Alda Irene Conner, age 87 of Alcoa, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at U.T. Medical Center. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alcoa and preceded in death by husband, Samuel Henry Conner; mother, Dolly Clabo; and sister, Nelle Spears. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Loris and James Colborn of Greenback; grandchildren, Linda and husband, Mark Rakauskas of Chattanooga, James Colborn of Hamilton, Ohio; great-granddaughters, Samantha Colborn and Gabrielle Colborn both of Hamilton, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Rowena and Roy Huskey of Alcoa; sister, Anna Lee Whaley of Alcoa; nephews, Donald Huskey and Ronald Whaley both of Alcoa.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2002 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Joe Green officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Mattox cemetery in Sevier County for the interment service, Rev. Jason Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Alcoa Building Fund, 617 Gilbert Street, Alcoa TN. 37701. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

GENROSE CRABTREE
Genrose Crabtree, age 83 of Louisville, died Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Alcoa Way Baptist Church. preceded in death by: parents, Ausley Raines Reasons and Verbie Taylor Reasons; grandson, Joseph Crabtree; and several brothers.
Survivors include: husband, Clint W. Crabtree; sons and daughters-in-law, Zane and Des Crabtree of Tampa, FL, Rance and Dianne Crabtree of Lake Wales, FL, Gary and Betty Crabtree of Roxboro, NC; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Alvin Jacobs of Knoxville and Faith and Charlie Goins of Louisville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, D.W. Reasons of Alamo, TN and Doris Reasons of Milan, TN; sister, Gladys Porter of Alamo, TN.
Family and friends will assemble at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2002 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for graveside service and interment with Rev. Gary Davidson officiating. Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

MAJOR D.L. DICKERSON
Major D.L. Dickerson, age 82 of Louisville died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a faithful member of Alcoa First Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Army after 27 years of service as Sgt. Major.
Preceded in death by: wife, Doris M. Dickerson; daughter, Francis M. Dill.
Survivors include: sons, David Dickerson of SC, Major Dickerson of Maryville, Jeff Dickerson of Florida, Travis Dickerson of Louisville; daughters, Pat Mitchem of SC, Krissy Emory of SC, Kanda Dockery of SC, Wendy Brackin of Maryville; 28 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, William Dickerson, Raymond Dickerson, Rudolph Dickerson all of SC.
Memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2002 at Alcoa First Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Holden and Rev. Henry Linginfelter officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2002 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment with military honors. Family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2002, at Alcoa First Baptist Church.

GEORGE `IRA' PARRISH III
George 'Ira' Parrish, III, age 35 died Sunday, November 17, 2002, at his home in Maryville, Tennessee. He was born January 5, 1967, the only child of Cindy N. Parrish and George I. Parrish, Jr. Ira was a talented artist, and worked as a graphic designer primarily in advertising and Web design. He was also a musician, singer, and song writer, and was currently a member of a band out of Athens, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, George I. Parrish, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George I. Parrish, Sr. of Jesup, GA; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd M. Nation of Ringgold, GA.
He is survived by his mother, Cindy N. Parrish and stepfather, Bjorn Axelsson of Maryville, TN; stepsister and husband, Karen Axelsson and Philip LeBoit; nieces, Tory, Phoebe, and nephew, Jonah of Orinda, CA; aunts and uncles, June and Ed Gunlock of Knoxville, TN, Steve and Bamby Nation of Savannah, GA, Starr and Cavanaugh Holland of Montgomery, TX, Mary and Billy Sanders of Warner Robbins, GA, Elizabeth and Fred Marshal of Tyler, TX; twenty six cousins and a host of wonderful friends.
A graveside service and interment will be 3 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2002, Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Bob Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2002, North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153.

CATHERINE STICKEL
Catherine Stickel, age 95 of Townsend, Tennessee died Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. preceded in death by: husband, Le Roy Stickel Sr; brother, Frank Hanakan; sisters, Elsie Boehme and Anna Hanakan.
Survivors include: son and daughter- in-law, Le Roy Jr. and Martha Stickel of Killen, Alabama; daughter, Catherine Girard of Townsend; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; niece, Elizabeth Bevis of New Jersey. Asleep in Jesus, beloved mother, aunt and grandmother, you will always be remembered.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2002 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Scottie Burkhalter officiating. Interment will follow at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2002, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

DANIEL LEE WHITEHEAD
Daniel Lee Whitehead, age 86 of PA, formerly of Blount County, TN, passed away Monday, November 18, 2002 in PA. He was born December 25, 1915 in Walland, TN, son of the late John and Sarah Jane Burns Whitehead. He was a graduate of Cornell University with a Masters Degree and received his B.S. Degree from the University of TN. He was an electrical engineer for Westinghouse Electric and retired as a manager for High Voltage Laboratories in East Pittsburgh. He was an avid private pilot, was a member of the IEEE and served several terms on the Franklin Township School Board.
Survivors include: wife, Lenore Ruth Ridings Whitehead; children, Barbara Jean Keywood and her husband, Paul of Crofton, MD, Daniel Lee Whitehead, Jr. and his wife, Lucille of Durham, NC and Patricia Gail Hanson and her husband, Steve of Frederick, MD; 5 grandchildren, Susan Horan, Thomas Gordon, Jennifer Tracey, Polly Judd and Beth Burbridge; 13 grandchildren; brother, Howard Whitehead of KY; sister, Ethel Ratledge of Walland.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.

