HERBERT HOUSTON TIPTON WELCH
Herbert Houston Tipton Welch departed his life on Saturday, December 1, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN. He was a World War II Veteran and retired from the ALCOA Aluminum Company after 25 years of service. He was a member of the St. Paul AME Church in Alcoa, Tennessee, a member of the Masonic Lodge 289. His mother and father, Houston Tipton Welch and Susie King Welch, preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Campbell (Vounlee), Maryville, Tennessee and Peggy E. Dodson (Carl) of Kankakee, Illinois; devoted grandsons, Quinn Welch and Barry McCray; granddaughters, Latressa George, Latonya Welch, RieAnna Campbell and Roma Campbell; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 6, 2001 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul AME Church, Alcoa, Tennessee, with service to follow at 12 noon. Interment will be at the Tennessee Veterans cemetery on Lyons View Pike. Rev. George Byrd officiating. Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville in charge of arrangements.

KENNETH BRUCE BRANTON
Kenneth Bruce Branton, age 45, of Decatur, GA, formerly of Walland passed away Sunday, December 2, 2001, at Dekalb Medical Center. He attended and graduated from Hiwassee College and attended East TN State University. preceded in death by father, Roy Clayton Branton, grandparents, Robert Lee Branton and Winnie Pauline Branton, James and Martha Robinson.
Survivors: mother and stepfather, Erma Branton Leach and Shearl Leach of Walland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Helen Branton of Maryville, Arnold and Sherri Branton of Maryville, Paul Branton of Walland; sister and brother-in-law, Jama and Rick Rodefer of Blountville, TN; nieces, Susan Branton Miller, Jessica Roderfer, Amanda Roderfer, Erica Roderfer, Kristina Branton; nephews, Scott Branton, Stuart Branton, Austin Branton, and Eric Miller; great-nieces, Morgan and Kattie Miller; step-sisters, Phyllis Carpenter of Maryville, Kathy Leach of Maryville; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; friends, Kenneth Harrison of GA, Joel and Kathy Darnell of Knoxville.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at Miller Funeral Home (Magnolia Chapel) Rev. Wayne Sexton officiating. Interment service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Cold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

FLORENCE BERTHA DUCKETT
Florence Bertha Duckett, age 92, of Maryville, passed away Monday, December 3, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Heritage Church of God and preceded in death by husband, John T. Duckett and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Doris Duckett of Alcoa; grandchildren, Jan and husband, Glen Dixon of Collierville, TN, and Jeff and wife, Kim Duckett of Maryville; great-grandchildren, Chris Dixon, Jonathan Duckett, Jared Duckett and Jama Duckett; sister, Lola Foster of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Walter Isbill officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment service. Family will receive friends 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

GEORGE HENRY PRICE
George Henry Price, age 80, of Greenback, died Saturday, December 1, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church, was a veteran of World War II and Korea and was retired from TVA.
Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Price; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Anne Price of Charlotte, NC, Tim and Sheryl Price of VA; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Sue and Tony Irvin of Ten Mile, Mary and Mike Brannigan of ID; grandchildren, Christy Price, Caren Price, Janet Price, Robby Price, Kathleen Price, Nathan Irwin, Jared Irwin, Tanner Brannigan, Sean Brannigan, Cheli Price and Terence Price; sister, Naomi Toon of IL; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Darris Doyal officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of George H. OMEDIA WATSON
Omedia Watson, age 79, of Maryville, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, December 2, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Watson; sister, Mary Penrod.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim Allan of Maryville; brothers, Howard Foland of Rockwood and Floyd Foland of Ferndell, Michigan; sisters, Evelyn Lemons of Maryville and Virginia Ladd of Spring City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens cemetery in Surgoinsville, TN with Rev. Dee Hicks officiating. Smith Mortuary, Maryville in charge of arrangements, 865-983-1000

