Stella Ruth Large, age 78 of Sevierville, died Monday, January 13, 2003. She was a member of Millican Grove Baptist Church and the D.A.V. Women's Auxiliary. Mrs. Large owned and operated Ruth's Hair Fashions for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Large; brother, Albert Parrott; and sister, Dorothy Jean Shults.
Survivors: sisters, June Fern Vann of Virginia, Wilma Helen Walker of Michigan, Roberta Rayfield of Michigan; stepbrothers, Junior Beason of Mississippi, David Beason of Sevierville; stepsister, Barbara Flynn of Sevierville; nieces, Judy Hawkins, Gladys Brittle, Linda Hodges, Ann Niolet; nephews, Billy and Jack Rayfield, David Beason, Jr., Keith and Joe Beason, Charles, Stanley, David and Michael Shults, Jimmy Parrotte, Olan and Ira Romines.
Funeral service 7 p.m. Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Interment 11 a.m. Thursday in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

MARY COLEEN ROGERS
Mary Coleen Rogers, age 52 of Knoxville passed away Tuesday morning, January 14, 2003 at the family home. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors: husband, Paul B. Rogers; daughter, Cindy Wilson of Knoxville; son, Wayne Coker of Knoxville; grandchildren, Ethan Wilson, Blake Coker, Cameron Coker; parents, James and JoAnn Scruggs Zirkle of New Market; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Petty of Kodak; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Becky Zirkle of Knoxville; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Timothy and April Rogers of Maryville; stepgrandchildren, Zeke Rogers, Faith Rogers; several cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2003 for Cryptside service and Entombment, Chaplain, Clay Mulford officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

KINCAID, ANNA R., 70, Maryville, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2002 at the family home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

SIPE, LOTUS, 92, Maryville, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

ANGIE L. HICKS
Angie L. Hicks, 92, of Maryville died Monday morning January 13, 2003, at Maryville Health Care. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hicks; son, Willie Thomas Hicks; stepsons, Herman and Roy Hicks; stepdaughter, Helen Webb.
She is survived by her: daughter and son-in-law, Willard and Mary Collins; daughter, Wanda Smalley; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mildred Hicks all of Maryville; twenty grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville with Rev. Phillip Marshal and Rev. John Henry officiating. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to proceed to Chilhowee View cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home.

GUY G. SPARKS
Guy G. Sparks, age 74 of Maryville passed away Sunday, January 12, 2003, at 11:15 a.m. at the family home. Guy was born in Cades Cove, October 30, 1928. Resident of Maryville for 74 years. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company and the U.S. Army. Member of Six Mile Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by parents, Nathan and Nora Sparks; infant son, Michael; sister, Inez Simerly; and brother, Harley Sparks. Survivors, wife, Bernice Sparks; son, David Guy Sparks; daughters, Judy Hutsell and Karen Jakubowski all of Maryville; grandchildren, Monica Brown and Josh Jakubowski both of Maryville; great-grandchildren, Ashely Gaston and Kody Brown; sisters, Pearl Harmon and Patrica Powell of Maryville; brothers, Kie, Mack, Charles and Don Sparks all of Maryville; good friends Polly and Buddy Boswell.
Funeral service at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Bill White officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at Forest Hill cemetery for the interment service. Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

JIM FLOYD WHITEHEAD, JR.
Jim Floyd Whitehead Jr., age 30 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2003, at the family home. He was a member of Bright Hope Tabernacle and preceded in death by grandparents, James and Ann Russell, Flavous Whitehead and Easter Lawson.
Survivors include mother, Shirley Russell of Maryville; father, Jim Floyd Whitehead Sr. of Maryville; sister, Melissa Rose of Maryville; twin sister, Janie Brown of Dandridge; nieces, Julie Rose, Jessica and Jennifer Brown; nephews, Jay and Justin Rose and Seth Perry; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. John F. Davis officiating. Interment 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Old Piney Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miller Funeral Home, to assist the family with funeral expenses. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

JOHN R. COMPTON
John R. Compton, age 97, of Walland, died Sunday, January 12, 2003 at Fairpark Healthcare Facility. He was retired from Rebel Rail Road Co. with 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary with Rev. Horace Brown officiating. Family and friends will assemble on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Grandview cemetery for interment. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary Inc..

