Marty A. Hummel, age 45 of Houston, TX, formerly of Maryville, passed away Monday, November 25, 2002 in Houston, TX. He was a graduate of The University of Tennessee and Maryville High School. He was a longtime employee of Shell Oil Co.
Survivors include: son, Jonathan Hummel and his mother, Safa Hummel; parents, Fred and Linda Hummel of Knoxville and Marlene Hummel of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Rocky and Gay Hummel of Knoxville; grandmother, Josie Hummel of Knoxville.
Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2002, West Chapel, Smith Mortuary. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Grandview cemetery for the interment. ARVILLE LESTER `LEFTY' MARTIN
Arville Lester "Lefty" Martin, age 75 of Maryville departed this life on Monday, November 25, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He attended East Walland Baptist Church. He was retired from ALCOA after 39 years of service. preceded in death by parents, William and Margaret Ann Martin; brothers, Sam, Huse, Fred, Tom, John, and Chester Martin; sisters, Mamie Caldwell and Mattie Potter.
Survivors include wife of fifty-four years, Margaret Whitehead Martin; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie "Ron" and Jane Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Gene Waters; granddaughter, Susann and husband Tim Starrett; granddaughter, Dawn Waters; step granddaughter, Kristi and husband Randall Teffeteller; step great grandson, Justin Teffeteller; brother, William "Bill" Martin all of Maryville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of devoted friends.
Funeral Service will be 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2002 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Terry Nelson and Rev. Gerald Smelcer officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Leonard R. Tuck, age 57 of Friendsville passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2002.
Preceded in death by parents, Hubert and Agatha Williams Tuck; sisters, Lucy Jane Smith, Jessie Bottoms; brothers, Joe Tuck, Hubert Tuck Jr.
Survivors: wife, Nancy C. DOROTHY DAVIS WALLACE
Dorothy Davis Wallace, age 79 of Maryville, TN, passed away, Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at Maryville Healthcare Center. She was retired from the Tennessee Department of Employment Security, an active member in the Women's Golf Association at Green Meadow, the Knoxville Area Women's Golf Association and the Smoky Mountain Bridge Club.
Survivors include: husband of 54 years, George B. Wallace of Maryville; daughter, Anne Wallace of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, George and Judy Wallace of Lebanon, TN; sister-in-law, Jane Wallace Alford; brother-in-law, John L. Wallace of Lewisburg, TN; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2002, in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jim Daugherty officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home, Lewisburg, TN on Saturday, November 30, 2002, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The burial will take place on Sunday, December 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Lone Oak cemetery in Lewisburg, TN. VIRGIE ELLEN DAVIS WILSON
Virgie Ellen Davis Wilson, age 91 of the Prospect Community passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Virgie was born on April 9, 1911 to Charles and Sophie Cummings Davis in the Prospect Community where she lived her 91 + years. Virgie graduated from Walland High School, attended Carson-Newman College for two years, and worked at ALCOA. She enjoyed working outdoors and remained very active until recently. Virgie loved her family, friends, and Prospect Baptist Church. Her grandparents and sixteen others started the church in the parlor of their home. She was also a member of the Golden Prospectors and the TEL Sunday School Class. preceded in death by parents; husband, Clyde Wilson; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Avis Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ernest Rogers; and nephew, Eddie Lynn Davis.
Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Lorettie Wilson; grandson, John L. Wilson, Jr.; granddaughter, Chrissy Wilson; great-grandson, James Wilson, all of Seymour; stepson and wife, Bill and Genevieve Wilson of Texas; nephew and wife, John P., Jr. and Ruth Davis; great nephews and wives, John P. III and Rhonda Davis, Chris K. and Melinda Davis all of Walland; great niece and husband, Charity and Alex Decker; great nephew, Charlie Davis; three great-great nephews; two great-great nieces; and a host of friends and cousins too numerous to mention. Funeral Service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2002 in the East Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Eugene Gann and Rev. Ernest Condee officiating. WEEKS, SONNY RAYMOND, 44, Missouri, formerly of Maryville, died at home Sunday, Nov. 24.
Survivors: wife, Carla Diane Weeks; daughters, Connie Sharp Gourley of Maryville and Kristina Weeks of Bates City, Mo.; three grandchildren; mother, Lola Vivian Weeks Cunningham of Seymour.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday at Smith Mortuary. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Holston College Cemetery.

