLETCHER `SMILEY' WALLACE
William Fletcher 'Smiley' Wallace, age 83, of Maryville passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II, retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25-Year Club and preceded in death by his parents, Thophalus and Nannie Wallace and adopted parents, Mal and Pashie Hall.
Survivors include his cousins, Lorene Cooper and Patricia Hall, both of Maryville; and several other family members and friends.
Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Scott Campbell officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill cemetery for the interment service. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

WILLIAM B. BOHNE
William B. Bohne, age 38 of Maryville, died suddenly Thursday, September 25, 2003 at his home. He was born in San Pedro, CA. preceded in death by: Brother, Howard H. Bohne, III. Survivors include: Wife of 7 years, Shirley Ann (Wilhite) Bohne; Son, Michael Bohne of San Diego, CA; Daughters, Kristina Nicole Bohne of Birmingham, AL; Mary Angeline Sandlin of Maryville, TN; Father, Howard H.J. Bohne of Charleston, SC; Sister, Elizabeth Ann (Bohne) Picard of Rotterdam, NY; Brother, Scott H. Bohne of San Diego, CA; Nephews, Timothy, Patrick, and Jonathan; Nieces, Sarah and Margaret Picard. Family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Smith Mortuary. MARY M. BOLING
Mary M. Boling, age 75 of Rockford passed away Friday morning September 26, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. preceded in death by Mother, Odie Brock Boling; Father, William Harrison Boling; Brother, Tommy Joe Boling; Sister, Edith Raymer.
Survivors: Daughter, Belinda Yates of Rockford; Son & Daughter-in-law, William and Patricia Boling of Rockford; Grandchildren, Ashlee Gallaher, William Boling, Jr.; Great-grandchildren, Cody Boling, Tyler Boling, Haydn Boling, Zachary Boling, Chloe Boling, soon to be great-grandson, Kameron Brandon Steele; Sister, Mamie Ruhnke of California; Brothers, Sam Boling of Rockford, Gene Boling of Maryville; several nieces and nephews and to all the wonderful friends at K.A.C.C.D. in Knoxville for all the love and support of our dear loved one.

LOIS INEZ HUNT
Lois Inez Hunt, age 90 of Maryville, passed away Friday, September 26, 2003, at her home. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt and Dera Gregg; four brothers and one sister; husband, William Theodore Hunt; two sons, Fred Rudolph and William "Bill" R. Hunt; one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter. Survivors include: sons, Jim R. Hunt and wife Bobbie of Alcoa and David R. Hunt of Maryville; daughters, Alice Fay Wray and husband Doug of Piedmont, SC, Teresa Starkey and husband J. R. of Sevierville and Jeannie Ray and husband Ed of Ooltewah, TN; daughters-in-law, Norma Hunt Miller of Maryville and Jane Hunt of Natrona Heights, PA; one sister, Lorene Turner of Cullman, AL; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a graveside service with Rev. Paul Longmire officiating. VIRGINIA S. JEFFRIES
Virginia S. Jeffries, 61, Tallahassee, FL, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003, in Tallahassee, FL. She was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by husband of 28 years, Jack Y. Jeffries of Tallahassee; four sons, Tim Jeffries (and wife, Lisa) and Phil Jeffries (and wife Jeanine) both of Palm Bay, FL, Jay Vaughn (and wife Larissa) of Tallahassee and Steve Vaughn (and wife Sherry) of Tampa; two daughters, Michelle Keene (and husband Bill) of Knoxville and Regina Hagin (and husband Kirk) of Snead; her mother, Reba Hankins of Lutz, FL; a brother, Carl Hankins (and wife Pansy) of Land O'Lakes, FL; two sisters, Betty Blankenbeckler (and husband Jimmy) of Knoxville and Cindy Weery (and husband Bobby) of Land O'Lakes, FL; and ten grandchildren.
The service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home Timberline Road Chapel, Tallahassee, FL, with burial at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park, Tallahassee, FL. Family will receive friends 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel, Tallahassee.

MORRIS KENNETH `KEN' LEDFORD
Morris Kenneth (Ken) Ledford, age 76 formerly of Maryville, passed away September 25, 2003 in Gulf Breeze, FL due to heart failure. Mr. Ledford was retired from the U.S. Air Force, a member of the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge, and VFW Lode 5156 of Maryville, TN. He was born in Unaka, NC on November 13, 1926 to the late George & Jamimia Ledford. preceded in death by: Brothers, Tom, Bynum, and Glen Ledford; Sisters, Allie Masingale, Florence Garret, Lucile McKinney, and Irene Ervin. Survivors include: Wife, Patsy Carol Woodby Ledford; Sons and Daughters-in-law, Jimmy & Susan Ledford of Tallahassee, FL, Dale & Susan Ledford of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Son, Kenneth Ray Ledford; Daughter, Leslie Munson both of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Grandchildren, Justin Ledford, Travis Munson, Brian Tucker, Sabrina Tucker, Hannah Ledford and Rachel Ledford; Sister, Mary Leroy of Dalton, GA; Brother-in-law and wife, Bill & Lynn Woodby of Alcoa, TN; several very special nephews and nieces. Virginia Pauline Reagan, age 63 of Maryville passes away Thursday afternoon, September 25, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Survivors: Son & Daughter-in-law, Richard & Linda Reagan of Maryville; Son, Randy Reagan of Rockford; Daughter & Son-in-law, Robin & Tim Franklin of Walland; Grandchildren, David Hatfield & wife, Nicole, Bobby Hatfield, Lindsey Reagan, McKenzie Reagan, Elizabeth Reagan, Andrew Reagan, Phillip Reagan; Great-grandchild, Harley David Hatfield; Former Husband, J.R. MARGIE MAE WEBB
Margie Mae Webb, age 85 of Townsend passed away Thursday morning, September 25, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Preceded in death by husband, Joe Levi Webb; son, Sammy Webb; daughter, Dianne Webb; grandson, Danny Lee Ownby; great-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hembree, Olivia Hembree; sister, Velma Carpenter; half-brothers, John Huskey, Bruce Huskey, R. L. Green, Wesley Green.
SURVIVORS: sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Juanita Webb, David and Judy Webb, Daniel Webb, Charles Webb all of Townsend; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Sue and Audley Ownby of Sevierville, Bernice and Henry Garland, Barbara Jean and John Farmer all of Townsend, Lucille Hatcher of Sevierville, Lillie McNeilly of Walland, Zennie Webb Hannah of Townsend; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren from five generations; special friend, Fayda Word of Townsend; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2003 Friendly Hill Baptist Church, Rev. Harrison Hill, Rev. Carl Arp, Rev. Robert Riden officiating. Interment to follow in Bethel cemetery in Townsend. The body will lie in state at the church 1 hr. prior to the service. The body will be at the family home after 3:00 p.m. Friday where friends may call at their convenience. All floral arrangements are to be delivered to the family home, 550 Lovers Lane Rd, Townsend. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
