Zella Irene Ward Havens, age 78 of Louisville, formerly of Maryville, passed away Saturday morning, March 23, 2002 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Kevin Jones. preceded in death by mother, Partlia Ward; sisters, Stella Johnson and Ellen Spradlin; brothers, Mackie, James, Frank, Henry Ward; husband, Clifford Havens; daughter, Mary Lee Parrott.
Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Kevin Jones of Louisville; grandaughters, Tina Estrada, Kim Jones, Kayla Jones; great-grandchildren, Michael David, Tony Lynn, Tamera Marie; sisters, Pat White, Gertrude Osborne, Johnnie Dixon; brother-in-law, Curtis Dixon; many nieces and nephews whom all loved her greatly.

Barbara Feidelson Leypoldt, age 71 of Maryville, died Saturday, March 23, 2002 at home. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Southeastern Rhododendron Society.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Richard McAffee of Atlanta, and son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Julie Scholl of Miami, Fla., and daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Dale Faircloth of Maryville and grandchildren, Sarah McAffee, David and Amy Scholl, and Jonathon and Olivia Faircloth.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Highland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ann Owens Brunger officiating. McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in charge. Helen Rutherford Love, age 85 of Alcoa went to be with the Lord when she passed away Saturday, March 23, 2002 at the family home. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and their UMW and the J.O.Y. Club. preceded in death by husband, John H. Love; daughter, Peggy Goodwin, parents, Boyd and Bessie Oglesby Rutherford; brothers and sister-in-law, Alvin Rutherford, Lawrence and Dot Rutherford; sisters, Dorothy and Stella Rutherford; brothers-in-law, Ralph Love and Claude Houk.

Daisey Beatrice Bowling, age 84 of Maryville, passed away Thursday morning, March 21, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Nelson Chapel Church of Christ. preceded in death by husband, Roy Bowling; and son, Robert L. Shumate.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Shumate of Maryville; sons, Bill Shumate of Spring City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Faye McKee of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.

Jesse O. "Buster" Brown, age 73 of Franklin, TN, formerly of Maryville, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in Franklin.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Brown of Franklin; son, James M. Brown of Hudson, MA; daughter, Susan Campbell of Peachtree City, GA; granddaughter, Brandi Campbell; grandsons, Justin Campbell, Kyle Brown and Jason Brown.

JOHN PAUL SCOTT HOPKINS
John Paul Scott Hopkins, age 34 passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at Ft. Sanders Medical Center. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hopkins; grandmother, Edna Black Andrews; great-aunts, Claudine Nelson and June Hannum; aunts, Esther Black Prigmore and Sandra Dobson Black.
He leaves to mourn his passing: mother, Mary H. Dean; father, Phillip D. Dean; brothers, Doug Dean and Duan Tate; sisters, Tomorrow Andrews and Freda Dean; godparents, Ray and Connie Scott; a very devoted niece Daveda Dean; four uncles; four aunts; and a host of cousins and other relatives and special friends.
The body was cremated and no services are planned. The family will receive friends at 691 Grant St., Alcoa. Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville in charge.
JOHN M. HOWELL
John M. Howell, of Maryville, TN, passed away at Blount Memorial Hospital, Wednesday, March 20, 2002, after a determined 1˝ year fight against pancreatic cancer. Born August 10, 1942, in Heflin, AL, the son of Hugh and Vida Howell, John graduated from Cleburne County High School and attended Jacksonville State University before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed at the University of Tennessee AFROTC, John came to love the mountains and lakes of East Tennessee and chose to remain here after being discharged. John was an active member of Springview Baptist Church where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee, was a Sunday School Director and Trustee. He worked for the CSX Transportation for 32 years. He was an accomplished woodworker and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include: wife, Stephanie Tucker; brothers and families, Jerry Howell and Marilyn Longan of Stillwater, OK, Gene and Cookie Howell of Maryville, TN; sister-in-law, Cathy High of Atlanta, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dale and Beverly Tucker of Greeneville, TN; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gale and Dan Johnson of Jackson, TN; 7 nieces and 4 nephews; special "adopted" daughter, Esperanza Tuck and husband Jimmy.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, at Springview Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Hale and Rev. Guy Milam officiating. Kay Diane (Shultz) Allen Lewelling, age 56 of Seymour formerly of Claxton passed away Monday, March 11, 2002, at home. She was of the Baptist Faith and formerly attended Riverview Baptist Church. preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Turner Shultz and Ruby Lee King Shultz.
She leaves to mourn her passing, sons, Bradley Allen and wife Tina, Brent Allen, David Allen all of Claxton; daughter, Rebecca Allen of Claxton; five granddaughters, Hope, Syra, Courtney, Shyanne and Nikki; two grandsons, Slaton and Trey; brothers, Larry Lee Shultz and wife Shirley of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Carolyn S. Sharpe of Claxton; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

BILLY HOYT THOMPSON
Billy Hoyt Thompson, age 59 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital. Bill was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church. He recently served as Park Manager at Ft. Loudon State Park. Prior to that, he served as Park Manager at Norris Dam State Park and as District Manager for a host of State Parks as he relocated across the State with the Department of Environment and Conservation. Bill often served as Minister of Music in local churches in the areas where he was located as a State Park employee. He will be sadly missed by friends across the State.
He is survived by: his wife, Ann; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Trevor Warwick of Maynardville, LeighAnn and Dewayne Leftwich of Alburn, KY; his only grandchild, Tyler Warwick of Maynardville; his mother, Reba Thompson of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Janet Thompson of Maryville; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Martha Helen and David Snellgrove of Batesville, MS, Linda and Ken Shockley of Lenoir City; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of special friends.
