ELMER LEA KELLER
Elmer Lea Keller, 78, of Oak Ridge died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at his home. He was born June 15, 1928 in Alcoa. Mr. Keller graduated from Maryville College in 1951. He later did graduate work in chemistry and management at UT. He worked in Oak Ridge first at ORIONS Medical Division and worked there until 1956. During work as a research assistant there, he was responsible for preparing radioactively labeled medications for cancer patients and monitoring the patients for distribution and effect. In 1956, he joined the AEC, a predecessor agency of DOE. At the AEC, he rose to a division director involved in plant operations, research and development and operations analysis. During his work with the AEC and later DOE, Mr. Keller had a variety of management tasks, including managing the Feed Materials Processing Center at Fernald, Ohio and Ashtabela, Ohio. He also managed Boron-10 Separation Facilities at Model City, NY and Quapaw, OK. Mr. Keller also managed a nationwide program to recover Uranium from manufacturing scrap. This program was the formerly utilized sites Remedial Action Program (Fusrap). Later Mr. Keller managed the Materials Management Effort of ORO as well as Nuclear Materials Control and Classification.
Mr. Keller held membership in several professional organizations, including American Chemical Society, American Nuclear Society and American Management Association. He was named a member of Who's Who in Federal Service in the 1980's.
He received numerous performance awards and was named his agency's nominee for Outstanding Employee. He resigned from DOE in May of 1986.
Mr. Keller was a long time member of the Robertsville Baptist Church, serving first as Music Director beginning in the 1950's and then as chairman of the deacons, chairman of the trustees, chairman of two building programs, Sunday School teacher and member of various committees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Alma Berlin Messer Keller, Blount County natives. He was married
to Wanda C. Keller from 1948 to 1993 and Helen C. Keller from 1994 to 1999, both preceded him in death. He married
Elizabeth (Betty) DeLozier in 2001. Brothers: William C. and Clinton O. Keller, both of Alcoa; and sister, Charlotte Snell of Charlotte, NC also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters: Karen K. Bush and husband, Phil of LaVergne, Janet K. Jordan and husband, Joel, of Franklin and Nancy K. Feist and husband, Rich, of Oak Ridge; two step-children: Rhetta Fisher of Clinton and Tony Fisher and wife, Angie, of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren: Janelle Adams of Franklin, and Anthony Brown and wife, Ginette, of San Antonio, TX, Jon Chaney of Murfreesboro, Karli Bush of LaVergne, Sarah Gardner and husband, Buddy, of Knoxville, Rachel Rankin and husband, Damien, and Bethany Crabtree and husband, Rush, of Oak Ridge; and two step-grandchildren: Jade and Caina Fisher of Chattanooga; six great-grandchildren: Jordan, Andrew and Christopher Adams of Franklin, Summer Clark and Rush Crabtree of Oak Ridge and Jaeden Bush of LaVergne; brothers: Robert of East Greenville, PA, Donald of Allentown, PA, and Kenneth of Alcoa; sisters: Jean Clifton and Joyce Holley of Montgomery, AL.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Robertsville Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Prince officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Robertsville Baptist Church, Moving Forward Fund, 251 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or Foundation Fighting Blindness, Retinis Pigmentosa Research. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the church from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Weatherford Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
LEE MAX `BUD' LAWSON
Lee Max 'Bud' Lawson, age 71 of Maryville passed away July 3, 2006.
He was a brick mason for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alford and Mary Potter Lawson; sisters: Edna Garland and Helen Lawson; brothers: Donald and Billy Lawson. Survivors include his ex-wife, Jeanette Owens; stepsons: James Owens III and Roger Owens; grandsons: Daniel and Roger Owens; granddaughter: Jenny Owens; brothers and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Betty Lawson, and Gordon and Reba Lawson; sisters and brother-in-law: Reba and Andy Reagan, and Beatrice Campbell; several nieces and nephews. Bobby Gene Linder, 2309 Linden Avenue, born June 2, 1931 went to eternal rest Thursday, June 29, 2006. preceded in death by: daughter, Jennifer Grace; parents, Floyd and Annie Linder; sister, Dorothy Mapp; brothers, Floyd Jr., James, and Elmer Linder; grandson, DaSean Garner. He attended school in Knoxville, TN, where he graduated from Austin High School, class of 1952. He served in the United States Army during WWII and Korean wars. He was also a diligent employee with the Alcoa Aluminum Company for 27 years. He was a faithful member at Cherry Street Church of God. He is survived by: devoted wife of 52 years, Gay Ann Linder; sons, Rev. William Boyd (Bill) Rogers, 63, of Knoxville passed away Sunday, July 2, 2006. He was a member of Seymour Masonic Lodge # 338 and retired from Briggs Industries.
Preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Rogers.

