Tom S. Rule, age 66 of Kodak, died Monday, December 17, 2001, at Ft. Sanders Sevier Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, W.H. and Maude Rule; uncles, Sam Rule, Bill Rule, Frank Rule and M.C. Rule; aunts, Mildred Wilburn, Margaret Pennington and Claire Sharpe.
Survivors include his mother, Lillian Pearl Rule of Kodak; aunts, Beulah Rule of Nebraska and Lynn Newman of Etowah.

Joyce Anna Weeks, age 72 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday morning, December 18, 2001 at the family home. She attended Zion Chapel Baptist Church in Louisville and retired from Schlegel's.

Buchholz of St. Charles, MO; sister of Gary Adams of Maryville; mother-in-law of Radford Fountain of Clark, MO; and Diana Buchholz of St. Charles, MO; grandmother of Charles R. and Lucy Fountain of Clark, MO, and Nicholas Matheny and Gregory Matheny of St. Charles, MO. JOHN THOMAS ALLEY JR.
John Thomas Alley Jr., age 77, of Alcoa, died Sunday, December 9, 2001, at U.T. Medical Center. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church where he served the Vestry, graduated from Auburn University in 1947, served in the Military from 1942 to 1965 with the Army Air Force and Air National Guard during World War II and Korea. He was discharged with the rank of Major and received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, GO 114/53, Hq 5th AF and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Alley retired from ALCOA as a Mechanical Engineer with 41 years of service and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. He was a member of Kiwanis, the East Tennessee Woodcarvers Association, the Tennessee Ornithological Society and was a volunteer at the U.T. Medical Center on the Cardiac Floor. He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Alley Sr. and Annie Lynn Alley.
Survivors include: wife, June Alley; former spouse, Jeanne Alley; children, Mike Alley, Carolyn Alley, Claire Alley, Joel Alley and wife, Ellen, Tom Alley and wife, Melissa, Pat Alley and wife, Kelly; stepchildren and spouses, Lisa and Ed Shouse, Dan and Jackie Gray; grandchildren, Benji, Ryan, Colleen, Misty, Scott, Jonathan, Patricia, Lauren, Haley and Joseph; cousins, Richard and Pegge Compton, Noble and Renis Jones, Bette Ann Moore and Victor and Kathleen Harrell.

JAMES ALEXANDER `JIM' GRIFFITTS
James Alexander (Jim) Griffitts, age 60, of 104 Gun Ridge Road, Vonore, passed away 1:23 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at his home. Retired from ALCOA and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors: daughter, Andrea Leigh Griffitts, Alcoa; son and daughter-in-law, William (Billy) and Angela Michele (Angie) Griffitts, Madisonville; sisters, Wanda Delores Lunsford, Maryville, Gwen Johnson, Frederick, MD; several nieces and nephews. preceded in death by parents, Jess and Esma Griffitts; grandparents, George and Hyla Rasor Griffitts, William and Mary Hodge Wells.

MARVIN WAYNE HILL
Marvin Wayne Hill, age 56, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001 at U.T. Hospital. He was born in Alcoa, TN to the late Essie B. Smith and J.C. McKinney. Marvin served in the United States Army and was employed at ALCOA, Inc. for 25 years. He was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Alcoa. He was preceded in death by parents, Essie B. Smith and J.C. McKinney; grandparents, Elzie and Thurzie Hill; brother, Bary E. Lawrence.
He leaves to cherish his memories: children, Stephanie D. Hill and Marvin W. Hill Jr. of Alcoa; brothers, James T. (Alice) Lawrence of California, Curtis S. Lawrence of Knoxville, Paul H. (Tanya) Smith of Maryville; sisters, Audrey L. Lawrence of Maryville, Carla D. Stacy and Janie A. Wine of Knoxville; stepfather, Joe H. Smith of Maryville; 5 grandchildren; 4 aunts; and 1 uncle; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

William M. 'Bill' Hitson, age 88, of Maryville, died Monday, December 10, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Hitson; son, Raymond Hitson; grandson, Ricky Hitson; parents, Rev. and Mrs. G.C. Hitson; brothers, Eugene Hitson, Keith Hitson and Winfred Hitson.

Joseph (Joe) Arnott
Joseph (Joe) Arnott, 90, of Mt. Carmel, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 2, 2001 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a veteran of WWII and retired from Tennessee Eastman after 42 years of service. Joe was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was an avid sports fan. preceded in death by father and mother, John James and Helen Mandola Arnott, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Afton C. and Nell Arnott, Julian M. and Edith Arnott; great-niece, Debbie Monroe.
Survived by wife, Lois Arnott, Mt. Carmel; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Jerry Cox, Mt. Carmel; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Donna Arnott, Maryville, TN; 3 grandchildren, Melanie Arnott, Sherry Cox Burchette and husband Steven, Ben Arnott; sister and brother-in-law, Athalee and O.M. Barbara H. O'Neal, age 70, of Alcoa, died Friday, December 7, 2001, at her home. She was a member of Maryville Church of Christ. preceded in death by Dr. and Mrs. Frank Hobbs; sister, Mary Frank Ridenour.

Otha Lee Wilburn, age 85, of Maryville, died Saturday, December 8, 2001, at his home. He was a member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church, served United States Army during World War II in North Africa and Sicily where he was awarded the Purple Heart. preceded in death by his wife: Rose M. Wilburn; parents, Wright and Texas Wilburn; brothers, Howard, Homer, Paul and John Wilburn; sisters, Pearl Vaughn, Hazel Crowe and Grace Burchfield.

Carl H. Vaughn, age 87, of Alcoa, passed away Saturday morning, December 8, 2001, at the family home. He was of the Baptist Faith and retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 year club. preceded in death by wife, Bonnie Vaughn, and parents, Lee and Mary Vaughn.

Kenneth Eugene Carrigan, age 87, of Alcoa, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2001, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Alcoa First Baptist Church and was former manager of White Stores, Dixie Supermarket and Super Saver. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Tobler.
Survivors include: wife of 65 years, Ella Mae Carrigan; children and spouses, Don and Doris Carrigan of Walland, Dean and Jane Carrigan of Arkansas, Mary Lou and Donald Hunter of Georgia, Danny and Beverly Carrigan of Walland, Janice and Larry Godfrey of Maryville and Robin Leonard of Alcoa; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
