Edward Claiborne, age 76 of Maryville died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999 at Fort Sanders Medical Center.

BEASLEY, RICK, 51, of Louisville, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999 at his home.

Michael Steven Davis, 40, of Cookeville died Sunday, May 2, 1999 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 9, 1958 in Blount County, Tenn., to Virginia Christopher Davis of Maryville and the late Alvin Davis. He was a drug and alcohol counselor at Plateau Mental Health Center. He was a member of Collegeside Church of Christ and an alum of U.C.S.C.

Richard Edwin Boring, age 46, of Maryville died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, of a heart attack in San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, having held several key leadership positions and was currently the accounting adviser on the building committee. He was Director of Auditing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Mary Jane Hembree, age 89, of Rockford passed away Wednesday morning, April 28, 1999 at the family home. Member of Riverview Baptist Church, Rockford. Retired from Rockford Manufacturing Co. preceded in death by husband, Frank Hembree, daughter, Eula Sue Potter.

Margaret R. Ferguson, symphony official, dies - 04/28/99
Margaret R. Ferguson, 47, Friendsville resident and director of development for the Knoxville Symphony Society, died Monday from injuries received in an automobile accident on Westland Drive in Knoxville.

Floyd James Bowers Sr., age 72, of Friendsville died Tuesday, April 27, 1999 at his home. He was a member of Clark's Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was retired from the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA).

Stanley Boyd 'Peanut' Best Sr., age 62, of Maryville died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at his home. He was owner of Best Heating and Air and a farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Anna Marie Bryant, age 89, of Louisville passed away Wednesday morning, April 21, 1999 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, a retired librarian with the Blount County School System, and a member of Middlesettlements United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Bryant; children, Rose Marie Bryant and John Wayne Bryant; sisters, Polly Waddell and Thelma Jareb; brother, Errock Jordan.

Trula Russell Hatcher, age 78 of Loudon, passed away Tuesday afternoon April 20, 1999 at Farragut Health Care Center. Trula was a member of Prospect Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, Bascom Hatcher.

Beatrice Green, age 75, of South Knoxville, passed away April 17, 1999, at UT Hospital. preceded in death by husband, Ernest Green; parents, Archie A. and Annabelle Hamil Milligan; brothers, Donald E., Riley B., Jimmie and Leroy Milligan; sister, Pauline Milligan.

HARRIS, LUCY SHOEMAKER, 96, of Goodsprings Community, Etowah, died Monday, April 19, 1999 at Asbury Acres Center, Maryville. She was a homemaker.

Katie Ruth McClure Anderson, age 90, of Maryville died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Anderson; parents, John and Sarah McClure. She was a member of Clark's Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

J. Gleason Bowman, age 80, of Maryville died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at his home. He was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church, was retired from ALCOA, was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army, serving in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands, and was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Howard and Martha Hutson Bowman.

Rufus F. Pannell, age 76, of Maryville died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Alcoa Maryville Church of God, was a retired teacher with the Maryville City School System after 36 years of service. He served three years in New Guinea and the Philippines with the U.S. Army during World War II. He and his wife, Eunice, were founders of the FAHOLO Sunday School Class, Faith, Hope and Love.

SWANEY, ALVIA L., 85, of Maryville, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from ALCOA.

William Clyde Allison, age 88, of Maryville, passed away Friday morning, April 9, 1999 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Charter member & Deacon of Unity Baptist Church. Retired from ALCOA & member of the 25 Year Club. Lifetime member of Mt. View Lodge #519. Veteran of the U.S. Army having received the Purple Heart. preceded in death by first wife, Effie Allison; parents, Dick & Martha Allison; brother, Lawrence Allison.

Shirley Bailey, age 59, of Acworth, GA, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at her home.

Helen Cloniger, age 83 of Maryville died at 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 1999 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Piney Level Baptist Church. preceded in death by: husband, Earl Cloniger.

Kermit Caughron, age 86 of Cades Cove, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999 at Blount Memorial Hospital.

Glen T. Ferguson Jr., age 79, of Maryville, passed away Sunday night, April 4, 1999 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Marvin William Alexander, age 53, of Michael Dunn Center in Kingston, died Friday, April 2, 1999 at the Michael Dunn Center.

Lina Fischer, age 85, of Alcoa died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, May 3, 1999 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She worked for the A&P for 20 years on Long Island, N.Y. preceded in death by husband, Louis Fischer; daughters, Mary Louise Fischer, Linda Ann Fischer; brother, Paul Raddatz.

Clyde A. Boring, age 63, of Maryville died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at his home. He was a member of Carpenters United Methodist Church.

Thomas 'Gary' Arnold, age 68 of Maryville, died at 8:20 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 at his residence. He was born in Dallas, Texas on October 27, 1930 and grew up in Denton, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated in 1956 from Texas A & M University with a Graduate Degree in Industrial Engineering. He served on the City Council in Port Lavaca, Texas, where he was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, President Toastmaster and President of the Jaycees. He was employed with Alcoa Aluminum Company for 33 ' years where he served in several positions. He retired to Friendsville in 1986 on the lake which he called 'the property.' In 1998 he moved to Royal Oaks in Maryville. preceded in death by his parents, Vivian M. and Arch Arnold.

