Patsy Nelson Luster
Patsy Nelson Luster, 69, went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 14, 2002 at Saint Mary Holston Health Care. Mrs. Luster was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City, TX. She attended Beech Grove Baptist Church in Louisville, Tenn. and dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She retired from G & T Industries on March 31, 1998 after 10 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan M. Nelson and Nora Starnes Lane; her husband, Rev. Charles Elmer Luster; and her grandparents, Ezra and Nannie Starnes. Surviving are daughters, Kathy Ketron and husband Bill of Kingsport, Nancy Luster of Knoxville; son, Howard Luster and wife Theresa of Texas City, Texas; grandchildren, David Ketron, Andrea Pondant, Amy Joyner, Jan Luster, Sherry Simmons, and Jennifer Jackson; great grandchildren, Anthony Pondant and Lane Simmons; sister, Kaye Medlin of Kingsport; and her lifelong friend, Henrietta Kendrick; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Saturday, November 16, 2002 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 7 p.m. with Rev. David Luster and Rev. Joe W. Byrd officiating. Graveside services will be Sunday, November 17, 2002 at 2 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Gary Medlin, Danny Medlin, Kevin Hite, Jason Hite, Brandon Krantz and Andy Wolfe.
Memorials may be made to the Fibrosis Foundation or the American Lung Association of TN, 1808 West End Ave., Suite 514, Nashville, TN 37203.

Kathleen Hope Morton
Kathleen Hope Morton, age 91 of Maryville, passed away Thursday evening, November, 14, 2002 at Asbury Place Health Care Center.
She was a member of Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church and preceded in death by husband, Fred B. Morton, daughter, Betty Jo Duncan and several brothers and sisters. Survivors, grandsons and wives, Robert "Bob" and Becky Duncan of Maryville, Steve and Mary Duncan of Greenback; great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hannah Duncan, Josh and Amber Duncan; son in law, Herbert Duncan of Maryville; sisters, Grayce Metsopulos of New Jersey and Ruth Whitehead of Pennsylvania; brothers, Charles Avery Ridings of Walland and Alex Ridings of Kingston; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Logan's Chapel cemetery for graveside service and interment, Rev. Rick Sweet officiating. Friends may call at their convenience from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

Eddie J. Reneau
Eddie J. Reneau, 43, of Horse Shoe, NC died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002 in Pardee Hospital. He was born in Maryville, Tenn, a son of Hobert Reneau of Cherokee and the late Virginia Lambert Reneau. He had lived in Henderson County for the past 17 years. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and Mars Hill College. He was an assistant football coach at East Henderson High School before spending nine years coaching at Pisgah High School, the last five years as head coach. He spent the past four years as head football coach at East Henderson High School. He was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, and a leader of the East Henderson Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Surviving, in addition to his father, are his wife, Audrey L. Reneau; a son, Stephen Christopher Reneau of the home; a daughter, Virginia Lauren Reneau of the home; a sister, Robin Jenkins and her husband, Tommy, of Franklin; a brother, Tim Reneau of Columbia, SC; two nephews, Thomas Jenkins and Nicholas Reneau; and his stepmother, Reva Reneau of Cherokee.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Biltmore Baptist Church. The Rev. James I. Walker, Travis Nolan, Danny Miller and David Pressley will officiate. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.

Grace Tarwater Webb
Grace Tarwater Webb, age 92, passed away peacefully at Asbury Place in Maryville, TN early Friday morning, November 15, 2002. She was born in Sevierville, TN., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Tarwater. She attended Murphy College in Sevierville and was married to William Marion Webb of Wears Valley. After farming in Sevier County for several years, they moved to Blount County, where Marion Webb worked at ALCOA. They lived in the Lanier area and were very active at Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was the pianist. After her husband's death, Mrs. Webb moved to Maryville.
Children are, Jean Webb McFarland of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bill Webb (William Marion Webb Jr.) of Black Mountain, N.C., Linda W. Downing and her husband, David Downing of Friday Harbor, WA; Peggy W. Ford of Robbinsville, North Carolina, Joanne W. Buchanan of Orlando, Florida, Sandra W. Goodman and her husband, Dale Goodman of Jonesboro, Georgia, June W. Goddard and her husband, Andy Goddard of Maryville, TN, Margie W. Van Buren of Orlando, Florida. 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Sisters, Mrs. June Crumley of Alcoa and Mrs. Lorraine Hickman of Knoxville. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Steve Tuck officiating. Interment to follow at Williamson Chapel Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

