BIRON W. HOUSEHOLDER
Biron W. Householder, age 45 of Alcoa, passed away quietly Tuesday night, January 29, 2002, at U.T. Medical Center following a car accident on Saturday night. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Householder; his father, Herman Householder; and niece, Carrie Householder.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Judy Householder of Maryville; nephews, Terry and Zach Householder of Maryville and Aaron Householder of Knoxville; uncle and aunt, Glen and Bobbie Householder of Alcoa; aunt, Juanita Lawson of Knoxville; several cousins, local and out of town.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. However, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2505 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN 37803.

JODIE ETHEL `MA-MA' CARTER-DOBSON
Mrs. Jodie Ethel Carter-Dobson (Ma-Ma), age 96 was born July 3, 1905 in Lenoir City, Tennessee to the late Joseph Milton and Lady B. (Eldridge) Carter. She went home to be with the Lord at 6:45 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2002. She was preceded in death by husband, Henry Otha Dobson, Sr.; sons, Henry Otha, Jr. and Paul Alfred; sons-in-law, Joseph D. Watson and James E. Glover, Sr.; grandchildren, James E. Glover, Jr. and Lisa Williams.
She leaves to mourn her passing: three daughters, Thelma M. Watson, Alcoa, TN, Loretta Dobson-Glover, Cleveland, Ohio, Gwendolyn L. Cox, Maryville, TN, Lloyd Cox, Atlanta, GA; one son, very devoted James M. Dobson, Alcoa, TN; daughters-in-laws, Sylvia, Ora Lee and Mesa; 20 grandchildren; 50 great-garndchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren -- representing five generations (of which she was most proud); cousin and sister-in-law, Ruth Henry and Florine Pate.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hackney's Chapel Church in Unitia, TN. Later moving to Alcoa, she joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church. She was a faithful member where she served as secretary of Stewardess Board for over 40 years, until her health failed. Also, she sang in the Gospel choir and helped in any way she could. She was a member of Court of Calanthe (PRIDE OF MARYVILLE #211). She was a retired teacher of Loudon County School System, being a graduate of Rogersville Jr. College and Tennessee A&I State College. She also was a retiree from the Alcoa Community Action Center.
The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2002 (with services to follow) at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 810 N. Hall Road, Alcoa, TN with Rev. George L. Byrd officiating, assisted by other ministers. Interment will be at Hackney's Chapel, Unitia, TN immediately following the service. Friends may call at the family home at 317 E. Edison St., Alcoa, TN. The body may be viewed at Foothills Funeral Home after 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2002. Foothills Funeral Home Maryville in charge.
DOROTHY MARY KIDD
Dorothy Mary Kidd age 90 of Rockford, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 29, 2002 at the family home. She was a member of Central Point Baptist Church and retired from Sears-Roebuck Co. She was also an avid dog lover and loved her dogs, Sam, Flossie & Buddy, dearly. preceded in death by husband, Robert Lee Kidd.
Survivors: Son and daughter in law, Jack and Joan Eschman of Knoxville; Son, Billy Lee Kidd of Maryville; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; dear friends, Cheryl Reneau, DeAnn Moses and Carl Rule all of Maryville.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Chris Cupp officiating. Luther Effler, age 80 of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. preceded in death by: parents, Willie and Claudia Effler; brothers, Wayne and Leonard Effler; sister, Hazel Anthony; son-in-law, Dwight Russell; grandson, Chris Russell.
Survivors include: wife, Reba Huskey Effler; son-in-law and daughter, Walter and Barbara Russell-Jones of Seymour; grandchildren, Shannon and husband Mike Kurowski of Nashville, Jason and wife Kristie Russell of Maryville; great-grandchildren, Kristen Kodic and Jorrie Russell, Alexander and Adriana Kurowski; brothers, Arthur and Floyd Effler; best friends, Carl Graves, Gene Headrick, Blain Dykes, and numerous family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2002 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Eli Henry officiating. Mildred Hawk, age 77, of Rockford, died Monday, January 28, 2002 at the family home.
Survivors include her husband, Ora Weldon Hawk; son and daughter-in-law, James William and Elizabeth Cronic of Amarillo, TX; son, Roy Edward Cronic of Houston, TX; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Tibbs of Lincoln, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Karen Sue and Anthony Brown of Naples, FL; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Chico Limer of El Paso, TX; sister, Mary Aeschleman of Bloomington, IL; brothers-in-law, Johnny Ray Hawk, Richard Dan Hawk, Marshal Curtis Hawk, Thomas Hawk, and Timothy Lee Hawk, all of Bloomington, IL; sister-in-law, Vicki Collins of Bloomington, IL; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

