Pearl Poore, age 80 of Kokomo, Ind., formerly of Maryville, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2002 at Sycamore Health Care Center in Kokomo. She was of the Baptist Faith. preceded in death by daughter, Irene Birl; parents, Jason Floyd and Maude Alice Ditmore; sister, Eula Jones and first husband, James Birl.
Survivors: husband, James Poore; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Dean Casey of Kokomo, Ind.; son and daughter-in-law, James and Sharon Birl of Kokomo, Ind.; grandchildren, Jason Rust of Kokomo, Ind., Teresa Swanson of Florida, Connie Doulin of Florida, Derek Birl of Maryville and James Birl of Maryville; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nora Jenkins of Kokomo, Ind., Jessie Miles of Greenback and Nina Jones of Maryville; brothers, Roy Ditmore of Maryville, Henry Ditmore of Maryville and Jack Ditmore of Kokomo, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2002 at Knob Road Baptist Church, Rev. Jerry Little officiating. Interment to follow at Kagley's Chapel Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

CORA ELIZABETH REAGAN
Cora Elizabeth Reagan, age 76 of Maryville passed away Monday evening, January 14, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. preceded in death by husband: William H. Reagan; parents, Dave and Cora McClanahan Moore; sister, Jessie Huskey; infant sister, Rosie Moore; brothers, Harrison Moore, Sheridan Moore, Charlie Moore; infant brother, Henry Moore.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Ronald and Elaine Reagan of Friendsville; son, Steve Reagan of Maryville; daughter, Phyllis Allen of Pittsburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Rhonda Reneau, Ronnie Paul Reagan, Francine Fletcher, Ronald Allen, Astin Allen; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Josie Walker of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2002 Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Ronald Reagan, Rev. Chris Reneau officiating. Family and friends will meet at Laurel Grove cemetery near Gatlinburg for the interment service at 2:00 p.m. Friday. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

CHARLES 'DIDDLE' RIDGE
Charles 'Diddle' Ridge, 76 of Townsend, passed away January 16, 2002 at Fort Sanders Hospital. Member of Freedom To Worship Church, retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 Year Club. preceded in death by mother, Mamie Mason; sister, Geneva Brakebill; granddaughter, Charli Ridge.
Survived by wife of 56 years, Geneva Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, Scotty and Sue Ridge of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Ronnie Hepperly of Townsend; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Thursday in Mynatt's Chapel with the Rev. Dale Buchanan officiating. Family and friends will meet at New Gray cemetery 11 a.m. Friday for interment. Pallbearers will be Bryan Hepperly, Hank Hepperly, Spencer Ridge, Stacey Ridge, Joe Thornhill, and Jim Bunch. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Mynatt's.

JUDGE PERRY SHIELDS
Judge Perry Shields, age 77 of Knoxville died Monday, January 14, 2002 at NHC Healthcare at Cavett Hill. He was born in Townsend, son of Fred and Alice Dorsey Shields. He graduated from Everett High School and joined the United States Army where he served in the 104th Infantry Division as a medical aide on the front lines in World War II. In 1944 he was wounded near Auchen, Germany and his leg was amputated. After he returned home he attended Duke University and graduated from Duke Law School in 1950. He was employed by the IRS as a Revenue Agent and then as an attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel for the IRS in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, GA and Greensboro, NC. From 1955 through 1982 he was in the private practice of law specializing in tax and defending taxpayers in tax controversies. In 1982 he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the United States Tax Court where he served until his retirement in 1995. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and his family is very proud of his support of taxpayers while he was on the bench.
Preceded in death by: brothers, Bruce and JD Shields and seven other brothers who passed away in the flu epidemic of 1918.
Survivors include: wife of 50 years, Bonnie Shields; son and daughter-in-law, Bailey and Ann Shields of Maryville; daughters, Leslie and husband Scott Lewis of Knoxville and Beth Shields of Savannah, GA; three grandchildren, Cooper Shields Lewis, Kevin Shields, Karen Shields; brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Shirley Shields of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Richard Everett Jr. of Maryville; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2002 at Smith Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2002 at Bethel Baptist Church in Townsend with Rev. Darren Wigington officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church cemetery with military honors. CLIFFORD L. TALLENT
Clifford L. Tallent, age 76 of Maryville died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Tallent; son, Barry Tallent of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Nina Tallent of Sweetwater.
Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Grandview cemetery for a graveside service.