JEAN C. AULTOM
Jean C. Aultom, age 73 of Alcoa passed away Sunday evening, November 24, 2002 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, Knoxville. preceded in death by grandson, Christopher Brown.
Survivors: husband, Rev. David L. Aultom; daughter and sons-in-law, Terry Hicks of Maryville, Becky and Paul Gentry of Maryville, Vicky and Mike Hammontree of Greenback, Kimberly White of Maryville; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Ginger Aultom of Alcoa, Tim Aultom of Michigan, John and Jackie Aultom of Knoxville; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie and Jack Wilkerson of Powell, TN, June and Larry Simpson of Maine, Birdie Hawkins of Powell, TN; sisters-in-law, Trula Duggan of Powell, TN, Helen Cline of Kodak, Imogene West of Strawberry Plains; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2002 Ballard's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Jerry Vittatoe officiating, Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The body is at the family home, 548 East Cunningham St., Alcoa where friends may call at their convenience. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

MORRIS A. CARTER
Morris A. Carter, 87, of Magnolia Estates of Oconee, formerly of Vincent Drive, Athens, GA, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002.
A native of Preston, Georgia, Mr. Carter was a son of the late Walter L. and Georgia Mae Sanders Carter and the widower of Cecile Lesseur Carter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having survived the Normandy Beach invasion and the Battle of the Bulge of World War II. He was a retired inspector with Overhead Door and a member of West End Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Amelia and Paul Stephenson of Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sandra Carter of Maryville, TN; two brothers, Ralph Carter of Morrow, GA and Arthur Carter of Albany, GA; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, GA. Funeral services will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Larry Elliott officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Stephenson, Todd Stephenson, Chris Carter, Wade Matteson, Todd Jones and Craig Jones. Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

EDNA L. JAMES
Edna L. James, age 60 of Chattanooga, formerly of Maryville, passed away Monday, November 25, 2002, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie A. and Rhoda Butler James.
Survivors include: brothers, Joe James of Louisville, John James of Maryville, Charles James of Louisville and Jack James of Walland; sister, Mae Brown of Ohio.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview cemetery with Dr. John Franklin officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.

MARY HIGHTOWER JONES
Mary Hightower Jones, age 89, formerly of Lake City and Alcoa died Sunday, November 24, 2002 at Stratford House Rehabilitation Center in Chattanooga. She was born April 29, 1913 in Coal Creek, daughter of the late Nathaniel Thomas Hightower and Sallie Elliott Hightower. She was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church of Maryville. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, William Carroll Jones August 30, 1969; and by 2 sisters, Katie Bennett and Lucille Robert; and 1 brother, Raymond Hightower.
She is survived by: step-daughter, Catherine `Cat' Champion of Chattanooga, TN; half-brother, N.T. Hightower and wife Margaret; and half-sister, Pauline Smith, all of Nashville; local nieces, Mary Frank Coile of Powell, Carmetia Alderson of Clinton and Vivian Weatherford Minish of Oak Ridge; nephew, Harry `Bruz' Bennett and his wife Anna Lou of Keller, TX.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the National cemetery in Knoxville with Chaplain Les Fauntleroy officiating. Memorials may be made to Adventa Hospice, 5959 Shallowford Rd., Building 500-A, Suite 505, Chattanooga, TN 37421. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.

BRUCE MICHAEL KEENER
Bruce Michael Keener, age 54, went to live with Jesus on Monday, November 25, 2002, at 4:15 p.m. He joins his parents, Melvin and Hazel Hembree Keener; his sister, Joyce Keener Johnson; and brother-in-law, Bill Parkerson, who have preceded him in death. Survivors include: sisters, Marilyn Parkerson of Lenoir City, Thelma and brother-in-law Jimmy Murphy of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Wendell and Mattie Keener of Lenoir City; brother-in-law, Clay Johnson of Greensboro, GA; special friends and former care givers, David and Phyllis Jackson of Lenoir City; special friends, Bobby Wear and Gary Jenkins; and all the care givers and nurses at ACT in Lenoir City, you were all so special to Bruce and he loved you so much; nieces and nephews, Trish Lawson, Debbie Mashburn, Tony and Greg Parkerson all of Lenoir City, Michele Kelso and Kim Long of Maryville.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Guy Milam and Rev. Elmer Sharp officiating. J.M. Maples, age 91 of Walland, died Monday, November 25, 2002 at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church. preceded in death by: wife, Bennie Maples; son, James Ralph Maples; son, Kenneth Ray Maples; parents, Robert and Iva Maples.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Ed Rogers of Walland; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janette Maples of Seymour; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
