Kenneth L. Casey, age 48 of Maryville, died at 11:35 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999 at the family home. He was a Tool Crib Clerk for Newell Office Products. preceded in death by: parents, Claude and Mamie Casey; father-in-law, William Hutsell.
Tori Danielle Kilby, 3 months, of Townsend died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000 at her home.
William J. (Bill) Wilson, age 82, of Alcoa, passed away Friday, February 25, 2000 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Mr. Wilson was a member of Maryville Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a deacon, participated in disciple training, Sunday School, and countless other church activities. He retired from ALCOA in 1979 after 43 years of service and remained active in the 25 year service club. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert C. and Hattie Wilson, and a brother Bobby, all of Alcoa.

Robert Wayne 'Bob' Bales, age 69, of Maryville, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was born in Jefferson County and reared in Blount County. He graduated from Everett High School in 1948 and was a star basketball player. He was a 1952 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, where he worked on the university farm to earn his way through school. After college he served two years in the United States Army. After discharge he was employed by Burroughs/Unisys Corporation from 1952 until 1988 when he retired. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Maryville, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. preceded in death by: father, Wallace D. Bales; mother, Bonnie Bull; sister, Dorothy Arp.
Survivors include: wife of 49 years, Cecilia DeFoe Bales; daughters, Tammy Lynn West of Wellford, S.C., Sandra Lee of Knoxville; two grandchildren, both of Wellford, S.C.; stepmother, Sara Bales; stepsisters, Shirley Culver, Debbie Sheley, all of Amarillo, Texas.

Anna Katherine (Katie) Eubanks, age 49, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2000 at the St. Mary Hospital. She was born on December 22, 1950 and is the daughter of Leslie L. Ault Sr. and Maude Irene (Blazier) Ault. Anna is preceded in death by her father Leslie L. Ault Sr., and her husband Thomas H. Eubanks. Anna was a member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church in Knoxville.
John Robert Bluford, age 80 of Maryville, died Tuesday, February 22, 2000, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late James Fred and Sarah Elizabeth Hill Bluford, he was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church, a member of New Providence Lodge #128, a veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW and American Legion and was a retired City of Maryville Police Chief serving over 30 years.
David Luke Hutchinson, age 62, a native of Knoxville, died peacefully of a cranial hemorrhage, on February 20, 2000 at 2 p.m. Doctor D, as his family, many friends, and patients referred to him, was born in Kingston and raised in Knoxville. He was a graduate of West High School and joined the US Navy upon graduation. After returning from the Navy, he attended Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, Mo. Upon finishing his studies, he bought a business in Maryville and practiced there for 13 years. Doctor D then left Maryville and traveled to the Fiji Islands where he lived and worked for one year. Following his return from the Fiji Islands, he opened a practice in the Vonore area until his retirement. He was a member of the Tennessee Chiropractic Association. His parents, Martin Luke and Helen Barnard Hutchinson, preceded him in death.
Edgar W. Best, age 92, of Maryville, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000 at Maryville Healthcare Center. He was a member of Carpenters United Methodist Church, was retired from ALCOA and a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ethleen Baumgardner; mother and father, Coy and Cora Best; sister, Mary Coning; brothers, Truman, Fred, Claude and Lawrence.
DAKE, NELLE MARIE ARNWINE, Alcoa, died Friday, Feb. 18 at home with her family at her bedside. She taught kindergarten for several years. - 02/20/00

