BETTY CASS SAUNDERS
Betty Cass Saunders, age 87, of Maryville, passed away Friday November 12, 2004, in the early morning hours at Asbury Acres Nursing Home. She was a longtime member of Fairview United Methodist Church and a member of the Fairview community for over 50 years.
Survivors include: grandson, Mike Chambers; granddaughter, Lisa Patridge; great-grandchildren, Robbie and Kayla.
Funeral services will be held Thursday November 18, 2004, in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Gumm Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, and the entombment service will take place Friday, November 19, at 10 a.m. in Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Kidney Foundation.

FRANCES BOWDITCH GARNER
Frances Bowditch Garner, age 86 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at her home. She was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church and the Shields Sunday School Class for over 50 years. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Maryville College and her Master's Degree from UNC, Chapel Hill and taught in Mitchell County, Charlotte, NC and the Blount County School System.
Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin D. and Bernice Hamrick Bowditch; and brother, Edwin A. Bowditch.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, George W. Garner; daughters, Denice Garner of Maryville and Marcia Garner of Friendsville; son and daughter-in-law, Murray and Jane Ann Garner of Houston, TX; grandsons, William Garner and Adam Garner; sister, Miriam Bowditch of Morganton, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob Runion of Bakersville, NC; sister-in-law, Elizabeth 'Lib' Bowditch of Valdese, NC; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Maryville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Carroll and Rev. Dan Moore officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church.

RUNELL SAMMONS
Runell Sammons, age 78 of Maryville died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospice. She was a member of Maryville First Church of God. preceded in death by: husband, Ausbon Sammons; two brothers; three sisters. Survivors include: sons, Sammy Sammons and Jerry Sammons both of Maryville; daughter, Willadean Gribble of Maryville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Tomie Lou Bone of Maryville, Betty Hunsinger of Decatur, GA, and Wilma Anderson of Lagrange, GA; brothers, Clarence Parmer of Decatur, GA and Leroy Parmer of Woodland, GA. Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2004 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Pastor Kent Sellers officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. CAROL J. ALLEN
Carol J. Allen, age 51, of Friendsville passed away peacefully Tuesday Nov.16 after a yearlong battle with cancer. She spent 28 years helping others as a Respiratory Therapist at UT Hospital. She was an active member of St.John's Cathedral and was also a member of the East Tennessee Indian League. She was preceeded in death by son, Justin R. Fennelly; and father, James W. Allen. She is survived by her daughter, Tristen A. Fennelly; mother, Mary R. Allen; and brother, James W. Allen. She also leaves behind many beloved friends and family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Cathedral Endowment Fund. Services will be held Thursday Nov. 18 at St. John's Cathedral, Knoxville at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements by East Tennessee Mortuary Service Inc.
ALLEN, CAROL JEAN, 51, Friendsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at University of Tennessee Medical Center. James Michael Headrick, age 51 of Maryville died Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. He will be sadly missed. preceded in death by: father, J.T. Headrick; brother, Tim Headrick. Survivors include: sons, Ryan Headrick and wife Joanie and Michael Headrick and wife Jamie both of Maryville; daughter, Michelle Mashburn of Maryville; grandchildren, Hunter Mashburn, Johnny Ryan Headrick, and Thomas Headrick; mother, Bernice Headrick of Maryville; brother, Steve Headrick and wife Betty of Maryville; special friend, Debbie Breeden; nephews, Jeff Headrick and wife Susan and Scott Headrick and wife Dicie. BOBBIE J. MORTON
Bobbie J. Morton, age 72 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at Maryville Healthcare Center. She retired from Zales Jewelers with over 40 years of service.
Mrs. Morton was preceded in death by her husband, Keith 'Mule' Morton and parents, Clifford and Edith Hitch Wilson.
She is survived by her son, Pat Morton of Maryville and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Grubb officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Magnolia cemetery for the interment service.

