ELIZABETH `LIB' LANE PEARSON
Elizabeth (Lib) Lane Pearson, died Saturday, December 11, 2004, at the age of 85. She was a retired teacher from the Maury County Board of Education and also from Maryville City Schools. She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward K. (Ed) Pearson; son, Kelly Pearson; parents, Vola and Quincy Lane; brothers, Dr. Richard A. Lane and William H. Lane.
Lib is survived by her daughter Jean Redwine, and son-in-law, Dr. Alfred L. Redwine of Maryville; granddaughters: Jenni Simmons and husband Jeff of Candler, N.C., Becky Redwine of Nashville and Julie Redwine of New London, Connecticut; life long friend Jean Koella of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at New Providence Presbyterian Church with Rev. Philip Bembower officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

IDA WILDER STUDLEY
May 18, 1915 - December 5, 2004
Ida Wilder Studley, of Xenia, Ohio and Maryville, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on December 5, 2004.
After arriving in Maryville in 1932, Ida married
Joseph H. Studley Jr. in 1936, became a member of the Presbyterian Church and in the course of raising their children supported and provided leadership for community activities including founding of the Tanasi Girl Scout Council, PTA, Den Mother, Hospital Guild and by playing bridge with T.C. Drake and others began her journey to achieving the level of Life Master bridge player.
In the mid 1950's, at the age of 40, Ida found a new challenge in the sport of golf. Her skills increased in golf, and she became one of the founders of the Knox Area Women's Golf Association. The first President of the KAWGA and another turn at President for the 25th Anniversary year were proud moments for Ida. Along the way Ida became a life Member of Green Meadow Country Club which was presented on her 80th Birthday. Many times a Women's Club Champion at Green Meadow, Chairperson of The Tennessee Women's Senior Golf Championship conducted at Green Meadow, and actively participating in Tennessee Women's Golfing Competitions led to Ida Studley's induction as an original member in the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame on November 19, 1997.
Ida will be missed by all of whom she touched, her infectious smile, her homemade rolls, and her attitude of 'refuse to lose.'
Ida was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1994 after 57 years of marriage. Ida was also predeceased by her grandson, Mike Studley, five sisters, four brothers and her parents, John and Angeline Wilder.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Florence S. Goza (Michael) and son, Robert J. Studley (Judy). Surviving also are loving grandson, Jonathan M. Goza (Kim); great-granddaughters, Katherine Anne Goza and Claire Wilder Goza; and loving granddaughter, Elizabeth W. Goza-Torrone (Phillip). Surviving relatives include: sister-in-law, Alma B. Studley; nephews, Virgil Wilder (Betty), John Martin, (Maxine), Richard C. Studley Jr. (Polly); niece, Barbara B. Burdette (William); and many other loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, at Grandview cemetery followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service at New Providence Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Emily J. Anderson and the Rev. J. Stephen Musick officiating. A reception in the Chapel will follow the Memorial Service.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be provided by the Deacons of the Church.

JOE K. WALKER JR.
Joe K. Walker Jr., age 77, of Seminole, Fla., died Thursday, December 9, 2004, at Sun Coast Hospital. He was born in Elizabethton, and came to Florida as a winter resident in 1994 and permanently in May, 2004, from Walland. A retired Major in the U.S. Army, he served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Knaffle and Mary (Mary Star) Walker. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Beau and Mary Walker, and their two sons, Jason and Travis, all of Blue Ridge, Va.; and also by three special cousins, Wanda Hubbard, George Roberts and Jim Drew, all of Seminole, Fla., and two special couples, Ken and Jan and Roger and Zena of Tennessee. MARY EUGENIA `JEAN' WILLOCKS
Mary Eugenia 'Jean' Willocks, age 89, of Maryville, passed away Friday, December 10, 2004, at Baptist Hospital. She was a very active member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir. She was a retired teacher with Blount County Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Billie B. Willocks, and her brother, William Howard Willocks, Jr. Survivors include her son, James William Willocks of Maryville; daughter & son-in-law, Kathleen & Bruce Gorenflo of Louisville; daughter, Mary Lee Willocks Ogle of Maryville; nine grandchildren, Jeff Gorenflo, Jody Henson, Jason Gorenflo, Mendi Mann, Gabe Ogle, Jesse Ogle, Whitney Ogle, Amanda Walker and Josie Willocks; eight great-grandchildren, Miranda Henson, Marissa Henson, Johnathan Gorenflo, Cody Gorenflo, Alyssa Walker, Gillian Mann, Isaac Mann and Brogan Ogle; sisters, Ruby (Kassie) Woods of Maryville, Joanne Barger and Betty Duncan, both of Oliver Springs; brother, Verda Lee Wilson of Oliver Springs. THOMAS W. BOOZE SR.
Thomas W. Booze, Sr., age 78 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Bungalow United Methodist Church, a member of the Retired Officers Association and American Legion. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps, of Engineers, served in World War II with the 100th Bomb Group and completed 25 missions over Germany, he also retired from Eastern Airlines after 18 years of service.
Mr. Booze was preceded in death by his son, Timothy S. Booze; grandson, Brian J. Booze; parents, Walter W. and Virginia C. Blair Booze; brothers, Bill Booze, Gerald Booze, Walter Booze, Jr., and Robert Booze; sisters, Patty Ricuitti, and Teresa Mayle.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Booze of Maryville; children, Thomas Booze, Jr. and wife Susan of Woodbridge, VA, Terry and Judy Booze of Marianna, FL and Tracy and Renee Booze of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Eric, Christopher, Tina, Jason, Max and Carrie Booze; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Pat Booze of San Antonio, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and John Symcheck of Fredericktown, PA; half brother and half sister-in-law, Fred M. and Norma Derry of Belair, MD; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Bennett officiating. The interment service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Sherwood Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