EVANS, DANIEL EDWARD, 46, Maryville, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002 at the family home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

SNIDER, MICHAEL DEWAYNE, 42, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 8, at the family home.
Survivors: wife, Christy Rose; children, Jennifer Campbell of Bolivar, Mo., and Michael Chad Snider of Panama City Beach, Fla.; sisters, Kathy Shoemate of Townsend and Melissa Whitson of Maryville.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Centenary Baptist Church, 1164 Centenary Road, Maryville.

VICKY JO JONES NORTON
Vicky Jo Jones Norton, age 49 of Madisonville passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at her home after a long illness. Vicky was an employee of Sonic Drive-in in Loudon. She was preceded in death by son, James Griffith; sister, Robin Jones; grandmothers, Irene Wolfe and Ruth Hyde; grandfather, James Jones.
Survived by husband, Harley Dale Norton; daughter, Dawn Pope of Lenoir City; son, Jeermy Griffith of Maynardville; grand-daughters, Taylor McKenzie and Madison Pope of Lenoir City; parents, Charles and Betty Jones of Lenoir City; brothers, Charles Jones of Waxhaw, N.C., Shawn Jones of Tampa, FL, and Brad Jones of Maryville; sisters, Ruth Beatty of Charlotte, N.C., Brenda Brissette of Wingate, N.C., Bonnie Jenkins of Lenoir City; brother-in-law, Dean Norton and wife, Cindy of Madisonville; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at their convenience Thursday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. Friday in the Shady Grove cemetery in Friendsville with Rev. Mike and Charlotte Price officiating. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is serving the family of Vicky Jo Norton.

EVERETT NEWMAN SMITH
Col. Everett Newman Smith, age 88 of Louisville, KY, formerly of Maryville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 9, 2002, in Louisville. He was born on August 4, 1914 in Maryville, TN, and was a graduate of Maryville College. Mr. Newman joined the National Guard in the 191st Field Artillery, was activated during World War II and served under Patton in the 355th Field Artillery Battalion, part of the 76th Division. In both units he was the commander, rising to rank of Colonel in the regular Army. During his career, Newman became head of the ROTC unit at Eastern Kentucky University and was honored to have a Pershing Rifle Unit named for him. After retiring from the Army in 1968, he returned to Maryville, where he was employed by the Maryville School System as a Science Teacher at Maryville Middle School. He married Evangeline Walker in June, 1940 and they were married for 56 years. After his wife's death in 1996, he moved to Louisville, where he lived until his death.
Survivors include: sister, Barbara Spears; children, Evangeline Smith and Everett Newman Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Lisa B. Kiser, Keith C. Smith, Rene' S. Workman and James N. Smith; 6 great-grandchildren and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with Rev. Martha Sterne officiating. The interment will follow in Magnolia cemetery with full military honors provided by the 101st Airborne Division from Ft. Campbell, KY. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Friday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that expressions of sympathy be made to either The American Heart Association, KY Region, 333 Guthrie Street, Suite 207, Louisville, KY 40202 or to the Michael J. Flora Rebekah Hamilton, age 16 of Walland, TN, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 10, 2002. She was a Sophomore at Heritage High School. Loved ones left behind include: parents, Jerry and Vickie Hamilton of Walland, TN; brothers, Noah Hamilton, Jonah Hamilton and Fianceé Charlotte Revans all of Walland; grandparents, Charles and Golden Irwin, and Francis Hamilton all of Maryville, Allen Alvin Hamilton, Roger and Diana McCauley of West Virginia; great-grandmother, Flora Proctor of Townsend, TN; nephew, Christian MacKinzie Hamilton of Walland, TN; aunts and uncles, Patrick and Marsha Asquith, L.C., M.E., K.D., and L.N. Hamilton all of Tennessee, Jeff and E.V. ROBERT L. HAMMONTREE
Reverend Robert L. Hammontree, age 74 of Greenback, passed away at 8:50 a.m., November 11, 2002 at the family home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vonore, TN. In 1960, he was called to begin a mission in Smyrna, TN at Rocky Fork, which later became Rocky Fork Baptist Church. For the next four decades, he ministered to the communities and Baptist congregations of Unicoi, Rocky Springs, West Side, Lake Side, and Oak Street. In addition to his ministerial duties he also worked 38 years as Plant Manager of the Tennco Feed Mill in Rockford.
He is preceded in death by: father, Robert F. (Bob) Hammontree; and mother, Maude (Brewer) Hammontree; sister, Ruth Bright; brothers, Melvin Hammontree, Charles Hammontree, Jimmy Hammontree, Joe Hammontree, and Harry Hammontree.
Survivors include: wife of 50 years, Virginia (Nichols) Hammontree; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Alan Harveston of Rock Hill, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Marti Hammontree of Suwanee, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kim Hammontree of Greenback; grandchildren, Holly and Matt Bradshaw of TN, Cole, Casi, Cori, Cris, and Cain Hammontree of GA, and Jason and Jama Hammontree of TN; step-grandchildren, Amy and Kelly Harveston; step-great-grandchild, Lacy Harveston; and special family member, Pete Billingsley; sister, Louise Linginfelter of Greenback; brothers, Ross Hammontree of Colorado, J.C. Hammontree of Greenback, and Kenneth Hammontree of Maryville.

