She was a member of Alcoa First Baptist Church. preceded in death by: parents, C.C. and Matilda "Mae" Hatcher; husband, Paul Flynn; sisters, Maude Hartress, Mildred Miller, Sarah, Margie, and Sophia Hatcher; brothers, Benton, Martin, and Carter Hatcher. Sanford 'Pudge' Garrett
Sanford "Pudge" Garrett, age 65 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was of the Baptist Faith and a lifelong carpenter and craftsman. He was preceded in death by father, Lester Garrett; mother, Johnnie Keathley; step mother, Bessie Garrett Ridge; brother, Birch; and sister, Estella Garrett. Survivors include loving wife of 44 years, Deloris Garrett; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Randy Franklin of Maryville; grandchildren, Aaron and Heather Franklin, who were very special to him; brothers and sister-in-law, Jim and Ruth Garrett of Ohio, Steve Garrett and Jack Lawson both of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and John Gidley of Porto Rico, Margaret and Harry Farmer, Marie and Ronnie Downey, Virginia Lawson and Dorothy Lawson all of Maryville; several nieces and nephews and a lot of loving friends and his buddy, Taco. John (J.C.) Keller
John (J. C.), Keller, age 63 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday morning, October 20, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a retiree from ALCOA with 32 years of service and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Club. He was an avid woodworker and will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Sarah Keller; sister, Olive Keller; brother, Dexter Keller; and granddaughter, Kelsey Arp.
Survivors include his loving wife, Geri Keller; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Kim Keller; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and David Arp; grandchildren, Trevor and Hannah Keller and Emily and Laura Arp; brothers, Don and Harold Keller; sisters, Ruth McDonald and Evelyn Stuart.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Grandview cemetery with Rev. Rex Everett officiating.

Irene W. McManigal, age 79 of Maryville died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was a member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church for 38 years. She was an active bridge player and a member of the Almost Dead Poet's Society. preceded in death by: husband, Herbert L. McManigal; sister, Sue Duncan. Survivors include: son, Jim McManigal of Alcoa, TN; daughter, Jill McManigal of Rockford, TN; grandson, Dan McManigal of Alcoa; brother, Richard Wood of Massena, NY; sister, Pauline Wood of Elyria, OH. Mary Charles Sparks, age 86 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at Fairpark Healthcare Center. She was a life-long member of Armona Baptist Church where she was active in the Choir and WMU. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin "Gator" Sparks; sisters, Mildred Stevens, Virginia Tungate, Georgia Lane, Jeannette Watkins; brother, James "Red" Sturgeon.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Sparks and wife Adele; granddaughter, Angie Menken and husband Phil; grandson, Dennis Sparks, Jr. and wife Missy; great-grandchildren, David and Olivia Blankenbecker all of Maryville; sister, Pat Harp of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Geneva Sturgeon of Maryville; brother-in-law, Ronald Sparks and wife Jean; sisters-in-law, Faye Copeland and Alice Carpenter all of Knoxville; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Bobby Lawson and Dr. Bruce Yates officiating.

Lizzie Effler Ledbetter Tipton of Townsend, passed away Thursday morning October 21, 2004 at Fairpark Nursing Home. She was a member of Tuckaleechee Primitive Baptist Church. She was retired from Townsend school cafeteria. preceded in death by: first husband, Ira Ledbetter; second husband, Robert Tipton; parents, Harrison and Daisey Effler; brothers, Ottis and Jack Effler; sisters, Zella McClanahan, Cordia Buchanan; infant daughter, Juanita; son-in-law, Jack Webb.

