WILMA RUSSELL WOODBY
Wilma Russell Woodby, age 79, of Maryville, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dicie Russell, and brother, Howard Russell.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward D. Woodby; children, Penney and Gordon Huddleston, Richland, Mont., Eddie and Charmine Woodby, Brisbane, Australia, and Kaye and Ed Dennison, of Maryville. Her grandchildren are Terrell Huddleston, Marty Huddleston, Julieen Woodby, Vickie Woodby, and Renee Dennison Painter and Rachel Dennison. She also has six great-grandchildren. Her sisters, brother-in-law and sister-in-law are: Ann and Jack Henry, Billie and Ellis Holland, Helen and Bill McKinney, Susie and Dennis Sullivan, Flo and Ennis "Senti" Sentell. Many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Blount Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, or Blount Memorial Hospital Hospice, 907 East Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maryville, TN 37804 or to a charity of your choice.

FRED L. BAKER
Fred L. Baker, age 89 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Asbury Place, where he lived with his wife, Wanda. He now lives with his Lord and Saviour. He was born in Honesdale, PA, was of the Methodist Faith, attended the Assembly of God Church, he was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Korea. He was a devoted husband and father who adored his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Miller Baker; daughters and sons-in-law, Kearney and Jim Collier of Kingsport, Amy and Harold Hardin of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Dain and Vicki Baker of Maryville; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marion Baker of Houston, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Crisp officiating. The interment service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Grandview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.

DONNA KAY CLOUSE
Donna Kay Clouse, age 52 of Rockford, passed away Thursday June 15, 2006. preceded in death by parents, Willie 'Bill' and Aileene Lands Richardson; uncle, Raymond Lands. Survivors, husband, James Vernon Clouse; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Michelle and Darryl Duncan of Rockford; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Ellen Pickel of Rockford; grandchildren, Kayla Duncan, Tyler Duncan, and Ethan Pickel; brothers, Jimmy, Roger, and Allen Teffeteller all of Knoxville; sister, Debbie Teffeteller of Knoxville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harley and Ruby Clouse of Rockford; several nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful and special wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. Special thanks to the church family of Rockford Baptist Church. Funeral service 4:00 p.m. Sunday June 18, 2006 at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel, Rev Gerald Jones and Rev. Charles Murrell officiating. SARAH JOE ALLEN TALLEY FRIER
Sarah Joe Allen Talley Frier, age 95, of Maryville, died on Tuesday, June 13th, 2006, at Shannondale of Maryville. Born on July 6, 1910 and educated in Maryville, a life-long Presbyterian and certified member of the First Families of Tennessee, Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Emma Beals Allen; and her first loving husband of fifteen years, Gatlin T. Talley. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-five years, Maurice W. Frier; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Louise Talley; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Parks Hitch, Jr.; grandchildren, David Henry Talley, Donna and Mark Russell, John and Margaret (Mimi) Decker and Stephen and Julia Decker; step-grandchild, Virginia and David Holladay; great-grandchildren, Landon, Talley-Lane and Garrett Russell and Frank Allen and John Edward (Jay) Decker; step-great-granddaughters, Virginia, Mary Katherine and Claire Holladay; stepdaughters, Melinda and Walter Zimmerman, Suzanne and Pete Mecke and Jill F. Good; and step-son Hoyt and Chris Frier; step-grandchildren, Ben and Ivy Newton, Kathy and Steve Green, Matthew Mecke and Katie Mecke; step-great-grandchildren, Frances and Gabriel Newton and Autumn and Molly Green; and cousins, Nina C. Russell, Ben Allen and Margaret Cunningham.
After graduating from Maryville College, Class of 1931, she taught high school and elementary school in Blount County, primarily teaching fourth and fifth grades at Alnwick School. Sarah was a devoted daughter, teacher, wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She delighted in being with her neighbors, and those who have received her gifts of love and kindness will cherish her memory. During her retirement years, she especially enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winters from her home in Maryland, and recently from Tennessee.
Her family especially expresses their gratefulness to the medical staff at Blount Memorial Hospital, Oncology and Hospice programs and Shannondale Health Center of Maryville for their dedication to her care during her short illness.
Family will gather at Magnolia cemetery on Sunday, June 18th at 2:00 p.m. for the interment. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. William R. Barron, will be held at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville on Sunday, June 18th at 3:00 p.m., with receiving of friends to follow immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Providence Presbyterian Church, Maryville, Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, the Blount County Public Library or the charity of your choice.