MICHELLE DENISE PURKEY SMITH
Michelle Denise Purkey Smith, age 32 of Louisville died June 30, 2006. She is preceded in death by her mother: Cindy (Shumate-Purkey) Johnson; half-sister: Lisa Johnson; grandparents: Marvin and Gladys Purkey, and Robert and Faye Shumate; father-in-law: Robert L. Smith. Survivors include her husband: Robert Andre Smith; father: Dennis Purkey; children: Chad, Tre, and Skylar Smith; brother: Little Dennis Purkey; mother-in-law: Gladys Smith; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. HUGH M. CALLOWAY SR.
Hugh M. Calloway Sr., age 82, founder of Calloway Oil Company and E-Z Stop Foodmarts Inc., died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Blount Memorial Hospital. A native of Lenoir City and graduate of Lenoir City High School, he was a Navy pilot in World War II. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1947 and was a life-long fan of UT football and basketball. Mr. Calloway worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 10 years in Kansas, Oklahoma and Georgia before returning to East Tennessee to start his own business in Blount County.
Mr. Calloway was a life member of the Maryville Kiwanis Club, served as President of the Tennessee Oil Marketer's Association, served on the Board of Directors for the former Bank of Maryville and First Tennessee Bank, was a member of the Maryville Regional Planning Commission, and served as Chairman of the Zoning Commission Board of Appeals. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville, serving in many capacities. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Holston Conference Colleges as well as the Executive Committee of Hiwassee College.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Edgar Roger and Annie Rebecca Foster Calloway; brothers, Edgar, Foster and Tom Calloway; and grandson, Michael Martin Johnson.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Helen Mills Calloway, of Maryville; daughters, Janis Calloway, of Maryville, Jean Stinson and husband, Richard, of Houston, Texas, Carol Hunt and husband, Tommy, of Maryville; and son, Hugh M. (Marty) and wife, Kellie, of Maryville. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Cathy, Sally and Mary Beth Stinson, of Houston, Texas, Julia, Emily and Laura Hunt, of Maryville, and Bryan, Matthew and Anna Calloway of Maryville. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Nancy Calloway, of Knoxville, and Mary Alice Calloway, of Tuscon, Arizona.
Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Carroll and Rev. Brenda Carroll officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the church. The interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Grandview Cemetery.

MARILYN A. MCKINESS
Marilyn A. McKiness, M.L.S. age 80, passed away Friday, June, 30, 2006, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was born April 26, 1926. preceded in death by: beloved mother, Stella Bolster McKiness. Survivors include: Kathy Murphy and cousin Juel McCullough. Marilyn leaves behind many friends locally, being especially close to Ann and Ted Trohanowsky, Betty Fishel, and Kristie Brewer as well as friends in St. Francis Church, Townsend. In addition she leaves friends in the Hampton, Virginia School System from which she retired as a librarian in 1988. Marilyn was close to the sisters of the St. Cecilia Congregation in Nashville of which she was a member for 24 years. Many years were spent by her as principal and teacher in Catholic schools in the Nashville and Memphis dioceses. Always a devout Catholic, she made her religion a blueprint for correct living. Never did she pass up the opportunity to say the kind word, do the kind deed. Biblically it can be said of her, 'Well done, good and faithful servant.' Having lived in this world she made it a better place. On her behalf, gratitude is expressed to the wonderfully kind and competent nurses and doctors of Blount Memorial Hospital who cared for her during her two-month hospitalization. Many thanks also to the nurses of Thompson Oncology at Blount who cared for her three-year illness. 'Out of the depths we cry to you, O Lord. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleading. If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt, Lord, who would survive? But with you is found forgiveness and for this we revere you.' (Psalm 130) Requiescat in pace. Eliza Jane Myers, of Maryville, passed away Friday, June 30, 2006, at Baptist Hospital West. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Bonnie Long Myers; sister, Becky Myers Lee; and brother, Tony Joe Myers.
Survivors include her sister, Jerry L. Myers, of Alcoa; brothers, Larry Myers, of Maryville, and Michael Myers, of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew; many close family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Leamon officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Woodrow (Dock) Raines, age 93, born February 3, 1913, passed away at home Friday, June 30, 2006, at 10 a.m. He was retired from ALCOA after 38 years of service and also a retired farmer. He was a member of Cold Springs Missionary Baptist Church. preceded in death by: daughter, Evelyn Faye Raines; parents, Gilbert and Martha Raines; brothers, Jim, Jesse, Allen, Ike and Arthur; sisters, Rebecca Clark, Maude Moore, Sally Warrick, Nancy Raines, Anna Hancox and Nora Ansley. Florence Elizabeth Hamlin Rickard, age 84, of Maryville, passed away Friday, June 30, 2006 at her home. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Maryville. She taught piano lessons for many years in the Blount County area. She was a student at Maryville College and a lifelong learner. Florence was also a dedicated mother and mentor. preceded in death by: parents, Curtis Sr. & Elizabeth Hamlin; brothers, Ed Hamlin and Curtis Hamlin Jr.; sister, Carolee Hamlin.