HAROLD DEAN GILLILAND
Harold Dean Gilliland, age 70, born in Benton, Polk County, Tennessee, on October 24, 1932, to the late Foy and Ruby Gilliland, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2003 at 9:40 a.m. after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Gilliland graduated from Everett High School in Maryville, Tennessee, and earned an Associate of Art Degree in Religious Education from Florida Christian College in Tampa, Florida. In 1982 Mr. Gilliland was co-founder of the New Life Foundation in Burns, Tennessee, a not-for-profit corporation with a strong commitment to helping sick and suffering alcoholics and their families recover from this dreadful malady. He was also a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Laux Gilliland; three children, Foy Dean (Cindy M. Lee) Gilliland of Dickson, Tennessee, Anita Jeanene (Thomas D.) Broadbent of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Ruthie Ann (James W. III) Perkins of Burns, Tennessee; six grandchildren, April Michelle (Christopher) Spain, Holly Amber Perkins, Jeremy Daniel Perkins, Chelsea Leigh Daniel, Seth Early Gilliland, and Grace Bailey Gilliland; two sisters, Barbara Wilson of Orlando, Florida, and Elaine (Gordon) Teffeteller of Valdosta, Georgia; two aunts, Reathel McCready of Antioch, Tennessee, and Margie Gilliland of Benton, Tennessee; one uncle, Kesner 'Chet' Gilliland, of Benton Tennessee; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Funeral services for Mr. Gilliland will be held at 10:30 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time for funeral, Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at the Taylor Funeral Home, 214 N. Main Street, Dickson, Tennessee. Dr. Gordon L. Teffeteller of Valdosta, Georgia, will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be at the funeral home on Monday, January 13, 2003 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment and grave-side service will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at 12:00 noon, with visitation 10:00 a.m. until time for the funeral at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 3176 Alcoa Highway, Alcoa, Tennessee. The family, at Mr. Gilliland's request, has asked that in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution be made to New Life Foundation, P.O. Box 159, Burns, Tennessee 37029. KENNETH WALKER KILE
Kenneth Walker Kile, 70 of Maryville died Saturday, January 11, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a Veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his wife of 50 Years, Deeann Cottrell Kile; children, Carol Tellier, Marieda Dudash, Gregory Kile; nine grandchildren; six sisters; two brothers.
All friends and relatives are invited to a viewing at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 706 Amerine Rd. from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2003. A Funeral service will follow until 12:00 noon. The family and friends will meet at Chestua cemetery in Madisonville for a 4:00 p.m. Graveside Service conducted by Col. Bob Mise and the Tennessee State Volunteer Honor Guard. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Parkinson Foundation.

JERRY EVERETT PAIGE
Jerry Everett Paige, 59 of Maryville died Saturday morning at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carper and Reba Fox Paige; brothers, Dale Fox and Doug (Buck) Paige.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Evelyn Carpenter Paige; children, Jeremy Scott Paige of Loudon, Randall Lee and (Rachael) Paige, Bradley Austin Paige; grandchildren, Daniel Timothy Paige, Brandon Lee Paige, Kaylan Nichole Paige, Michael Jeremiah Paige; sister, Ruby Maxine Butcher all of Maryville.
Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.p. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville with Rev. Rick Smelser officiating, the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Maryville Baptist Tabernacle cemetery for a graveside service.

NAOMI B. CARTER SHEETS
Naomi B. Carter Sheets, age 80 of Maryville passed away Sunday morning, January 12, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She attended Unitia Free Holiness Church.
Preceded in death by husband, Boyd Frank Sheets; parents, Austin F. and Lula J. Spencer Carter; brothers, James R. Carter, Tom B. Carter.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Glen Hodge of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Charles F. and Frieda Sheets of Louisville; grandchildren, Christina Murrell, Michael and wife, Debbie Sheets, Joseph Sheets, Virginia and husband, Tony Cooper, Carisa Phillips; great-grandchildren, Jacob Murrell, Ciara Sheets, Laura Sheets, Megan Cooper; brother, Wayne Carter and wife Katherine of Manchester, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2003 Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Dewey Morton officiating. Family and friends will meet at Grandview cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

ROBERT `BOB' H. SING, SR.
Robert (Bob) H. Sing, Sr., age 65, of Buford, Georgia died Saturday, January 11, 2003.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at Bill Head Funeral Home in Duluth, Georgia.
Bob is survived by his wife Jewel; his son Buddy; his daughters, Blenda, Robin and Sherry; his sons-in-law, Mark and Brian; his daughter-in-law, Janet; and his adored grandchildren, Rebecca, Adam, Norris, Griffen and Dalton.
Bob was a 21 year veteran of the U.S. Army. He served 2 tours in Vietnam as a Green Beret. Subsequently, he was successful as a sales manager, the last company being Southern Fastening Systems. Bob loved traveling, golf, antiques, and nature, especially eagles. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a scholarship fund for the children of Southern Fastening Systems, in memory of Bob Sing. Contributions should be sent to:

HENRY J. LACH
Henry J. Lach, age 81 of Maryville, TN, formerly of Columbia Heights, MN, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. He attended Faith Lutheran Church in Knoxville. He served in the U. S. Cavalry in China during WWII. He retired after 30 years of Blacksmithing for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad. preceded in death by parents; son, Michael J. Lach; several brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Bob Lambert; daughter, Teresa Clanton; son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Karen Lach; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Stella Hudak and Judy Edel.
Family and friends will assemble for Graveside service and Interment at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at The Tennessee Veterans cemetery in Knoxville with Pastor Bob Stelter officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Volunteer State Honor Guard, 8030 Dodson Road, Knoxville, TN 37920, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.
