Charles Hardin Raby, age 87 of Maryville passed away Saturday evening May 11, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born October 23, 1914 in Sweetwater, TN the son of Charles Dexter Raby and Margaret Elizabeth Thompson Emerson Raby. Member of West Maryville Baptist Church and attended East Alcoa Baptist Church. Member of New Providence Lodge No. 128 F&AM. Retired from Alcoa with 35 years service and member of the 25 Year Club. Formerly owner and operator of Raby's Barber Shop on Morganton Road. Served in Tellico Plains C.C.C. Camp in the early 1930's. World War II U.S. Navy service in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Dade and USS Adair and was in combat action during the Battle of Okinawa. Also preceded in death by wife of 58 years, Anna Mae Blankenship Raby; infant daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Raby; brother, John Everette Raby; sisters, Lucile Raby, Reba Hanchey, Daisy Mulkey.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Judith A. and John Marshall Hale of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry E. and Peggy Raby of Maryville; grandchildren, Kevin Raby, Greg Raby, Chris Raby, Tony Raby, Colleen Hale, and Patrick Hale; great-grandchildren, Chelsea S. Hale and Dalton L. Raby. Funeral Service 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2002 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. David Randolph and Rev. Arkie D. Baker officiating. Interment service 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by East Tennessee State Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

HELEN LUCILLE RAUHUFF
Helen Lucille Rauhuff, age 67 of Maryville passed away Saturday, May 11, 2002 at her home. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church-Retired from BTR Sealing Systems-Employee of Kinder Care Leaning Center -Where she tenderly cared for the babies!
She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Rauhuff; sons, James L. Rauhuff and Jerry M. Rauhuff; parents, Hobert Giffin and Corneila Benson Giffin; brothers, Bobby, Charles, and Jerry Giffin; sister, Katherine Purkey. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Steve Albright, Susan and David Snoderly, Benita and Chuck Tipton of Maryville; daughters, Teresa Bright, Penny Swafford of Florida, Kendra Swafford Rauhuff, of Maryville; daughter-in-law, Christine Rauhuff of Athens; grandchildren, Jimmy Rauhuff, Timmy Rauhuff, Brad Albright, Shellie Albright Hernandez, Shane Snoderly, Jeremy Snoderly, Nick Bright, Tessa Bright, Ryan Tipton, Trea Tipton, Kassie Swafford, and Kayla Swafford; great grandchildren, Jerry, Josh, and Joey Rauhuff, Blane Hernandez, Baylee Albright, Brett Snoderly, Gabe Belk, and Cale Bright; special friend- Charles Trentham; sisters, Juanita Beckner, Mildred Evans of Maryville, Freida Sacker of Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Harold Dotson of Greenback, Carol and Ben Pietz, of Canada; brothers-in-law, James Purkey of Friendsville and Ben Rauhuff, of Maryville; sisters-in-law, Irene Rauhuff, Edith Boring, and Ruth Beasley, of Maryville; half-sisters Jean Handley, Jeanette Adcock, and Gail Parrish, of Maryville; stepbrother, Hillard Watkins of Maryville; several nieces and nephews and lots of friends.
Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Monday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John F. Davis officiating. The interment will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Carpenters Cemetery. Virginia Martin Elrod, age 80 of Maryville, passed away Friday, May 10, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church and preceded in death by husband, Paul G. Elrod, parents, William Thomas and Margaret Card Martin and brothers, Lewis and John Martin.
Survivors: Daughter: Peggy Hoy of Mesa, Arizona. Son: Gary Elrod of Cookeville, TN. Grandchildren: Serena Hoy, Samantha Hoy Smith, Daniel Hoy, Kevin Elrod and Kristen Elrod. Sister: Betty Brinkmier of DeLand, Florida. Brother: Tom Martin of Alexandria, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at New Providence Presbyterian Church, Rev. Emily J. Anderson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Providence Presbyterian Church, 703 West Broadway, Maryville, TN. 37801. Family will receive friends following the service at the church. LENA MAE LONG HITCH
Lena Mae Long Hitch, age 95 of Maryville passed away Saturday morning, May 11, 2002 at Maryville Health Care. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. preceded in death by husband, Joe R. Hitch; brothers, Raymond Long, Earl Long, Hartsell Long, and Ollie Long; sisters, Stella Thompson and Mary France; son-in-law, Willis Don Davis; daughter-in-law, Mary Grace Walker Hitch; great-granddaughter, Belinda Gay Buckner.
Survivors include, sons and daughters-in-law, Joe E. Sr., and Louise Hitch of Knoxville, Fred H. and Maxine Hitch of Louisville, Glenn F. Hitch of Maryville; daughter, Eva Lee Hitch Davis of Louisville; sister, Cleo Long Wilson of Maryville; grandchildren and spouses, Kathleen and Gerald Nelson, Joe Ed Hitch Jr., Brian and Denise Hitch, Timothy Hitch all of Knoxville, Ellis D. and Brenda Davis, Linda Gay Wright, Roy Davis, Glenn Hitch, Jr., Connie and Randy Hooper, and Kim and Phil Abbott all of Maryville; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2002 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Glenn Grubb and Rev. Mark Grubb officiating and music by the Southern Touch Quartet. WILLIAM EUGENE `GENO' SEATON
William Eugene 'Geno' Seaton of Maryville; born, February 27, 1916; died May 10, 2002 at the family home. preceded in death by parents, Nelson and Jennie Hall Seaton; brothers, Ray, Frank, Howard Seaton; sisters, Elllen Myers, Pearl Tatum, Blanche LaPorte.
Survivors: wife, Betty Tipton Seaton; daughters and sons-in-law, Eugenia and Danny Spencer, of Alcoa, Sharon and Lamar Plemons, of Louisville; grandchildren, Kari and Michael Spencer, Jon and Kelly Plemons, Elizabeth and Josh Wright, Eric Plemons; great-grandchildren, William Logan Plemons, Dacey Plemons; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edgar and Winella Seaton, of Maryville, Stanley and Sue Seaton, of Maryland; several nieces and nephews.