BURGIA HUSKEY BAILEY
Burgia Huskey Bailey, age 76 of Kodak, TN passed away Saturday, November 16, 2002, at Sevier Co. Health Care Center. She was a member of the French Broad Valley Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by husband, Bert Bailey; brothers, Willard, Ennis and Roy Huskey and Jack Whaley.
Survivors: daughters, Shirley Creswell of Kodak, Rosa Lee and husband Steve Merritt of Maryville, Kathy Ellison of Kodak; grandsons, Mark and wife Ashley Creswell and Brad Merritt; granddaughters, Kendra Merritt and La Tasha McMahan; sisters, Dora Cate of Kodak and Josie Chambers of Sevierville; brother, Loy Huskey of Illinois; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to the Sevier Co. Health Care Center for all the loving care of our mother.
The family will be at the home of Shirley Creswell, 501 Bent Rd., Kodak. Funeral services Tuesday 8:00 p.m. at the French Broad Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Harkleroad, Rev. Jimmy Riner and Rev. Mike Rutherford officiating. Interment graveside services Wednesday 10:00 a.m. at Underwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. prior to services at the church.

JAMES MITCHELL `TANK' BREEDEN
James Mitchell "Tank" Breeden, age 62 of Maryville died Saturday November 16, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Elenore Dixon Breeden.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Diana and Chuck Rogers, Debbie Breeden all of Maryville; brothers, Billy W. Breeden of Richmond, VA, Charles L. Breeden of Maryville, Bobby L. Breeden of Richmond, VA, Jimmy Breeden of Maryville; grandchildren, John Dyer Jr., Lynnsey Breeden; great grandchildren, Tucker Dyer, Abigail Dyer; uncle, Ora Halk, and Don Lawson.
Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville with Rev. Carl Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at State Veterans cemetery in Knoxville for a Military Graveside service provided by The Volunteer State Honor Guard under the command of Col. Bob Mize.

NELLIE HADDOCK HELTON
Nellie Haddock Helton, age 87 of Maryville, died Sunday, November 17, 2002 at the family home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Herman Marshall Helton; daughter, Wanda McSpadden; granddaughter, Leah Helton; brothers Leonard and Frank Haddock; and sister Buena Dedmon.
Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Max and Jean Helton of Huntersville, N.C.; son-in-law, Kenneth McSpadden of Alcoa; granddaughters, Pam Trentman and husband Rick of Seymour, Cheryl Effler and husband Dennis of Maryville, Joy Cagle and husband Dale of Huntersville, N.C., Angie Foster of Alcoa, Melanie Barker and husband Daryl of Huntersville, N.C., Elaine Helton of Huntersville, N.C., Crista Helton of Newport Beach, CA, Becky Chapman and husband Rob of Durham, N.C.; twelve great grandchildren, Travis and Josh Trentham, Adam and Katie Effler, Creed Marshall Cagle, Chase Foster, D.J., Brooke, Samuel, Madison, and Amber Barker, Rachel Chapman; brothers, David and Walter Haddock; sister, Ola Mae Smith; special caregiver, Myrtle Cockrell. Funeral Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday November 18, 2002 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with the Rev. Danny Jenkins officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday November 19, 2002 at Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000

VADIE DEVINE JENKINS
Vadie Devine Jenkins, of Alcoa, age 83, died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ishmael Lee Jenkins; sons, Benny Fred Jenkins and Dewey Frank Jenkins; granddaughter, Renee Haughpert; father, Jacob Houk Devine; mother, Arlie Devine; sister, Pearl Costner; brother, Reece Devine.
Survivors include, sons and daughters-in-law, J. Will and Sue Jenkins of Madisonville and Leon and Catherine Jenkins of Ellijoy, GA; son, Beecher Jenkins of Marietta, GA; daughters and sons-in- law, Joyce and Rev. James Beasley of Maryville, Bernice and Charles Hodges of Maryville, Shirley and Ronnie Finley of Maryville; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; brother, James Cecil Devine of Lansing, IL; sisters, Earle Gentry of Madisonville, Marie Akins of Lenoir City, Mae and Creed Tallent of Chesterton, IN.
Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2002 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. James Beasley and Rev. Don Woody officiating. DELLA AMYX (MRS. HALMER) MORGAN
Della Amyx (Mrs. Halmer) Morgan, age 93, of Fountain City, passed away Saturday evening at Fairpark Health Care Center, Maryville. She was the widow of Halmer I. Morgan.
Survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Adrienne and Colin Valentine, Maryville; grandson and wife, Colin Morgan and Ruth Ann Valentine; great granddaughters, Emma and Noelle Valentine, Heidelburg, Germany; sister, Mrs. Lela Cruze, Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Lynnhurst cemetery for graveside services at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Marshall Duncan officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at Gentry-Griffey Chapel, Knoxville.

BESSIE AKINS PITTS
Bessie Akins Pitts, age 99 of Maryville passed away Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church for many years. She retired from Proffitts Department Store. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam S. Pitts; parents, Floyd and Ava Kitchens Akins; son-in-law, Clark McMahan.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine P. McMahan, of Maryville; sister, Loie Patterson, of Maryville; brother, Reed Akins, Dalton, GA; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Dr. Darris Doyal and Rev. Sterling Turner officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home or at the daughters home at your convenience.