LAURA MAE PAYNE
Laura Mae Payne, age 72 of Maryville, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, November 11, 2002, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was retired from Blount Memorial Hospital after 24 years of service. Mrs. Payne was a member of Morganton Acres Church of God. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and friend and was loved by so many. She will be greatly missed by everyone who ever knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace W. Payne; parents, Sam and Stella Keller; brother, Wade, Hobart, and Fred Keller; sister, Lizzie Whitehead.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Larry (L.D.) and Linda Payne of Alcoa, Roger and Donna Payne of Greenback, Mark and Shirley Payne of Maryville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Connard Webb of Townsend, Cindy and Larry Payne, Karen and Marvin Sizemore of Maryville; 11 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gertie Keller, Betty Tulloch and husband Jack of Maryville, Mary Cobb and husband Gary of South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Earl True and wife Berna Lee of Maryville, Roy Pratt of South Carolina; several special nieces and nephews; many very special friends to include Lisa and Mark Davidson, Ron and Alice Day, Charles and Dorthy Osborne.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Day and Rev. Charles Osborne officiating. JESS ALLAN WOODS
Jess Allan Woods, Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Alcoa, age 49, passed away Monday, November 11, 2002, at his home. He joined the fire department in 1973 and had been Deputy Fire Chief since January, 2000. He was a graduate of Everett High School, received an Associate Degree from Walters State Community College, was a member of several fire-fighting and rescue relief organizations and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bill Tillery of Murfreesboro, TN; sons, Jared and Jake Woods of Alcoa; grandchildren, Will and Zach Tillery; parents, James and Lovella Woods of Maryville; brother, Danny Woods of Maryville.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, Alcoa with Chaplain Danny Davis officiating. Mr. Woods was cremated and the family requests No Flowers. RAY JENNINGS QUILLEN
Ray Jennings Quillen, age 83 of Louisville, passed away Monday, November 11, 2002, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a long-time member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Mentor, was a veteran of World War II, was retired from ALCOA and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Robbins Quillen; father and mother, Loren E. Quillen, Sr. and Pearl Winegar Quillen; sister, Ethel Drake; brothers, L.E. Quillen, Jr., Ernest, Kenneth, Harold and Claude Quillen.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Harless and Rev. A.J. Rowland officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Middlesettlements cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. Mr. Quillen's Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
