MARY JANE KREGER FAIN
Mary Jane Kreger Fain, age 75 of Knoxville, TN, died Sunday, September 30, 2001, at Morningside Villas in Knoxville, TN. She had lived there for the past year. She was a life long resident of Bluff City, TN. Mrs. Fain was a member of Bluff City United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA and Steed College of Technology in Johnson City, TN. She attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She worked as a senior secretary with the Ratheon Company in Bristol, TN. Prior to her retirement she worked for SABH water heater manufacturing company in Johnson City, TN.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, L.L. Kreger and Emma Eads Kreger, and her sister, Emma Louise Kreger Mullins.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Worley Fain III and Beth Proffitt Fain of Maryville, TN; two granddaughters, Dr. Carrie Fain Talley and Lelia Proffitt Fain, both of Maryville, TN; one brother-in-law, Dr. Spencer Grady Mullins, Marietta, GA; three nieces, Cathy Mullins, Mary Mullins Tripp, and Anne Mullins Rigdon, all of Marietta, GA; two nephews, Joe Mullins, Inman, SC and Spencer Grady Mullins III, Marietta, GA.
Funeral Service for Mary Jane Kreger Fain, 75, who died Sunday, September 30, 2001 will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bluff City United Methodist Church in Bluff City, TN with Rev. Karen Albers officiating. Interment will follow in Shelby Hills Cemetery, Bristol, TN. Active pallbearers will be Josh Talley, John Berry, Joe Williams, Harvey Carrier, Mike Miller and Herman Carrier.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. CURTIS F. GREEN
Curtis F. Green, age 85 of Cumberland Gap, TN, passed away Saturday evening, September 29, 2001 at U.T. Medical Center. He attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN, teacher and former principal of schools in Blount County and retired training director of Macon, Georgia. preceded in death by parents, Nathaniel Harris and Flora Mae Green; several brothers and sisters and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Bertha Jenkins.
Survivors: wife, Minnie Jenkins Green; son and daughter-in-law, James Larry and Joy Green of Claxton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Julia Green and William S. Selman of Ft. Valley, GA; grandchildren, Tammy Green Veinot, Nathaniel Curtis Green, Emily Laurel Green, Allison Selman Grant, Sidney Anne Selman, and William Gunner Selman; 4 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, John Howell and Lois Green of Harrogate, TN; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Hoyle Myers of Maryville, TN; several nieces and nephews.

CHARLES ARTHUR HARMON, JR.
Charles Arthur Harmon, Jr., age 75 of Maryville, died Monday, October 1, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Maryville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, was retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 Year Service Club, was past president of Alcoa Credit Union and was an avid golfer and enjoyed wood working.
Mr. Harmon was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Harmon; sisters, Ruby Hall, Margaret Wilkerson and Mildred Millsaps; brother, Howard Harmon.
Survivors include: wife, Joan Harmon; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Debbie Harmon of Louisville, Jeff and Brenda Harmon, Tim and Pat Harmon all of Maryville; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Billie Jo Harmon Smith and husband Court of Texas, Tina Harmon Hicks of Maryville; mother-in-law, Ruth Russell of Maryville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rowena and Ralph Broyles of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald L. Longmire officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Grandview Mausoleum for the entombment service.

DR. JOHN A. YARBOROUGH
Dr. John A. Yarborough, age 82, a general and thoracic surgeon in Maryville for 46 years, died Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was married
to the late Marshall Page Yarborough for 57 years. She preceded him in death in January 2001.
Dr. Yarborough was a former chief of staff and chief of surgery at Blount Memorial Hospital, and served a term as president of the Knoxville Area Surgical Society. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Blount Memorial Hospital Foundation in 1998. Born in Wake Forest, North Carolina, he was raised in Gary, NC. He graduated from Duke University in Durham, NC in 1941 and from Duke Medical School in 1944. Dr. Yarborough served in the Pacific as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Corp. during World War II. He received thoracic surgery training at the University of Southern California and completed his residency at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. A life-long supporter of Duke University, Dr. Yarborough was one of the founders of the Davison Club, a society that supports Duke Medical Center, and was president of the Duke Medical Alumni Association from 1967-68. In 1972, he served as chairman of the Duke University National Council. He was one of the first members of the Iron Dukes, a society that supports Duke athletics. He also served on the Duke University Athletic Council, and received the Charles A. Duke Award for outstanding service in alumni affairs in 1994. In addition to his wife, his younger brother, Graham, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Emily Yarborough of Maryville and Mike Yarborough and Kathy Sanzo of Silver Spring, MD; daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Bill Herndon of Atlanta, GA and Ginger and Dr. Stuart Garner of Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren include: Page and Jay Yarborough of Maryville, Tom, David and Kate Garner of Charlotte, Allison, Patrick and Caroline Yarborough of Silver Spring; sister-in-law, Florence Yarborough of Hampton, VA; sisters-in-law and spouses, Mary P. and Jim Peterson of McLean, VA and Elizabeth P. and Bill Wardle of Punta Gorda, Fl; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2001 at New Providence Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Emily Anderson officiating. Ella Mae Atchley, age 84 of Greenback passed away Saturday, September 29, 2001 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Simeon Doyle Atchley; son, Willard Atchley; daughter, Wilma Ford; and granddaughter, Kimberly Diane Tindell; several sisters and brothers.