DR. GEORGE M. TOLHURST
George Monroe Tolhurst Jr., MD, age 81 of Cleveland, Georgia, died January 28, 2002, at his home. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, son of George Monroe Tolhurst, MD, and Helen Sperberg Tolhurst. He was the grandson of Rev. Frederick Tolhurst of Bedford, Ohio.
He graduated from Tech High in Atlanta, GA; Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN; Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD; and Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, Calif. He was an active Seventh-day Adventist who helped build the present church building in Cleveland, Georgia.
He practiced medicine in Cleveland, Georgia from 1949 through 1956, served as a medical missionary in Okinawa for five years, returned to his medical practice in Cleveland, GA for 11 more years before becoming the chief of Emergency Medicine at Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory, North Carolina. He also served as a relief interim medical missionary, returning twice to Okinawa and once to the Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in Saigon, Vietnam. He retired from active hospital practice in 1995, and was medical director of several health care facilities in the Hickory area until 1990. He was an avid ham radio operator, call sign W4GOS; traveled extensively; enjoyed music, reading, gardening and woodworking and treasured his beloved Northeast Georgia wooded lake and home.
Survivors include his wife, the former Dolores Allison; son, George Frederick Tolhurst, MD, and wife Jane Travis Tolhurst of Maryville, TN; son, Daniel Tolhurst, DDS, and wife Patricia Turner Tolhurst, DDS, of Bermuda Dunes, CA; daughter, Judith Tolhurst, MD, and husband Jay McArthur of Columbia, SC; son, Mark Dyer and wife Lisa of Hickory, NC; former wife, Ethel Cochran Tolhurst; grandchildren, Nikolee Carisio; Kate and Betsy Tolhurst; George, Nicholas, Suzanne and Tessa McArthur; Trace and Hunter Dyer; sister-in-law, Shirley Powell and husband Jerry; many nieces, nephews and other close relatives; dear friends, colleagues and classmates. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and two sons, Harold and infant James.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 2, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Church Street in Cleveland, Georgia. The family will receive guests at 4 p.m. after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
GENEVIEVE MCMAHAN WEBB
Genevieve McMahan Webb, age 87 died Monday, January 28, 2002 at Asbury Acres Health Care Center. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Townsend. preceded in death by: husband, Preston Setzer Webb; parents, Luther and Callie McMahan; sister, Wilma Crooks.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, John Preston and Linda Webb; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Lynn and William Gordon Emrey, Jr; grandchildren, Shane Webb and wife Tina, Spence Webb and wife Jessica, Zack Webb, William G. Emrey III and wife Lori, John Emrey and wife Angela, Karen Collins and husband Jon; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbur and Velma McMahan of Nashville, TN, Charles and Kathleen McMahan of Jacksonville, FL, Wayne and Ann McMahan of Wichita Falls, TX; sister, Ruth Walker of Maryville, and nieces and nephews.

HAROLD LLOYD CHAMBERS
Harold Lloyd Chambers, age 78 of Sevierville, died Monday, January 28, 2002.
He was born May 5, 1923 to Conley Gordon Chambers and Effie Kerr Chambers in Sevier County, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl Chambers. He was instrumental in forming the congregation of the Church of Christ in Gatlinburg in 1958 and worked diligently in the growth of the congregation over the years. He was retired from the Aluminum Company of America after 40 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II.
Survivors include: loving wife of 55 years, Mae Spurgeon Chambers; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Deanna Chambers, Kyle and Elizabeth Chambers, Chris Chambers and Crissy; grandchildren, Sean Chambers, Amanda Chambers; special brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Allean Huskey, Aubrey Spurgeon; many nieces and nephews.
Harold never met a stranger, was endeared by all who knew him, and was always glad to help anyone in need.
Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Minister Jay Mack officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
FRANCES HARLAND
Frances Harland, age 81 of Walland, died Sunday, January 27, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was of the Methodist faith and she was a retired school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Alger Harland; sisters, Wilma Curry, Bernice Eddy and Grace Trescott.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and RL Tyler, and Anne and David Frazier; grandchildren, Kimberly Frazier, Mindy Nugent and husband, Ron, Kevin Tyler and wife, Melinda; great-grandson, Mason Tyler.
Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at Grandview Mausoleum for graveside service and entombment with Rev. Johnny Mills officiating. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Frances Harland to any favorite charity.

Viola Rider Page, age 96 of Maryville, died Monday, January 28, 2002 at Maryville Health Care Center. She was a member of Centenary Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star - Mountain View Chapter #358.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. O. Page; sons-in-law, Ed Trundle and Roy McMillan.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Tate and Cynthia Page of Broadview, IL and Edgar and Roma Page of Joliet, IL; daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma and Bert Buchanan of Maryville, Mary and Otis Forester of Louisville, Delta and R.