FAYE VICK HUSKEY
Faye Vick Huskey, age 84 of Maryville, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Methodist Women's Society.
Preceded in death by: parents, John Thomas Vick and Martha Bell Vick; brothers, Scott, A.M., and Elmer Vick; sisters, Hazel Smith and Ruth Nease.
Survivors include: husband of 55 years, Hugh Huskey; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Wayne Cooper of Talbott, TN; grandchildren, Mary Cooper of Jefferson City, TN and Allison Cooper of Talbott, TN.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2002 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Paul Longmire officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. CHARLOTTE ANN TALLENT
Charlotte Ann Tallent age 43 passed away May 7, 2002. preceded in death by Mother, Mary E. Tallent.
Survivors: son, Adam Tallent; daughter, Candy Heyer; father, Gary Tallent, Sr.; sister, Tresa Shumate; husband, Robert; brother, Gary Tallent, Jr.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Family will receive friends Friday May 10, 2002 6-8 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Clarence Byrd officiating. Family and friends will meet at Grandview cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday for Graveside service. Memorial Funeral Home Maryville 983-2050.

CHARLES KENNETH (TEXAS PAPAW) TERRELL
Charles Kenneth (Texas Papaw) Terrell, age 55 of Dallas, TX died Monday, May 6, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. He was formerly of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Woodrow Terrell Sr.; his grandparents, William Ernest and Kathrine Samantha Evans.
He is survived by his mother, Rosa Evans Terrell of Dallas, TX; daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Bob Slaughter, April and Billy Pedigo; grandchildren, Baylee and Braye Slaughter, Tanner and Holli Pedigo all of Maryville; brother, Woody Terrell of Atlanta, GA; sister, Linda Terrell of Franklin; nieces and nephews, Kim and Travis Woodside, Jenny Uzenoff; great-niece, Kaitlyn Woodside all of Franklin; aunts, uncles and cousins from Atlanta, GA; aunt and uncle of Australia, Mr. and Mrs. John Able and cousins, special friends, Bill and Joyce Jacobs, and Kayleen Oliver and numerous other friends of Dallas, TX.
Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Sexton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday to precede to an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart Foundation. Pallbearers will be Woody Terrell, Bob Slaughter, Bodie Slaughter, Bunky Slaughter, Billy Slaughter, and David Coppenger.