Alonzo M. 'Jake' Gardner, age 72 of Maryville died Friday, October 22, 2004 at home. He was of the Methodist Faith and was a Christian man. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Jake had a passion for golf and loved pitching horseshoes. He was a retired Feeder Mechanic for a Glass Manufacturing Company for Owens Illinois in Bridgeton, NJ after 30 years of service. Then he worked for Woodruff Energy until retirement to Spruce Creek Golf Community in Summerville, FL. preceded in death by: Father, James M. Gardner. Survivors include: Wife of 49 years, Joy Estilow Gardner; Sons and Daughters-in-law, James M. Sr. & Theresa Gardner of Maryville and Thomas M. LISA HEATON
Lisa Marie Smallman Feathers Heaton, 36, of 4839 Fort Henry Drive, Kingsport died from cancer Monday evening, October 18, 2004 at her residence. Lisa was the mother of Michael Anthony Feathers of Blountville, TN. and the daughter of Cindi Smallman Wilson and Douglas H. Wilson of Johnson City, TN.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, USAF Major H. W. (Bill) Smallman. Her maternal grandparents Bill and Vivian Coward of Maryville, TN and her paternal grandparents Herbert and Winnie Smallman of Knoxville, TN.
Her passing from this earth to her heavenly home is celebrated by her entire extended family including, son Michael Feathers, parents Cindi and Doug Wilson, her brother and sister-in-law U.S. Army SGT Seth Alan Smallman and Lois Bennett Smallman, their sons Isaac and Alfred presently stationed in Baumholder, Germany and their daughter Morgan Smallman of Jonesborough, TN; her sister in love Julie Wilson Kern and husband Matt Kern, their children Hayden and Kaitlyn of Atlanta, GA; her brother in love Steven Wilson of Gautier, MS; Uncle David and Aunt Marie Coward Blackwell, their children David & Jill Blackwell Johnson and Rodger & Beth Blackwell Hardiman of Murfreesboro, TN; Uncle Mark and Aunt Debbie Coward, daughters Julie and Mandy of Maryville, TN; and her great-aunt Dr. Connie Mynatt of Johnson City, TN.
In addition to her business accomplishments, Lisa's greatest joy was her son Michael and her salvation through Jesus Christ. Cancer taught her that life is just a fleeting moment and that true happiness and joy can only be found when trusting and serving our Lord and Savior. It was her desire that her friends and family celebrate with her this wondrous gift of eternal life available to us all.
A memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church, Johnson City, TN conducted by Dr. Ron Murray. A date and time will be confirmed later depending upon the arrival of her brother Seth and his family from Germany.

MILLIE PRATER `TAZZ' BARTON
Millie Prater (Tazz) Barton, age 97, of Alcoa, went Home to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2004 at Rest Heritage Manor in Flint, MI, with her family by her side.
Mrs. Barton was born June 15, 1907 in Maryville, Tennessee, the daughter of Elbert and Millie Henley Prater. She was long-time resident of Alcoa. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Mother Love Baptist Church, Dr. Lorrin Harris, Pastor. Upon moving to Flint 4 years ago, she united with New Heaven Baptist Church under Watch Care membership, Fred S. White, Pastor.
In 1925 Millie married
Charles Barton. Eleven children were born to this union. He preceded her in death in 1953. She was also preceded in death by parents, 5 sisters, 6 brothers and 3 sons, Charles Jr., Willliam and Donald Barton; son-in-law Joseph Manuel Jr. and daughter-in-law Mary Barton.
'Granny Barton' was everyone's Granny and will be remembered for her pound cakes, quilts, piano playing and her genuine love of all God's children.
She leaves to cherish her memory by eight children, Trula Long-caregiver, and Alvin (Jamesy) Barton of Alcoa, Tennessee; Barkley (Wanda) Barton of Knoxville; Andrew (Linda) Barton of Bakersfield, CA; Fred (Mary) Barton of New Bern, NC; Sanford Barton of Watonga, OK; Brenda - caregiver (Carl) Calhoun and Barbara Manuel - caregiver of Flint, MI; daughters-in-law, Michela Barton of OK and Leslie Barton of Maryville, TN; 45 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; special nieces, Arlene Brabson, Annie Welch, Bessie Pittard, all of Alcoa; nephew, Lloyd Cox of Atlanta, GA; a host of other nieces and nephews; close friends, Trula Hudson and Margaret White, both of Alcoa.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 12 noon at Rest Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Turney officiating. Family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Foothills Funeral Home Maryville in Charge.

Franklin D. (Frank) Blair, Jr., age 48 of Vonore, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2004. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin D. and Gladys Blair; grandparents, Charles and Mary Blair and Howard and Margaret Clark.
Survivors include his brother, Neil Blair of Madisonville; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Linda Blair of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kelly and Reed Thompson of Tellico Plains, and Dianne and Greg Smith of Vonore; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Timothy Blair, Anthony, Matthew, and Josh Moser, Cheyenne, Dakota, Montana and Brandson Thompson; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Obie Campbell officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday at New Hope Cemetery, Acorn Gap Road, in Madisonville for the interment service.
