Frank 'Mousie' Raines, age 94 of Maryville, died Monday, January 28, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Preceded in death by his wife, Rausea Florence Raines; parents, John and Matilda Raines; son, Fred W. Raines; daughter-in-law, Stella Mae Raines, and four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include son, Clyde Raines of Morristown; sons and daughters-in-law, Pastor Delbert and Peggy Raines of Maryville, Delmar and Margie Raines of Maryville, John and Lisa Raines of Jefferson City; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Freeman, Fran and Tom Moss, Gloria and Alvin Peak, Laverne Canant and Brenda and Eddie Moss all of Maryville, Valorie and Roger Boring of Douglasville, Georgia; 35 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah Mapes of Knoxville; special cousin, Etta Williamson; special caregiver, Cookie Wald; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2002, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary with Evangelist Carl W. Nelson and Rev. Billy Carrigan officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Bessie Joan Sizemore, age 70, of Maryville, died Sunday, January 27, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Roy Sanford Sizemore; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth D. and Julie Sizemore of Huntsville, AL; Bryan E. and Darlene Sizemore of Maryville; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack T. and Betty Willis of McConnell, SC, W.B. and Rose Ann Willis of Alexandria, NC, Thomas Willard and Marie Willis Jr. of Leicester, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Billy Wooten of Enka, NC; sister, Sylvia Lester of Yoakum, TX.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2002 in the Dotson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jerry Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Fred A. Dykes
Fred A. Dykes, age 80 of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Baptist Hospital of East TN. He was the son of the late Tommy and Hattie (Latham) Dykes. He was a member and deacon of Dripping Springs Baptist Church, where he was also treasurer for twenty-seven years. Mr. Dykes was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company in 1983 and was a member of the '25 Year Club.' He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Ray Dykes; sisters Lucy Gibson and husband Henry, Gracie Gibson and husband James, Mayme Gibson and husband Lloyd, Florence Morgan and husband Carl, and Lois Dykes; brothers, Kenneth and Billy Dykes.
Survivors: wife, Ada (Bull) Dykes; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Bill Lewelling, Joann and Bud Wolf; sons and daughters-in-law, Garry and Kearan Dykes, Ronnie and Diane Dykes; grandchildren and spouses, Kim and Dale Davis, Kristie and Michael Berrier, Tina and Danny Galyon, Jeff and Wendy Wolf, Craig Wolf, Kacey and Deven Dykes; great-grandchildren, Dalyn Davis, MaKayla Berrier, Jordan Wolf, Troy Galyon; sisters, Ann Bull, Betty Humphrey and husband, Larry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Gearldene Dykes, James and Blanche Dykes, Howard and Nell Dykes, Carl and Linda Dykes, Jessie and Judy Dykes; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Annie M. Lewis, age 84 of Maryville, died Thursday, January 24, 2002, at Maryville Healthcare Center. She was a member of First Christian Church of Maryville.
Survivors include: brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Nadine Lewis of Maryville; brothers, Charles Lewis of Maryville, and Bill Lewis of St. Louis; nephew, Bobby Lewis and wife Kathy of Maryville; nieces, Cathy Uhl of Florida and Bethany Lewis of Maryville.

Mildred Thompson Russell, age 63 of Maryville, passed away Thursday morning, January 24, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Old Piney Baptist Church. preceded in death by husband, Earl T. Russell; parents, Charles and Ida Thompson; brothers, Harold Dean Thompson, Charles B. Thompson and Lowell Thomas Thompson.

ESTHER TEMPERLY BARKER

Esther Temperly Barker died Monday, January 21, at the age of 91 years. Mrs. Barker was well known in the local community as the author of 'Options for Oldsters, ' a weekly column that appeared in The Daily Times of Maryville/Alcoa, Tennessee. In addition to serving in leadership positions in the United Methodist Women and being a member of Broadway United Methodist Church, Esther was a Christian educator, teacher, speech therapist and writer.
Mrs. Barker received her early education in the schools of Newton, Massachussetts, graduated from State Teacher's College, Framingham, Massachussetts, received the B.R.E. degree from Hartford School of Religious Education, Hartford, Connecticut. She then attended Yale Divinity School in the early 1930's as a member of the first class in which women were admitted. She later received a B.S. degree in library science from East Tennessee State University; M.S. in speech and hearing from the University of Tennessee and had additional studies at Western Carolina University.
As an author, Mrs. Barker wrote several books to assist children needing speech therapy. She also penned two children's books about the early life and lineage of Jesus which were published and distributed by the Upper Room. In addition to children's books, Mrs. Barker wrote five books of various topics ranging from the life of John Wesley to a history of the Barker family. One of Mrs. Barker's most interesting and insightful books, 'Shooting Creek Was Our Parish, ' chronicles the mission work undertaken in a rural Appalachian community by her and her late husband, Rev. Paul A. Barker (deceased, May 21, 1998).
Mrs. Barker was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed. She passed on to be with her husband after spending several years at Asbury Acres Health Care Center, where she was treated by caring staff.
Mrs. Barker's survivors include her daughters and sons-in law, Martha Louise Barker Davidson and John Edwin Davidson of Richmond, Ky., and Ruth Barker Porter and Jack Bennett Porter of Hendersonville, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Anthony Barker, Jr. and Pamela Kay Miller Barker of Madisonville; grandchildren, Mark Davidson of Lexington, KY, Amy Conner and husband Mike of Richmond, KY, David Porter and wife Judy of Springfield, VA, Peter Porter and wife Phyllis of Coarsegold, CA, Sarah Bigelow and husband Jay of Gardnerville, NV, Helen Porter of Fresno, CA, Chris Barker and Allison Barker of Madisonville; great-grandchildren, Hunter Conner of Richmond, KY, Claire Porter and Jesse Porter of Coarsgold, CA, Sandra Porter and Bill Porter of Springfield, VA, and Daniel Bigelow of Garnerville, NV; and her brother, John K. Temperly of Allentown, PA.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 24, at Asbury Acres Retirement Center with the Rev. Robert Hayes officiating. McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the parlor at Asbury Acres Retirement Home. Private interment will be at Highland Memorial cemetery in Knoxville at 2 p.m. Thursday. AMY WALKER GALYON
Amy Walker Galyon, 29, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, January 20, 2002. She is loved by many and will be missed by many. Just six weeks ago, Amy had received Christ as her Savior and was attending Restoration International Outreach. Her quiet spirit is now rejoicing and at peace, which is our comfort at this time. Those meeting Amy in Heaven are her maternal grandparents, Bruce and Margaret Carden; her paternal grandfathers, Robert Sidney Walker and James Roscoe Giffin; her sweet little nephew, Isaac Walker Jackson.
Survivors are her beloved daughter, Sarah Margaret Walker Peck; her loving parents, Robert and Linda Walker of Greenback; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wendy and Sam Jackson of Greenback, Dee Dee and Mark Nicolosi of Franklin, Tammy and Jeff Fleishour of Franklin; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Connie Brown of Texas, Robert and Lea Walker of Lenoir City, Greg and Amy Walker of Seymour, paternal grandmother, Wilma Jean Walker Giffin. Amy will also be missed by many aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