RILEY EARL BURCHFIELD

Riley Earl Burchfield, age 82, of Nashville, formerly of the Happy Valley Community, Tallassee, passed away Saturday morning, December 1, 2001, at Trevecca Health Care Center, Nashville. Graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, an Evangelist, school teacher and builder. Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. preceded in death by parents, William Riley and Mollie Boone Burchfield.
Survivors: wife, Mildred Groves Burchfield of Nashville; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Elizabeth Burchfield, Springfield, Tn., Mark Burchfield and Wanda Vick, Hermitage, Tn., Jonathan Burchfield, Nashville, Benji Burchfield, Nashville; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Marcus Van Ameringen, Marietta, Ga.; four grandchildren; brothers, Dr. David Ellwood, Bill Ellwood, both of Indiana; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2001, Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Beecher Whitehead, Rev. Jesse Middendorf officiating. Family and friends will meet at Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Church cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday for the interment service. ROBERT WINDSOR CULVEYHOUSE
Robert Windsor Culveyhouse passed away Friday, November 30, 2001. He was a member of Maryville First Baptist Church. He graduated from Maryville High School and attended Maryville College. He was employed by ALCOA for 43 years and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a 50 year member of New Providence Lodge. He was an avid UT football fan and Lady Vols basketball fan. In earlier years he enjoyed camping and hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains. He was preceded in death by: first wife, Marion Culveyhouse; mother and father, James L. and Fannie Franklin Culveyhouse; grandfather, Robert Hanks Edington; sisters, Maggie and Ethel Culveyhouse, Mayme Raulston, Willie Mae Harris, Mable Floyd, Bertha Bivens, Frances Driver and Grace Lane; brothers, Arthur and Pharis Culveyhouse; nieces, Mary Shields, Jerry Norton, and Wilma Rose; nephews, W.B. Bivens, Paul Floyd and Harry Harris.
Survivors include: wife, Zelda Church Culveyhouse; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charlie Rogers; sister-in-law, Velma Church of Knoxville; nieces, Eloise Prater and Frances Bivens; nephews, Ullin Bivens of Georgia and Tommy Harris of Florida; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2001, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview cemetery for the interment. CODY DEAN
Cody Dean, age 57, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2001 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol L. Dean; his sister, Mary E. Scott of Georgetown, Delaware; his special caregiver and step-son, Kevin Paul; his step-daughters, Amber and Adrienne; and his special friend, Robbie Dykes.
Funeral mass will be held at Highland West Funeral Home Chapel (Christ Our King Catholic Charismatic Church) on Monday, December 3, at 7:00 p.m., with celebrant the Rev. Fr. David Francis Fair officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be given to the Blount Memorial Hospice Mercy Fund, 1095 E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Maryville, TN 37804. ROSCOE LINTON KERR
Roscoe Linton Kerr, age 89, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2001, at the family home. He was a member of Carpenters United Methodist Church, retired from ALCOA and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Club. He was preceded in death by parents, Blev and Laura Feezell Kerr; brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Kerr; sisters, Florine and Iva Kerr; son, Harold Kerr; grandsons, Randy and Jason Boone.
Survivors include: wife of 49 years, Helen Spence Kerr; children, Carol Morris, Linda and Paul Boone, Pat and David Raulston, Wesley and Tina Kerr all of Maryville; Linton (Lynn) and Missy Kerr of Kingsport; grandchildren, Phyliss and Lester Headrick, Tammy Bales, Jeff Boone, Lori Sikes, Beth Pyle, Scott and Nathan Raulston, Justin and Travis Kerr, Joshua Kerr; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lela Kerr; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2001, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Rev. Louis Hill and Rev. Wallace Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carpenters Campground cemetery for the interment. JOSEPH `JOE' HUGH LAUNDRA
Joseph (Joe) Hugh Laundra, age 58, of Maryville, died Saturday afternoon, December 1, 2001, at U.T. Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was a Journeyman Electrician for thirty-eight years, and a member of the IBEW Local 557 in Saginaw, MI. He was co-owner of the Back Porch Restaurant in Townsend. He was preceded in death by parents, Hugh Moise and Hildegarde Laundra; sister, Rita Woods.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Laundra; children, Cathy Jo Bilinski, Michael Laundra and Troy Laundra all of Michigan, Dr. Kenneth Laundra of Utah; ten grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Rod Gorski; sister, Theo Ann Laundra, all of Townsend; brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Rita Laundra of Georgia; several nieces and nephews.
Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home with Father Joseph Julius officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Rosey Wilson Sharp, 99, of Loudon, died 12:25 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Maryville Health Care Center. Mrs. Sharp was born June 30, 1902, in Union Co., Tn. She was a member of Cornith Baptist Church. preceded in death by husband, Miller Lee Sharp; parents, Wayne and Carley Wilson Sharp; son, C.P. Sharp; daughter, Vonette Bright.
Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Elmer Sharp and Lois of Knoxville; Troy Sharp and Marsha of Friendsville, Mrs. Minnie Belle Sharp of Loudon; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Nora Widner of Knoxville.

LEE ANN TYREE
Lee Ann Tyree, age 31, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Maryville Church of Christ. preceded in death by father, James Anderson.
Survivors include: daughters, Brittany Anderson and Brianna Tyree, both of Maryville; grandson, James Anderson; mother, Margaret Anderson of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, George and Margaret Anderson of Luttrell; niece, Alyssa Daigle of Luttrell.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2001, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Minister Mike Brumley officiating. Interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2001 and from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2001, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.
