Gaynes Jerome Clark
Gaynes Jerome Clark, age 83 of Alcoa, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at the Colonial Hills Transitional Care Unit, where he had been admitted the previous week after suffering an unexpected illness. He had lived at home until that time with his son, Richard.
Mr. Clark was a longtime resident of Alcoa. He graduated from Roane County (now Kingston) High School in 1939. Mr. Clark was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1940-1946. He served on the USS Leary that was torpedoed by Japanese submarines in the central Atlantic on December 24, 1943. He received numerous medals including: the American Defense Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and the Victory Medal. Mr. Clark was retired from his job as an air traffic controller. In retirement, he enjoyed collecting coins and watching classic movies and television. He was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church in Maryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Etta (McCosh) Clark; and his wife, Jama Lorene (Stapp) Clark.
He is survived by his son, Richard Alan Clark of Alcoa.
Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Grandview cemetery for a graveside service with Dr. Bob Brown officiating.

Rosice Mae Courrier, age 84 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a member of South Holston Baptist Church. Rosice was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Courrier; sons, Howard Clyde Courrier, Marvin Ray Courrier, Grover Lewis Courrier, James Thomas Courrier; daughter-in-law, Goldie Fay Courrier; grandson, Billy Ray Courrier; sister, Betty Noah; brothers, Pearly Lee Bivens and Clyde Coffman; mother, Mary Coffman; father, Grover Bivens; step-father, Charles Coffman; sisters-in-law: Margaret Louise Brown, Ethel Coffman, Leona Dailey and Lizzie Dailey. She is survived by her children: Billy Joe Courrier of Lenoir City, Mary Florence Courrier of Tellico Plains, Marie Courrier Tinsley of GA, Benjamin F. Courrier of Louisville; daughter-in-law, Lynn Courrier; son, Michael Edward Courrier of GA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jo Smallen of Lenoir City, Lucille Noah of Kansas; brother, Jake Coffman of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Palmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday. Martha E. Sentell, age 86 of Louisville, TN, was called home to be with Jesus on November 21, 2004.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Callie Kidd and her loving husband of 49 years, B. M. Sentell.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Patricia Thornton and husband Robert of Louisville, TN and Ellie Lowe of Naples, FL; sister, Anna Sentell of Knoxville; grandchildren, Paul, Tami and husband Bob, Kimberly and husband Michael, Michael and wife Norma and Andrea and husband Scott; great grandchildren, Adam, Landon, Cindy, Wesley, Morgan, Miranda, Mykala, Camden, Ian, Ryan and Kierra; neighbor and close friend, Nell Tallent.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Louisville cemetery with Minister Gary Thomas, of Pilgrim Baptist Church, officiating.

ROBERT RUDOLPH BAERNS
Robert Rudolph Baerns, age 67, of Maryville lost his courageous battle with cancer on Thursday December 2, 2004, at his home. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also served his country as a member of the U. S. Army from 1958 to 1962. An active member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, he was a member of the choir, a deacon, and many other committees. He was a member of the 2003 Mexico mission trip and very instrumental in raising funds for The Habitat For Humanity organization. Bob was employed as a broker at Remax 1st, member of the Tennessee Association of Realtors and Chamber of Commerce and was past President of the Blount County Board of Realtors. He is preceded in death by his father Rudolph Baerns. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marleen Morris Baerns; his mother, Doris Baerns; children and their spouses, Jeffrey of Nashville, Scott and Michele of Maryville, Jim and Lori Riant of Decatur, Al and Corey of Maryville; grandchildren, Katelyn and Austin Riant of Decatur, Ala., and Kimmel and Hadley Baerns of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Kathi Baerns; nephews, Christopher, Jeremy, and Gregory all of Denver, Colo. A celebration of life will be held at New Providence Presbyterian Church on Sunday, December 5, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Emily Anderson and Reverend Steve Musick officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Ronald A. (Ro-ho) Ogle, age 68, of Maryville, died Thursday, December 2, 2004, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He retired from ALCOA after 25 years of service. preceded in death by: Mother, Eliza Ogle. Survivors include: Wife, Linda Ogle; Son, Ronald A. Ogle II of Maryville; Daughter, Kelly K. Clarence R. Curtis, age 95, of Friendsville, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at his home. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Maryville. He retired from Alcoa and was a member of their 25-Year Club. preceded in death by: infant son and daughter, John and Doris Curtis. Survivors include: wife of 70 years, Henrietta Curtis; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Curtis of Alcoa; daughters and sons-in-law, Marianna Smith and the late Frank Smith of Friendsville, Clara and George Rogers of Ellijay, Ga., Lois and Rick Chase of Middletown, R.I., Ida and Dave Moler of Rockford; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, George Jack of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Mildred Lane Curtis of Maryville; several nieces and nephews. Merriman W. "Rocky" Fraze, age 69, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, December, 2, 2004, at Blount Memorial Transitional Care. He was of the Baptist faith. preceded in death by his parents, E.H. and Blanche Fraze; Grandson, Jeffrey Wayne Fraze Jr.; stepson, Steven Allen Self.

Patrick A. Herman, age 40, of Louisville, passed away December 2, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Herman. Survived by mother, Monica Herman of Farragut; his wife, Brandy Herman of Louisville; four daughters, Breanna of Louisville, Sarah of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Jadelynn of Louisville and Macy of Louisville; four sisters, Patricia, Debbe, Teresa Herman of Farragut and Doris Schleicher of Farragut; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles Herman and wife Nancy of Tom's River, New Jersey, and Robert Herman and wife Denise of Tampa Bay, Florida.
Prayer services will be held Sunday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m. at the Chapel of Highland West. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, in Highland West Memorial Park. Jean Caroline Lambert, age 83, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2004, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay C. Lambert. She was passionate about family, hiking, and bridge. She loved her mountains. She was a member of the Smoky Mountain Hiking Club, and a Life Master in Bridge.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Clay W. and Chris Lambert of Corbin, Ky., Harry E. and Carol Lambert of Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Al Peifer of Dana, Ill.; special and loving grandchildren, Clay Lambert Jr. and wife Bobbie of Locust Grove, Ga., Greg Lambert of Ga., Jeff Lambert and wife Erin of Maryville, Paige Wallace of Ill. and Janelle Peifer of Dana, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Clay Lambert III, Daniel Lambert both of Locust Grove, Ga., Zane Lambert and Belle Lambert both of Maryville; sisters, Helen Porter of Maryville and Betty Jo Barton of Paris, Tenn.
