Carlyle 'Dick' Robbins died Thursday morning, August 3, 2000, at 8:55 a.m. at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from ALCOA in Alcoa, TN. After retiring from the Aluminum Company of America, Mr. Robbins was active in the Blount County Rescue Squad and received several awards for outstanding service. He served as secretary-treasurer of the Blount County Rifle and Pistol Club until the club disbanded. He was a 50 Year member of the George Washington Lodge # 181. Mr. Robbins was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church, where he was active as a Trustee and member of the Administrative Council.

Lela Muriel Carpenter Cupp, age 94 of Americus, Ga. died Nov. 4, 2000 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. She was born July 17, 1906 in Maryville, Tenn. She lived in Columbus for the last 10 years and was formerly from Macon, Ga. She was a member of Macon Riverside United Methodist Church where she was active in Sunday School and the United Methodist Women Association. She was a self-employed seamstress.

Rev. Harrison D. Hill, age 76 of Alcoa went home to be with his Lord Friday, November 10, 2000 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He served as pastor at New Hope Baptist Church for 30 years.

Betty Jo McMillan Chapman, age 72 of Maryville, died Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at her home.
Ivan Vincent Chambers, Lt. Col. Tennessee Army National Guard Retired, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2000, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was 80. A veteran of World War II, he served in France with the 280th Battalion XIII Corps as Reconnaissance Officer and Forward Observer. During the Korean Conflict, he was an officer with the Korean Military Advisory Group U.S.A. (KMAG) attached to the 2nd Korean Division (White Horse) R.O.K. He had also served on the staff of the U.S. Army Artillery Center, Ft. Sill, OK. He was retired from ALCOA, a member of Broadway Baptist Church and Alcoa Kiwanis Club. He was a graduate of Maryville College. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Britton Chambers; daughter, Sharon Kay Chambers; and parents, James Phillip and Zora Chambers.
