MARY HAZEL JENNINGS
Mary Hazel Jennings, age 86, of Walland, and a descendent of Cades Cove, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Jennings; son, George Lamb; daughter, Mary Butler; sisters, Moda Shepherd and Imogene Payne; son-in-law, Jim Hightower.
Hazel was a loving housewife, mother of eight, and took in some children along the way. She served as Secretary and Treasurer of Rocky Branch Church of God for over 30 years. She was a founder, and the oldest charter member left in the church. Hazel and her late husband, Fred, served 20 years on WGAP Radio Ministry and worked with several outreach ministries. She wrote a book, Homesteads of the Great Smoky Mountains. She was born in Cades Cove, and with a 7th-grade education, wrote several poems and songs, and was an artist. In a unique coincidence, she had a tattoo on her arm with a shamrock and the date of 3/7/33. She passed away on 3/7/03.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, the Rev. Jewell and Kenneth McCollum of Maryville, Debbie and Roy Nuchols of Walland; daughter, Barbara Christine Hightower of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Robert and Mary Jennings; sons, Van and John Jennings, all of Walland; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Verda Payne; brother, Verlis Payne, both of Rockwood; sister, Gaynell Duncan of San Diego, CA.
Funeral service will be 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2003 in the Dotson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gertrude Osborne officiating. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. CAROLYN M. SPIRES
Carolyn M. Spires, age 57 of Alcoa, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2003 at Fort Sanders Hospital, Loudon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Mary Sipe; grandparents, Ben and Nina Kinser. Survivors include her husband of thirty-one years, Gene Spires; son and daughter-in-law, Grant and Chastidy Spires; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dustin Payne; grandchild, Issac Payne; brother, Bruce Sipe of Alcoa, and Sister, Kay Arnold of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla;. sister and brother-in-law, Charolette and Harold Wolfe; brother and sister-in-law Dowell and Lavonne Spires; aunt, Nina Everett of Hickory N.C. Special Friend and Cousin; Judy LeQuire; Nephews, Brian Sipe, and Tim Spires; Nieces, Lauren Sipe, Sabrina Diggs, Nicole, Natalie, and Nia Arnold. Family and Friends will assemble at 10 A.M. ROGER W. SWANSON
Roger W. Swanson, age 56 of Maryville, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a US Army Veteran and was employed by Smith Mortuary as a family service counselor. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emily A. Swanson. Survivors include his wife, Linda Swanson; son, David Swanson of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Melinda Krass of Walkerton, Indiana; grandchildren, Noah Swanson and Aidan and Elliot Krass; father, Roy E. Swanson of Argos, Indiana; sisters, Lynette Kross and Felicia Batman both of Indiana; brother, Col. Michael Matz of Crown Point, Indiana. Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Monday, March 10, 2003 at the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. NOAH A. WILKERSON
Noah A. Wilkerson, age 90 of Maryville, passed away Friday, March 7, 2003, at home. He was a member of Carpenters United Methodist Church for 38 years, was a former employee of ADT, partner owner/operator of Bearden AMOCO, and then spent the remainder of his years as a farmer in Blount County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. M. and Ida Belle Wilkerson; wife, Helen Badgett Wilkerson; sisters, Clarice Baker, Mildred Leek, Oleta Steel and Zylphia Cogdill.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, John and beloved care-giver, Linda Wilkerson of Knoxville, Ray and Sara Wilkerson of Dodge City, KS, Perry and Sheila Wilkerson of Waynesville, NC; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Al Gibson, Linda and Bobby Arden all of Knoxville; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Wilkerson.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Tucker officiating. The interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Carpenters Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. NANNIE MILDRED RANDLES BROWN
Nannie Mildred Randles Brown, age 83, of Maryville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Member of Immanuel Baptist Church. preceded in death by husbands Robert E. Randles and Ernest Brown, son George A. Randles.
Survived by daughters Audrey Jean Allison, Pamela Kay Smith and Cora Gail Kelley, stepdaughters Edna Lou Schaefer and Grace Moorefield, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Family and friends will meet 10 AM Monday at Henry Crossroads Cemetery, Kodak for a Graveside Service with Dr. George Hollander officiating. Family will receive friends 2-4 PM Sunday at Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Chapman Hwy.
JAMES HARVEY `KUZ' NOE
James Harvey "Kuz" Noe - age 47 of Maryville passed away Thursday, March 6, 2003 at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Jean Noe; grandparents, Bill and Ida Dell Noe.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Ginger" Noe; father and wife, Charles and Jeri Noe; children, Marie Nicole, Shawn, Jeremiah, and Drew; brothers and wives, William Jr. and Donna, Carroll "Hook" and Lori; stepbrother and wife, Gary and Karen; stepsister and husband, Patty and Mike; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Haynes officiating. The interment will follow in Ellejoy Cemetery.