Jeffrey Franklin Hampton, age 39, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, in Baltimore, Md. Member of Clover Hill Presbyterian Church and veteran of the U.S. Army.

Edora Queen Eller, age 92, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 at Fairpark Health Center in Maryville. She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Joseph 'Ham' and Sara Cook Queen. She was preceded in death by her husband the Rev. Boyd Eller.

Clarence L. Ballard, age 80 of Maryville died at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 at the family home. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a United States Veteran of World War II with the Air Force. He retired from Southern Extract Paper Plant. preceded in death by: parents, Robert and Nellie Ballard; brothers, Allen and Roy Ballard; sister, Betty Ballard; son-in-law, Donald Storie Jr.

Rev. Lester Dillard Anderson, age 77 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a Baptist minister for 54 years. Member of Memorial Baptist Church (Duncan Rd. Maryville). preceded in death by wife, Rena Mae Anderson; brother, Luther Anderson; sister, Betty Anderson.

Raymond Lewis Crisp, age 70, of Maryville passed away Monday afternoon, Oct. 4, 1999, at Maryville Health Care Center. He was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. preceded in death by father, Clyde W. Crisp.

Dorothy Lucille Stephens Dixon, age 70 of Maryville passed away Sunday afternoon, Oct. 3, 1999 at Blount Memorial Hospital.

Roy Lester Bivens, (TAC) age 86, of 159 Williams Road, Tellico Plains, passed away 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at the home of his daughter, Anna Axley. Member of Ballplay Gospel Tabernacle.

Rachel Minerva Edds, age 98 of Maryville died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was the last surviving daughter of John S. and Cornelia Friar Edds. She was preceded in death by sisters, Daisy, Donna, and Ola Edds, Lucy Cook, Jennie Fugate, Alice Lewis; brothers, Henry and George Edds. She was a graduate of Maryville College and the University of Tennessee with a Masters in Chemistry. She was a retired teacher with 33 years of service having taught in Claiborne, Knox, and Blount Counties, including 28 years at Everett High School in Blount County. She was a charter member of Monte Vista Baptist Church in Maryville, also had been a member of Liberty Baptist in Claiborne County and First Baptist in Maryville, spending many years teaching in Sunday School. Earlier she was a member of Maryville Garden Club, the Business and Professional Women of Blount County, National Teachers Association, Tennessee Education Association and Blount County Teachers Association. She shared her love of learning and the outdoors with young family members on fishing trips, gardening and specially planned picnics, just as she shared her love of art and painting with gifts of her work.

Lona Ann Borden, age 90 of Maryville, died Tuesday night Sept. 28, 1999 at Colonial Hill Nursing Home.
Arrangements will be announced later by Memorial Funeral Home.

Edna Caldwell, of Maryville, died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was a member of the Smoky View Baptist Church and a Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a beautician in Maryville for the past 30 years. preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Caldwell; parents, Robert and Elizabeth Cardin; sister, Irene Martin; brother, Pryor Cardin.

Adra Jane Hawn, age 85, of Maryville died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at Blount Memorial Hospital.

Carol Jean O'Donnell, age 48, of Louisville. Born, March 9, 1951. died Sept. 22, 1999. preceded in death by parents, Robert and Mollie O'Donnell. Survivors: sister, Cathie O'Donnell of Pigeon Forge; niece, April Ann Tokash of Florida; nephew, Gray Robert Smith of Florida.

COOPER, CARL WILLIAM, 88, of Louisville died Saturday in the Maryville Health and Rehab Center, Maryville. He was employed by the Mountain View Hotel for 37 years. - 09/26/99
Survivors: wife, Zella Davenport Cooper; son, Sam Cooper of Louisville; daughter, Jane Crawford of Naples, Fla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Williams, and Maude Wright and husband Father Robert H. Wright.

Dorothy R. Headrick, age 84, of Walland, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 1999 at the family home. She was a member of Full Gospel Christian Church. preceded in death by: husband, Earl Headrick; son, Donald Headrick; parents, William Riley and Mary Crystal Davis; sister, Oleen Teffeteller; brother, Harold Davis.

John B. Bassel Sr., age 95 of Springfield, Tenn., formerly of Maryville, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, in Springfield. He was an Episcopalian, worked for TVA for many years at Norris, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Muscle Shoals, Ala., and was later employed at Cape Canaveral. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dorothy Law Bassel; sister, Elizabeth Bassel Belt.

James Roy Burchfield, 85, of Maryville died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Burchfield; daughters, Beverly Sue Molter and Glenda Burchfield; parents, George and Gracie Mae Burchfield; sisters, Anna Belle White, Laura Burchfield; brothers, Luther, Leonard and Charles Burchfield; grandsons, David and Mike Molter.

BROWN, ELIZABETH STANLEY ERGENBRIGHT, 79, of Waynesboro, Va., died Tuesday morning at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville. She worked for many years at the News Virginian in the classified ad department and worked at McClung Printers in sales.

Callie Mae Spires Bradam, age 78 of Alcoa, passed away Sunday afternoon, Sept. 19, 1999 at the home of her daughter in Cleveland.

Myrtle Rozella Ammons of Seymour, Tenn., passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