NELL SHY LEWIS
Nell Shy Lewis, age 77 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at her home in Maryville after a long illness. She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. An avid hiker and bicyclist, Mrs. Lewis loved the outdoors and life in general. She got the most out of each moment and shared it with as many people as possible. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will leave her many friends and family with lasting memories of the joy she brought to their lives.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert C. (Bob) Lewis; daughter, Karen Lewis Pflanze; parents, Newton and Osie Shy and brother, Newton Bruce Shy.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Mike) Lewis and daughter-in-law, Brenda Lewis; daughter, Laurie Lee Lewis; granddaughters, Melissa Lewis Beeler and husband Brian Beeler, Jennifer Pflanze Lane and husband Jason Lane, Rebekka Pflanze; sister, Eloise Wynn; four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Grandview cemetery with Dr. Kenneth Gates and Dr. Philip Bembower presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Smokies, P. O. Box 5650, Sevierville, TN 37864.

RICHARD L. VALENTINE
Richard L. Valentine, born in Maryville, Tennessee, April 12, 1939.
He departed this life, June 12, 2006 at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Virginia, after a brief illness.
Richard was the oldest of five children, born to Walter DeWitt and Mrs. Velma Winton Valentine.
Richard obtained his education at Austin High School, class of 1957 and Park College, Parkville, Missouri.
He continued to develop his skills and knowledge in the United States Air Force, where he served his country with honor and dedication for twenty four years.
He joined and actively participated in the Paul W. Mitchell American Legion Post 114.
He has worked for the Federal Aviation Agency for the past twenty-six years.
Richard joined First Baptist Church in Manassas after being transferred to the area by FAA. He faithfully served as a Senior Usher; and as a Circle Leader.
He assisted the American Cancer Society during it's Relay for Life annual activities for several years.
Richard was married to Julia Teasley Valentine, and they were blessed with four children, Eric, Richard II, Ingrid and Michelle.
He was preceded in death by parents, and brothers, George, James, and Gerald.
Survivors, sons, Eric, Knoxville, Richard II; daughters, Ingrid and Michelle, all of Atlanta, GA; brother, Michael Valentine (Lynn Coffman), Murrieta, CA; two granddaughters; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; four uncles; four aunts, eight nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Open visitation, 10:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday at Jarnigan's Chapel; graveside service, 11:30 a.m., Monday, Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery, with full military honors.

MEREDITH E. WILKEN
Meredith E. Wilken, 90, of Maryville, Tennessee and a former Montpelier, Ohio, resident died Thursday morning, June 15, 2006 at Shannondale of Maryville Nursing Home.
She was born January 29, 1916 to the late Leo E. Naylor and Sarah Frances (Batzell) in Logansport, Indiana. Meredith was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Wilken in January 2002.
Meredith graduated with a BA from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, where she was also a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She went on to graduate school at IU and continued her studies at St. Francis University, University of Colorado, and Bowling Green State University. She taught business and art classes at Montpelier High School until retirement in 1974 in Florida, where she continued the teaching of art. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years.
She is survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary Rummel, Maryville, TN; nieces and nephews, Tony (and wife Maryann) Batzell, Barry (Diana) Rummel, John Rummel, Mary Ann (Duane) Hile; and lifelong friends, Ruth and Harry VanWye of Montpelier.
Visitation will be in Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier on Monday from noon to 1:30 p.m., with services at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Robert Danschroder officiating. Burial will follow in Shiffler cemetery near Bryan.
Preferred memorials are to the Donor's Choice.

MARY J. `WARD' WILKERSON
Mary J. 'Ward' Wilkerson, age 71 of Maryville died June 15, 2006. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Maryville. preceded in death by parents: Allen and Fannie Brown; husband: Bobby Doak; infant son, Ricky Ward; son Randy Ward; brothers: A.J. Brown, and Robert Brown; sisters: Jewel Marsh, and Beta Mae Chapman. Survivors include son: Terry Ward of Metter, GA; sister: Ruth Sapp Latimer of Holly Hill, SC; brother: Bobby E. Brown of Metter, GA; many relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Maryville with Rev. Larry Bradley officiating. Burial will take place in Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Mary J. Wilkerson memorial fund at Pineland State Bank P.O. Box 174, 257 N. Broad St. Metter, GA 30439.

FRANCES ELOISE BATES BLUFURD
Frances Eloise Bates Bluford, age 91 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2006, at her home. She was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Chief of Police, John R. Bluford; parents, Robert and Mamie Sue Bates; sisters, Bobbie Crowder, Helen Wear; brother, Joe Bates.
Survivors include: sister, Kathryn Bates of Tellico Plains; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edna and Jack Alexander of FL, Jimmie and Al Delozier of Maryville; brother-in-law, Tommy Delozier of FL; nieces, Sarah and Jackie Winters, Sandy Hakooz, Susie Young, Sissie Burris, Sue Kirkland, Shirley Mullins, Elizabeth Phillips; nephews, Robbie Delozier, Tommy Delozier, Doug Delozier, Mike Skeen; several great-nieces and great-nephews; devoted friend, Trixie Walker.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Sullivan officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