GEORGE BURCHFIELD JR.
George Burchfield, Jr., age 81 of Maryville died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a United States Army-Air Force Veteran. He retired from ALCOA with 43 years of service and was a member of their 25-Year Club. preceded in death by: 1st wife, Gladys E. Rollins Burchfield; parents, George Sr. and Gracie Burchfield; brothers, John, Leonard, Charles, and Roy Burchfield; sisters, Lara Burchfield, Iva Lee Quiette, Cecil Lambert, Annabell White. HELEN THOMAS EZELL
Helen Thomas Ezell, age 79 of Maryville, born September 7, 1925, died December 8, 2004, at her home. She was a charter member of Ellejoy Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ezell; and grandson, James Reed.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Sandifer and husband Jim, Denise Ingram and husband David; son, Ray Ezell and wife LaWenda; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Ellejoy cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Ron Blaydes officiating.

Edna Jewell Jenkins, age 75 of Louisville died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Shannondale of Maryville. She was a member of Mentor Immanuel Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. preceded in death by: parents, Frank and Annie McKeehan; son, Jeffrey Lynn Jenkins; brothers, Harry, Steve, Herbert, and Oley McKeehan; sisters, Anna Mae Borden, Anna Belle Cox, Hallie Payne, and Bessie Phelps. JOHN WOODFIN PROFFITT
John Woodfin (Jack) Proffitt, age 85 of Alcoa, TN, died on Tuesday, December 7, 2004. Jack was born in Cleveland, TN, on September 19, 1919, and the family moved to Maryville in November 1919, when the first Proffitt's Department Store was opened on the corner of Main Street (now Broadway) and Brick Hill (now Cusick Street).
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Sherer Proffitt, who is the mother of his children; parents, David Wilson and Lillian Gray Webb Proffitt; brothers, Harwell Webb Proffitt, and Richard Neil Proffitt.
Jack is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janet Schaffer Proffitt; daughter, Sherry Bonham of Maryville; daughter, Penny Piper of Walland; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Gray and Hugh Hunter of Birmingham, AL; son and daughter-in-law, John W. (Woody) Proffitt, Jr. and Janie of Townsend; grandchildren, Amy Gray Piper of Charlottesville, VA, Jackie Osterhaus and husband David of Sterling, IL, John Webb Hunter of Murfreesboro, TN, Grayson Hugh Hunter of Birmingham, AL, Richard Woodfin Proffitt and wife Misty of Louisville, TN, and Melissa Jayne Proffitt of Townsend; great-grandchildren, Adam and Kristyn Gray Osterhaus of Sterling, IL, and Derek and Sean Proffitt of Maryville; and sister, Mary Lillian Proffitt Lyle.
He was educated in the Maryville City School System, attending East Side Grammar School, Maryville Junior High School, and Maryville High School. He attended Maryville College for three years and transferred to the University of Tennessee in order to take business courses. He graduated from UT with a B.S. in Economics. While in the army for three years during World War II, he also attended Washington and Lee University and Susquehanna University. While stationed at Camp Pickett, VA, Jack was in charge of entertainment for our troops returning from battle.
Jack is a 63 year member of the Maryville Kiwanis Club, has been a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church since 1927. He was an ordained elder and an ordained deacon.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004, at New Providence Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Emily J. Anderson and the Rev. Dr. Philip Bembower officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.

WILLIAM `LEE' TIPTON
William 'Lee' Tipton, age 86 of Maryville passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at his home. He was preceded in death by: wife, Anna M. Tipton; parents, Rev. and Mrs. Johnnie Tipton; sisters, Ruth Myers, Lois Lane; brothers, Vernie and Roy Tipton. Mr. Tipton was a descendent of Cades Cove where he was born and spent his early years growing up and going to school. He retired from ALCOA and was a member of their Fifty-Year Club. He joined Cades Cove Memorial Baptist Church when it was organized and was the choir leader for more than twenty years. He also was lead singer for the Old Cades Cove Memorial Quartet with sister Ruth as alto, brother Roy as tenor, Carl White as bass singer and sister-in-law Myrtle as piano player. He attended Piney Level Baptist Church. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Jessie Myers; granddaughter, Kimberly White; grandson-in-law, Mike White; great-grandson, Trevor Lee White; sisters, Inez Lord, Jean Swift, Betty Seaton, Shirley Connaster; several nieces and nephews; special neighbor, Wade Lane. William John Bobbitt, age 23 of Maryville died Saturday, December 4, 2004, in Dubuque, Iowa. He attended Alcoa United Methodist Church and was active with the Alcoa Football Team. preceded in death by grandfather, William B. Collins. Survivors include parents, John and Glenda Bobbitt; sisters, Lindsey Bobbitt and Sydney Bobbitt; grandparents, Shirley Collins, John and Marlene Bobbitt; special friends, Will Shelton and Ryan Haws, and many other special friends.