William Ray Russell age 76 of Alcoa died Friday September 28, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Naomi J. Russell; daughter and son-in-law, Becky J. and Eric Bennett of Nashville, Cindy R. and George B. Province of Maryville. Grandchildren Jason N. Sorensen of Cookeville, Jennifer L. Jeffries of Nashville, Hope S. and Jeremi Taylor of Maryville, Paige P. and Kevin Metcalf of Greeneville and Ashley D. Province of Greeneville; great-grandchild Sadie R. Taylor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Melba and Fred Hughes, and Ivalee and Dan Webb, all of Maryville, several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 8:00 p.m. Sunday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Frank Snavely officiating. Roy G. Ruszkowski age 87 of Louisville, died Friday, September 28, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include: wife, Bonnie T. Myers Ruszkowski; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Gerhard Hartung of Elmhurst, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Roy Edward and Karen Ruszkowski of Hewitt, NJ; grandchildren, Jennifer Trager and husband Richard of Midland, MI, Geraldine Rogers and husband Russell of Sessex, NJ, and Andrew Hartung and wife Sandy of Avon by the Sea, NJ; great-grandchildren, Erika and Emma Trager, Julia Jean Rogers, Dawson Hartung, Christina Laver; brother, Leon Ruszkowski of Madisonville, KY.

ELIZABETH SNEED SHUE
Elizabeth Sneed Shue, age 83 of Walland died Thursday, September 27, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a teacher and psychologist who spent her career in Baltimore Public Schools in Maryland. She specialized in the study and remediation of children with reading difficulties and spent a year in England conferring with the leading psychologists studying Dyslexia. She received her education at Knoxville High School, Maryville College, and Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. Having been brought up in the rural area of South Knoxville, she became interested in the genealogy of the McCammon Families in the area. In 1980 she finished an update of Nellie Pickens Anderson's book The Pickens Family. The book was followed in 1991 by The Snead Notebook, which is the genealogy of the Snead Families of Virginia and Alabama. In 1982 she and her husband, Lloyd C. Shue, retired to their home 'Pinedean' in Walland, TN. She participated in the handicrafts of weaving and lace making. She was a founding member of The Writers Association of Blount County.
She is survived by, husband, Lloyd C. Shue of Walland; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy S. and Dale Ferguson of Rochester, NH; son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Lynne Shue of Baltimore, MD; grandsons, Alexander Ferguson and Andrew L. Shue; mother (age 104) Nancy Winkle Snead; brothers, Graham A. Snead of Birmingham, AL, Judson A. Snead of Commerce, GA; sisters, Rachel Hunt of Decatur, AL, Mary Esther Parker of Tampa, FL. Floyd Thomas Burns Sr.
Floyd Thomas Burns Sr., age 77 of Maryville, died Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at his home. He was an active member of Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church, where he held many church offices over 50 years of membership. He has given many hours of his time to care for the church and parsonage buildings. The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Burns was the first formal wedding to take place in the new Logan's Church building. He graduated from Townsend High School in the Class of 1942, was retired from the Aluminum Company of America Electrical Department where he was a trainer of electrical apprentices. Mr. Burns was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club and was an avid gardener and sportsman with a special love for fishing.
He was the son of the late John S. and Bertha Burns of Townsend, TN.
He was the beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his survivors which include: his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Waters Burns; children, Jane and David Doan of Blountville, TN, John and Susan Burns of Townsend, TN, Becky and Paul DePrator of Strongsville, Ohio, Floyd Thomas Jr. and Nancy Burns of Chattanooga, TN, and Robert Burns of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Lori and Adam Hitch, Elizabeth Doan, Lucinda and Nathaniel Allin, Holly Burns, Alisa Doan, Deborah Doan, David Bruce Doan, III and Rebekah Megan Burns; stepgrandchildren, Jenise Greene, Doreen and Ed Zimmer, Kellie Dickson, Tiffany and Bill Bright and Derek DePrator; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Addison Hitch, Destiny, Noah and Olivia Zimmer, Schuyler Dickson and Ryan Bright; sister, Edith Pierce of Townsend, TN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Grace Waters of Maryville, TN; sisters-in-law, Ruby Burns of Ventura, CA, Edith Burns of Townsend, TN and Mary Sue Thames of Maryville, TN; several nieces and nephews.

Sam Huskey
Sam Huskey, age 83 of Walland died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2001, at Baptist Hospital. He was a member and deacon of East Walland Baptist Church. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. and a member of their 25-Year Club. He was a Veteran of World War II with 4 years of service.
Preceded in death by: father and mother, Alex and Allie (Whitehead) Huskey; brothers, Raymond and Luke Huskey; sisters, Maude Cagle and Katherine Moore; in-laws, Frank and Bell Gredig.
Survivors include wife of 59 years, Maggie Gredig Huskey; sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Pam Huskey of Tallassee, David and Glyneva Huskey of Maryville, Bill and Judy Huskey of Maryville; son, Steve Huskey of Walland; daughters, Mary Lynn and Pat Huskey of Walland; grandsons, Mark, Scott, Marshall, Jesse and Doug; granddaughter, Shellie; great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Chaning; brother, Doyle Huskey of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.

Clara P. Blair, age 68 of Maryville passed away Monday morning, September 24, 2001, at the family home. She was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by son, Phillip Dale Mock.