BETTY CAYLOR THARPE
Betty Caylor Tharpe, age 73 of Maryville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was a member of Maryville First Church of the Nazarene where she served on the Board, as Church Secretary, as Missionary President for several years, and as a Sunday School Teacher. preceded in death by: son, James Lester "Jimmy" Brooks; parents, James E. Caylor and Lola M. (Pritchard) Caylor; brother, Kenneth E. Caylor; sister, Barbara Sue "Susie" Wheeler.
Survivors include: husband of 42 years, Donald E. Tharpe; granddaughter, Jennifer Leslie (Brooks) Brown and husband, Heath Brown; great-grandson, Garrett Thomas Brown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. J.B. Caylor and Sylvia Caylor, Rev. Larry Caylor and Carol Caylor; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Cleamon Johnson; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Chris Trent and Julie Lang.
Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2002 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Ray Couie and Rev. J.B. Caylor officiating. JACK H. WALKER
Jack H. Walker, age 62, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord his Savior, Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at UT Hospital. He was a former Knoxville police officer and subsequently retired after a long career with Alcoa, but the pride of his life was his family and his church. Of course, his golf game, including three career hole-in-ones, was also a frequent source of conversation at Green Meadow Country Club.
He is survived by wife, Pat; sons, David and Daniel; their wives, Elaine and Jenky; grandchildren, Jonathan, Tyler, and Samantha; brother, Benny and wife Tommie; and mother-in-law, Edith Latham, who will all miss Jack enormously, but rejoice that he has entered heaven.
Funeral service Friday, May 10, 2002, 7:30 p.m., Stock Creek Baptist Church. Graveside service at the church cemetery will be Saturday, May 11, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Stock Creek Baptist Church library, 8106 Martin Mill Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Stock Creek Baptist Church. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

ROBERT A. DRESCHER
2002-05-08
Robert A. Drescher, age 80 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Light House Haven Retirement Care. He was born in Buffalo, NY on February 27th 1922. He was a veteran of four years in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle Riegel Drescher and Casper Drescher.
He is survived by his wife, Margery Baker Drescher; sons and daughters-in-law, James Drescher and Diane Donahue Drescher of Plano, TX, Edward Van D'Elden and Sandra Clough Van D'Elden of Amherst, NY; son, Paul Drescher of Oak Hill, Ohio; grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Alex Waraksa officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church following the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Blount County Library, 301 McGhee St., Maryville TN 37801 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Eastern TN Chapter, 2200 Sutherland Ave., Suite H 102, Knoxville TN 37919.

Sidney Sampson Keaton, Jr., age 78 of Lenoir City passed away Monday, May 6, 2002 at his home. Sampson was retired from the Labor Union in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia French Keaton; son, Lloyd Ples Keaton; brothers, Danny, Peter, Isaac, Asa and Paul Keaton; sisters, Tennie McCollum, Pearl Masingo, Hazel Shepherd, Martela Bowerman and Dorothy Frank.
Survived by son, Bill Keaton and wife, Linda of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Sampson Keaton of Virginia and Isaac Keaton of Lenoir City, Stephanie Moore and husband, Rob of Lenoir City; great-grandson, Grayson Moore; brothers, Dewey Keaton of Washington, Homer Keaton of Friendsville and Ben Keaton of Lenoir City; sister, Oma Bowers of Friendsville; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John Russell will officiate. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hickory Valley cemetery for graveside services.