George Elder Fox, 74, of the Waldens Creek Community in Sevierville passed away Monday, January 14, 2002 following a brief illness. His loving family surrounded George as he began this final journey. He was born February 18, 1927 in Wears Valley and raised in Johnny Mac Hollow (McMahan Saw Mill) of Waldens Creek. As a child he attended Laurel Grove School. At an early age he gave his life to God and became a member of the Laurel Grove Church. As a young man he served his country as a military policeman with the United States Army during World War II in Germany. In the service of his country he attained the rank of Sergeant. After serving his country he went to work for the Aluminum Co. and retired there after 44 years. He was a member of the 25-Year Club. George loved the mountains, auto racing and all sports, especially when his grandchildren were participating. George was preceded in death by his parents, 'Seaton' William and Ethel Webb Fox; infant brother, 'J.R.' Fox.

ROBERTS, KAREN L., 59, Knoxville, formerly of Akron, Ohio, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. She was employed in the housing department at the University of Tennessee.

JOHN M. CODY
John M. Cody, age 33 of Seymour, died Sunday, January 13, 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.L. and Faye Cody; grandparents, Ollie and Ruby Long, Earl and Jettie Cody; nephew, Richard Payne; uncle, Lloyd Chastain.
Survivors: wife, Vickie Cody; daughter, Kellie Cody; son, Joe Cody; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Mike Reagan; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Vicky Cody; father-in-law, Herbert Loveday; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Faye Manning; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie and Celene Loveday; several nieces and nephews; aunt, Martha Chastain; cousin, Allen Chastain.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Gists Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12 noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

ARVILLE R. DEBETY
Arville R. Debety, 89 of 228 Stout Street, Tellico Plains, TN, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2002, at Fort Sanders Hospital. Active member of the First United Methodist Church of Tellico Plains. He was retired from ALCOA after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Tellico Masonic Lodge #80, O.E.S. #324 of Tellico Plains, a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rites, charter member of the Lions Club, a U.S. Army WWII veteran serving both in the European and the Pacific Theaters. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #240.
Preceded in death by father and mother, Billy and Sattie Debety; sister, Beulah McBride; daughter, Betsy Millsaps; granddaughter, Tina Hawkins.
Survivors: wife of 55 years, Hazel Debety of Tellico Plains, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Ina and Jim Isbill of Strawberry Plains, Wanda and Cal Kirkland of Maryville, Joycelene and Fred Feezell of Maryville, Doris Glandon of Walland, Oma and Earl Taylor of Kennesaw, GA, Joyce Plemons of Tellico Plains, Tine and Harold Hawkins Jr. of Tellico Plains; brother and sister-in-law, Dillard and Nell Debety of Tellico Plains; sister, Blanche Pearson of Maryville; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 14, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Eastern Star Funeral Service will begin at 8:00 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Millsaps and Rev. Robert Irwin officiating. Burial will be at New Providence cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Masonic Service will be at the cemetery.

DOROTHY J. (DOTTIE) GRAHAM
Dorothy J. (Dottie) Graham, age 61 of Pigeon Forge, died Saturday, January 12, 2002, at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital.
Preceded by father, Ray E. Rimel.
Survivors include husband, Wayne Graham; sons, Rick and Mike Graham of Pigeon Forge; grandchildren, Cody, Allen and Tori Graham; mother, Mary E. Brackett; sisters, Della Grassly, Deanie Huffstettler, both of Maryville, Rama Jackson; brother, Darrell Brackett of Alabama; mother-in-law, Martha Graham of Pigeon Forge; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2002, in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. James Hatcher officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2002, at Grandview cemetery for the interment. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary. 983-1000

Arville R. Debety, age 89 of Tellico Plains passed away Jan. 12, 2002 at Ft. Sanders Hospital.

HARRY DICKENSON
Lt. Col. Harry Dickenson, age 95, of Walland, formerly of Olympia, WA, died Thursday, January 10, 2002, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He served in the United States Army 3rd Division during World War II. preceded in death by: wife, Mary Margaret Dickenson; father and mother, Archie and Minnie Dickenson of Lafollette, TN; brothers, Roy, Ed, and Willis Dickenson.
Survivors include: brother, Arch Dixon of Maryville; nephews, Paul and Clarence Dickenson of Maryville, Jason Dixon of Maryville and niece, Wilma Jean Yoakum of Monroe, MI; great-nephews, Larry, Terry and Eddie Dickenson of Maryville; great-niece, Ginger Spradlin of Maryville and several great-great-nieces.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 14, 2002, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Alex Waraska officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2002, at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

ELZIE F. FARR
Elzie F. Farr, age 90, of Louisville, died Friday, January 11, 2002, at her home. She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. preceded in death by: husband, W.N. Farr; twin sister, Elsie Keith; sister, Osie Lee Arnold; stepchildren, John Farr, Themla Boyd.
Survivors include: sister, Adria M. Fowler of Louisville; brother, Gaines Fowler of Knoxville; nephew, Dennis Edmonds of Cosby; stepdaughter, Metta Everett of Greenback; several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2002, in the Smith Mortuary with Rev. Kenny Armstrong and Rev. George Williams officiating.
