CHARLES LOUIS HOCK
Charles Louis Hock, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Morningview Transitional Care. He was born in Baltimore, MD, November 29, 1925. When he was 16 months old, his family returned to New Orleans, which was their home. He was active in the Boy Scouts and received the rank of Eagle. When he was 16, they returned to Baltimore, where his dad was Plant Manager for U.S. Industrial Chemical Company.
He joined the Army Air Corps Cadets and when the war ended, he came home and enrolled at Johns Hopkins University where he graduated in 1949 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He came to work for ALCOA, met and married
Henrietta Farley in 1951. He was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for over 50 years. He was an avid sailor and he and his beloved wife sailed Ft. Loudon Lake for over 40 summers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Ethelyn Hock; and sister, Lynn Hock.
He is survived by wife, Henrietta; daughters, Suzy (Don) MacMorris, Elizabeth City, NC and Sally (Steve) Brooks, Crestwood, KY. His grandchildren are, Gwyneth MacMorris, Lacey Brooks, and Collin Brooks.
A private burial will be held, followed by a memorial service at St. Andrew's on Saturday, August 12, at 3:00 p.m. with The Rev. Martha Sterne and The Rev. Eugene Haws officiating. A reception will be held following the service in the Great Hall of the Church.

DORTHA J. TAYLOR
Dortha J. Taylor, age 69, of Susan Street, New Martinsville, WV, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at home.
She was born September 9, 1936 in Greenback, TN, the daughter of Helen Hall Henderson of Maryville, TN and the late Ed Henderson.
She was a retired administrative assistant for Dr. Don E. Earley of New Martinsville.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred 'Buck' Henderson.
Survivors include her mother; her husband, Darrell Taylor; three aunts, Edna Lawson and Edith Holsonback, both of New Martinsville, and Betty Carroll of Greenback, TN; an uncle, Parks Hall of New Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later time.

Jean Dean McGhee, 53, of Alcoa, TN, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Hillcrest West Nursing Home.
Preceded in death by parents, Arvesta and Virginia Dean; brothers, Curtis and David Dean.
Survivors, children, Manuel and Bryan Hudson; daughters, Grace and Faith McGhee; five brothers; six sisters, five grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Jack R. Tarwater, age 72 of Knoxville went home to be with Jesus, Sunday, August 6, 2006 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. Member of Lonsdale United Methodist Church. Preceeded in death by: parents: Fred and Evangeline Tarwater; brother: Joe Tarwater and daughter: Jacqueline Tarwater. STYLES, JOANN, 71, Sevierville, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006.

HALLIE `MRS. B.' BURCHFIELD ATCHLEY
Hallie Burchfield Atchley (Mrs. B.), age 95 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006, at the home. She was retired from Byrne Drug Store and attended Grandview Baptist Church. preceded in death by parents, James and Julie Fox; first husband, Bueford Burchfield; second husband, Buford Atchley; grandson, Terry Burchfield; sister, Esta Thomas.
Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Rex and Shirley Burchfield; granddaughter and husband, Amy and Tom Kohntopp; nieces and nephews.