William Luke Cornette Jr., age 56, entered into eternal rest Friday, Feb. 18, 2000 after a brave battle with cancer. He was a member of Kagley's Chapel Baptist Church and had previously served as music director and Sunday School Training Union Teacher for youth and young adults. He loved Southern Gospel music. He worked in the industrial fastener business for 30 years. A prior Blount County business owner of Cornette Fasteners, he was known to his customers and friends as 'The Boltman.' preceded in death by: daughter, Angela Cornette; father and mother, Luke and Geneva Cornette, formerly of Big Stone Gap, VA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie and Susie Clabough; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Jean Clabough; nephew, Frank Clabough.
Survivors: wife, Helen Cornette; daughter, Amy Cornette.
Miss Agnes Lewis, a resident of Asbury Acres, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, only a few weeks before her 100th birthday. She was born in Roswell, NM, on April 2, 1900. She was the youngest child of a Presbyterian Church minister, the Reverend Richard W. Lewis and his wife, Tommie Walker Lewis, who died when Agnes was very young. Reverend Lewis' second wife was the mother of five additional children, including William Covell Lewis, the only surviving sibling, now in San Diego. Agnes followed in the footsteps of her two older sisters, and graduated from Maryville College. In 1930, she joined the Frontier Nursing Service in Wendover, Kentucky, as Executive Secretary, and remained a dedicated member of the Service for 37 years. In 1967, she moved to Maryville and lived with her sister, the late Mrs. Clinton Gillingham until the sisters moved together into the Asbury Acres retirement home. Agnes was an active member of New Providence Presbyterian Church.
Harry W. 'Buttermilk' McClurg, age 84 of Louisville, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Wellington Place. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, was a member for 50 years with the George Washington 181 Louisville Lodge, retired from ALCOA after 40 years of service and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club. Mr. McClurg was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Byers McClurg; parents, Charlie L. and Faye McBath McClurg.
Phyllis Ann Cable, age 51, of Maryville, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 15, 2000, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center after a four-month battle with cancer. She was an award-winning reporter and editor at The Daily Times, where she worked for 28 years. Her last position was city editor in charge of the news reporting staff. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Tennessee. She graduated from Chilhowee View Elementary School and Walland High School before attending UT. In 1997 she received the Malcolm Law Memorial Award for feature reporting for the story 'Struggling in the face of hope, ' a story about Alice Perkins, the girl born without a face. The honor was presented by the Tennessee Associated Press Managing Editors in a contest involving newspaper writers statewide. She organized and helped write the stories in the tribute to Cades Cove that ran in The Times on Nov. 12, 1998. It was entitled 'Cades Cove: A Walk Through the Past.' Both her parents were natives of Cades Cove, having been forced out when the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was formed. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Cable; sister, Vondell Campbell; and brother, Charles 'Jack' Cable.
Lester W. Goddard, age 86 of Maryville, passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2000 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 year club.
BREWER, ELIZABETH LONG, 86, Maryville, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000 at Baptist Hospital. She was a teacher in the Blount County School System for 43 years before retiring from the Alcoa School System.
Eric Martin Eaves, of Maryville, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000. He was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church and a graduate of Hiawassee College and Tennessee Weslyan College.
James Patrick 'Pat' Dewine III, age 45, of Maryville, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2000 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church. He was employed by the Aluminum Company of America for 22 years.
Myrtle Ruth Christopher Blevins, age 76 of Maryville died at 5:32 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000 at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Pete Fagg, age 85 of Maryville died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from ALCOA after 44 years of service and a member of the 25 year service club. He is preceded in death by wife, Glenise Hitch Fagg; parents, John Ed and Louise Fagg; brothers, Frank, James, Clyde, Wade, and A.J. Fagg; sisters, Jessie Stephens, Anna Bell Clark, and Ruby Driver.
James Robert Lewis, age 58, of Louisville, was pronounced dead Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. He was employed in accounting at the Inn at Blackberry Farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Louise Lewis; grandparents, Luther and Mary Harrod.
Freeman Alan Collins, 44, of Friendsville, died Thursday morning at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Freeman A. Billings, Frank B. Wilson, Hoyt and Noralee Collins; sister, Elizabeth (Penny) Collins.
Maud E. Hurst Garland, age 71 of Greenback, passed away Tuesday evening, February 1, 2000 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Member of Walland United Methodist Church; preceded in death by parents, William Carson and Rosetta Flynn; several brothers and sisters.

Leslie Ray Duncan, Jr., age 44, of Maryville, formerly of Clinton, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2000, at his residence. He was Owner and Operator of Timber Kraft Contracting in Sevierville, Tennessee. He graduated from University of Tennessee with a B.S. degree. He was very dedicated to his work. preceded in death by grandparents, Byrd and Melinda Duncan; aunt, Thelma Duncan; and father-in-law, Charles Berry.

Joseph Cornett, age 80, of Maryville, passed away on March 9, 2000 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from McCombs Supply in Knoxville and was a U. S. Army Veteran of WW II. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Cornett.