RICKY DEAN OWNBY
Ricky Dean Ownby, age 47, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, November 12, 2004, in a Sevier County hospital. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1975 and was a member of Bellefounte Baptist Church. Mr. Ownby had been employed with Duracell Inc. for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his father, E.A. Ownby Jr.
He is survived by two sons and their spouses, Shawn and Leah Ownby of Aviano, Italy, and Chad and Cristy Ownby of Cleveland; mother, Lorean Daniels of Maryville; three grandchildren, Kaylee Ownby, Parker Ownby and Bryce Ownby; fiancee, Betty Gale of Cleveland; one sister, Judy Prichard of Cleveland; one brother, Dale Ownby of Cleveland; close friend, Floyd Leak of Maryville; nieces, Brandi Eslinger and Cindy Veach, both of Cleveland; nephews, Nick Ownby of Cleveland, Scott Prichard of Maryville and Curt Prichard of Virginia.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
JOHN H. PRESLEY
John H. Presley, 61, of the Elkhead community near Sparta, Missouri, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 in his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1943, in Maryville, TN, the son of John and Ruth Presley.
John was an over-the-road truck driver and had resided in Christian County since 1989. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his pontoon boat, fishing and hunting. His attentiveness for others allowed him to be a very giving individual.
He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by a half brother, James Presley, of Cottage Grove, Wis.; a half sister, Linda Hepner, of Cheyenne, WY; a beloved aunt, Mary Thomas, of Maryville, TN; a special friend, Irene Martin of Sparta; several cousins and many caring friends.
A memorial service for John Presley was held in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri with Sister Audrey Watkins officiating. Mr. Presley's request was to be cremated and buried in TN beside his beloved grandmother. Memorial service to be held Sunday, November 21, 2004, at Cold Springs Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Services conducted by brother Elmer Thomas. Burial to follow in Cold Springs cemetery.

Charles Warren Thomas, 82 of Maryville, went to be with the Lord from his residence Tuesday, November 16, 2004. He was preceded in death by: parents, William and Lydia Thomas; son, Roger Thomas; brother, Cap Thomas; sisters, Frances Shadden, Lottie Thomas, and Thelma Nichols; great-grandson, Manuel McMurray. He is survived by: wife, Betty Thomas; daughter and son-in-Law, Frances and Benny Purkey of Maryville; son, Charles Thomas of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, David and Chesney Thomas of Louisville; brother, Barney Thomas of GA; sisters, Alberta McMillian, Irene Thomas, Bobbie Thomas, Bulah Edmonds all of Maryville; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Danny McMurray. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Michael McClurg officiating. Everyone will meet at Laurel Bank cemetery 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2004 for graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. JOHNNIE OLIVER WEBER
Johnnie Oliver Weber, age 90, passed away Tuesday November 16, 2004. Born and raised in Cades Cove, TN July 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late John W. Oliver and Nancy Ann Whitehead Oliver. She was graduated from Montreat Normal School and attended the University of Tennessee. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Friendship Club. Mrs. Weber was also a member the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter A.H. and the D.A.R. Cavett Station. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sisters, Frona Mae, Irene Ryan; infant twin girls (unnamed); brothers, Judge W. Wayne Oliver, Captain H. Clay Oliver, Colonel Hugh R. Oliver, and J. Winston Oliver; sister, Lucille Oliver Dunn; and her husband, Alfred H. Weber. She is survived by her children, Nancy A. Weber, Stephen G. Weber and Alfred H. Weber, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Adrienne and Marshall Weber. Family and friends will meet at the main entrance to Highland Memorial cemetery Saturday for a 12:00 noon graveside service with Rev. Charles Hurlock officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cades Cove Preservation Association, P.O. Box 213, Alcoa, TN 37701 of Knox Area Rescue Ministries. Buddy Lee Williams, Sr., age 62 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda 'Millie' Williams; son and daughter-in-law, William Harold and Sandra Hutsell of Friendsville; sons, Robert Thomas Hutsell, Buddy Williams, Jr. both of Maryville, and William H. Hutsell of Louisville; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Ray Heller of Florida; brother, David Williams of Loudon.

Joan Wyres Wilson, age 50, of Kingston, formerly of Blount County, died at her home on Tuesday afternoon, November 16, 2004. Joan was a member of First Baptist Church in Kingston. She was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Heaton Wyres and father, Sherman Wyres. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Terry Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Treva and Drew Hutton of Atlanta; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Nelse 'Jr.' Wilson of Greenback; several aunts, uncles and cousins; two beloved very dear friends, Debbie Smith of Maryville and Kathy Stack of Greensboro, North Carolina and her beloved dachshund, who laid by her side every day.