MARY LOUISE EVERETT
Mary Louise Everett, of Maryville, went to be with the lord on Friday, August 4, 2005, at Ft Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gordon Townsend. She leaves behind her parents, Glenda Ruth Russell and Michael Morgan Everett; grandparents, Shirley and Harold Hartness of Knoxville, Mike Everett of Maryville, Shelia and Mike McMillan of Friendsville; Also a host of other family members and friends. Family and friends will assemble at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at Grandview cemetery for a graveside service with the Rev. Martha Sterne officiating. Smith Mortuary, Maryville.
GUY PIERCY JR.
Guy Piercy Jr., age 63, of Farragut, formerly of Atlanta, Ga., died Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville after a valiant battle with cancer. Guy was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Radio and Television Journalism program. Guy was a Vietnam veteran who served with the U.S. Army 525th Military Intelligence Unit stationed in Vietnam during 1968 and 1969. He was a producer/director with Georgia Public Television for 20 years.
Guy had a deep passion for projects, using both technical skill and his heart in telling the stories so important to him. The audience, in turn, experienced the love and care Guy gave to his work. His television credits include: The Georgia Special Olympics, Lawmakers, Down Home Blues, Foxfire, and Georgia Outdoors. Guy received Emmy awards for outstanding achievement for his work on the magazine program Georgia Digest and the documentary film 'On LeConte at 92." He was a member of the American Motors Owners Association.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Piercy Sr.; brother, David M. Piercy; stepfather, William Brogan. Survivors: wife of 25 years, Mary E. (Fran) Piercy; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher D. and Kimberly A. Piercy; two grandsons, T. Alexander Piercy (7) and Ethan S. Piercy (4), all of Marietta, Ga.; mother, Georgia Clabough Piercy of Knoxville; nephew, Colin Piercy; grand-niece, Brittany Piercy, both of Oak Ridge; beloved pets, Cosmo and Calamity. James Elmer Akins, age 73, of Maryville, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at his home. He was of the Baptist faith. Elmer was an farmer and former employee of Craig's Quarry. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and collector of arrowheads. preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Lydia Akins; sisters, Hazel Akins, Pauline Selvidge and Inez Breeden; and brothers, Bill Akins and Virgil Akins. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Headrick Akins; daughter, Shirley Webber and husband, Jeff, of Maryville; son, James Akins and wife, Denise, of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Trish Myers, of Greenback, Janie Spivey, of N.C., Shirley (Coco) Ladd, of N.C., Kelly Harris and Stevie Brown, both of Lenoir City; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Akins and wife, Alice, of Sweetwater, John Akins, of Maryville, and Charles Akins, of Lenoir City; sister, Arizona Selvidge and husband, Earl, of Loudon; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Scottie Long and Buddy Maxwell and several other special friends and neighbors. Faye Bryant, age 76, of Maryville, passed away Aug. 4, 2006, at her home. She was a member of Nelson Chapel Church of Christ. preceded in death by William Edward and Nova Oswalt Moore, brothers, Leonard and Moselle Moore. She was a loving wife and mother to her husband of 57 years, Fred Franklin Bryant Sr., Maryville; daughter, Joyce Faye Lear (Jim), Plymouth, Mich.; son, Fred Franklin Bryant Jr. (Marlene), Rincon, Ga.; daughter, Pamela Irene Borovy (Mark), Maryville; grandchildren, Bradley James Lear (Lindy), Westland, Mich.; Jeffrey Shannon Lear, Chicago, Ill.; Jason Robert Bryant (Meagan), Lansing, Mich.; Wayne Franklin Borovy, Maryville; Joseph Alan Borovy, Maryville; sister, Clarice Duke, Eupora, Miss. MICHAEL PLEAS HENRY
Michael Pleas Henry was born in Maryville on Aug. 10, 1953. He died at Tim's Ford State Park on Aug. 3, 2006, after delivering a boat for his business. He was predeceased by: father, Harold Wilkinson Henry; grandparents, Oscar Pleas and Carrie Wilkinson Henry, Maryville, and Samuel Parker and Virginia Whicker Mounce, Ohio; step-father, Leo R. Caldwell; father-in-law, John ("Tudor") Boyd, Oak Ridge; uncle, Earl Winston Henry, Maryville.
Survivors include: wife, Karen Boyd Henry, and son, Michael Boyd Henry, Maryville; mother, Zurma Henry Caldwell; sisters, Patricia H. Reeves (Larry), Maryville, Diana Swann Combs (Doug), Oklahoma City, Okla., and Phyllis H. Strange (Richard), Knoxville; brother, LTC Bruce E. Henry (fiancé, Robin Bolton), Maryville; step-brother, Bob Caldwell (Nan), San Jose, Ca.; mother-in-law, Emma Boyd; sister-in-law, Janet Hill (Charlie), Knoxville; many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.
Mike was a United States Coast Guard licensed "Captain" Master and was known to many as "Cap'n Mike." He owned and operated his business, Marine Contractors, Inc. He was a marine surveyor and specialized in the complete restoration of boats and in transporting boats by land or sea. He was also a licensed electrician. Mike always strove for perfection. He was a member of Pecks Memorial Methodist Church, the church attended by his ancestors for generations. Mike was so loved by all of his family and friends. He loved life! He had enormous enthusiasm for his work and in his personal life. That infectious joy will be missed by so many.

GWEN MARIE MCCULLOUGH
Gwen Marie McCullough, born Dec. 22, 1932, in Arp, Texas, passed away July 22, 2006, at home in Bandera, Texas. Beloved of her family, she is survived by two daughters, Sherry R. McCullough, of Arlington, Texas, and Pamela A. McCullough, of Maryville; two grandsons, Daniel T. Charpentier, of Moses Lake, Wash. and Samuel A. McCullough, of Maryville; great-granddaughter, Delilah Grace Charpentier; sister Virginia Philpot, of Hayward, Ca.; and John Hensal of Hemphill, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Previous nurse, secretary, excellent cook, incredible dancer and world traveler as an Air Force wife, she will always be remembered as a caring and loving mother and compassionate friend. In hope to find a cure for cancer, Ms. McCullough donated her body to science and in lieu of flowers or contributions, we ask that you do something special for a friend in the near future.