BARBARA L. STITES
Barbara L. Stites - age 74 of Vonore, passed away Friday, March 7, 2003 at her home. She was retired from the United States Postal Service as a Route Carrier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon W. Stites who died in 1996.
Survivors include her daughters, Christina M. Kendrick, of Vonore, Elaine Wells, of Bluffton, Indiana; son, Randolph W. Stites, of Alma, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Mary J. Petherbridge, of Goodrich, Michigan.

HELEN M. TEFFETELLER
Helen M. Teffeteller, age 75 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Asbury Place at Maryville. She was a member of Madison Ave. Baptist Church and preceded in death by parents, Alexander and Bessie Dockery, sisters, Diane England, Martha Faye Willocks, Anna Mae Dockery and Thelma Dunlap.
She will be greatly missed by her devoted family including daughters and son-in-law, Wanda and Ronnie McDonald of Rockford and JoAnn Holland of Ohio; grandchildren, Danny Dawson, Sarah Shepard, Kelly Overholt, Tonya Dial, Tabitha Breeden Michael Breeden and Tiffany Martin; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Dawson, Haylee Dawson, Abigail Shepard, Seth Overholt, Taylor Overholt, Hannah Breeden, Halie Breeden, Darion Breeden, Jade Breeden and Devon Breeden; brothers, Charlie Dockery and Jimmy Dockery both of Maryville; sisters, Margaret Dockery of Maryville, Mable Dockery of Maryville and Dorothy James of Georgia; special friends, Betty Wilson and Janice Martin both of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.

SIDNEY `SID' V. VORIS
Sidney V. Voris (Sid) was born in Sandusky, Ohio in 1930 to Maxwell and Vivian Voris who have preceded him in death. His brother, Rodney, also preceded him in death. He was a member and elder at Brookwood Presbyterian Church in Ohio and was presently a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church here in Maryville. He was employed by F.A. Kohler and APCO Industries in Columbus, Ohio. He retired to Maryville and was briefly employed part time by Anderson Lumber Company. He played the clarinet in one band or another, both here in Tennessee and in Ohio. He had a great interest in airplanes: Models, Radio Control, Ultralights and all other planes. He was a member of the Swiss Club Chorus in Columbus, Ohio and a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church choir.
Survivors are his wife, Marilyn Wilkinson Voris, of over fifty-one years; two daughters and their husbands: Laurie and Steve Kelley in St. Louis, Missouri and Mollie and Roger Rupp of Soddy Daisy. There are four grandchildren: Elizabeth Kelley, Jennifer Kelley, Margaret Rupp and Max Rupp.
Following cremation, Memorial Services will be held at New Providence Presbyterian Church at 3 pm Sunday, March 9. The family will greet visitors in the sanctuary following services. GEORGE WASHINGTON WALKER
George Washington Walker, age 79, of Rockford, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He attended Porter High School and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Retired from General Motors, Fisher Body of Willow Springs, Illinois with 28 years of service. Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Preceded in death by parents, Barney and Fannie Mae Walker; several brothers and sisters.
Survived by beloved wife of 48 years, Patsy Sue Thompson Walker; sons, Michael Walker, Alan Walker, and Warren Walker; daughters, Tammie Walker and Anna Williams; grandchildren, Travis and Taylor Williams; brothers, Ira (Wendy), Calvin, Charlie, and Buck Walker; many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Funeral service will be held 8 p.m. on Saturday, Berry Chapel, with Rev. George Ott, Jr. officiating. Family and friends will meet at Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery for graveside services at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Full military honors will be provided by Volunteer State Honor Guard. Arminda Kirby Adams, age 96 of Walland passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Maryville Healthcare Center. She was a member of Old Chilhowee Baptist Church, Seymour.
Preceded in death by: husband, Rev. Alex Adams; daughter-in-law, Dellavee Adams.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Arvil Adams, Rev. Ruby H. Atkins, age 76 of Maryville died Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Smoky Mountain Church of Christ and retired from Levi Strauss with 15 years of service. preceded in death by: husband, Claude J. Atkins; infant daughter, Ruby Delores Atkins; father, Monroe Bowers; brothers, John and James Bowers; sister, Irene Boring. Survivors include: sons, Gary Atkins and Allen Atkins both of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Thomas Harmon of Knoxville; grandchildren, Erik Harmon and Michael Harmon both of Knoxville, Abigail and Joseph Atkins of Minnesota, and Gabriel Atkins of Alcoa; mother, Nola Bowers of Maryville; sisters, Veleda Jones and Mary Evelyn Lambert both of Maryville; several nieces and nephews; her beloved cats, Tanya and Princess.
