Rosey Braden Caughron, age 80, of Rockford, passed away Sunday morning, September 19, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was retired from Blount Memorial Hospital and also a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, J.B. Caughron; three grandchildren, Tammy Swiney, Missy Kerr and Jimmy Lee Irwin; five brothers and four sisters.
She was survived by loving children, Helen and David McGill, Reba Kerr, Lester Caughron, Halley and Jimmy Irwin, Trula and Richard Reagan, Darcus and Dennis Lee, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Lacretia Kerr Holbert, Tommy Kerr, Jeff and Tim Caughron, Felishia Caughron Coada, Tamika Moore Coomer and Margaret Smiley; beloved great-grandchildren, Jordan Arnold Draven and Austin Coada, Jacob and Justin Kerr, Tracie and Megan Caughron, Richie and Cheyenne Smiley and baby boy Caughron; foster children, Charles Roberts, Randy and Wesley Snyder of Lake City, adopted son Ronnie Orrick of Rutledge; brother, Isaac Braden of Briceville; special nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Clark's Grove Cemetery, Rev. Lonnie Swiney officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

JOHN ROBERT `J.R.' OR `PAP' GARNER
John Robert 'J.R.' or 'Pap' Garner, age 77, of Maryville, passed away Saturday morning, September 18, 2004, at his home, after losing his battle with cancer. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company, a veteran of World War II. preceded in death by parents, Robert and Rebecca Garner; and brother, Raymond Garner.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Bernice Garner; children, Vickie and James Fagg, Jerry and Janice Garner, Glenda and Steve Beasley and Randy and Cindy Garner, all of Maryville; grandchildren and spouses, Allen and Brandy Fagg, Kristi and Mike Combs, Jason Fagg and fiancée Jennifer Hartford, Chelsea Garner, Shelley Fagg, Julie Garner, Ryan Garner and Eli Garner; great-grandchildren, Alisa, Jacob and Isaiah Fagg and Brandon and Kalynn Combs; brother, Tommy Garner of Walland; sisters, Willie McCaulley, Vertie White, Janie Martin, Opal 'Toots' Tipton and Betty 'Boots' Potter, all of Maryville; many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2004, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Greg Long, Rev. Carl White and Rev. Wayne Sexton officiating. Interment service and graveside 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blount Memorial Hospice. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

SHARON GILES
Sharon Giles, age 52, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cam and Nerve Hammontree. Survivors include her husband, Richard Giles; and son, Jerry Ray Giles of South Korea with USAF. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Smith Mortuary Chapel. The service will follow at 8:00 p.m. The family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Methodist Church cemetery in Greenback for the interment. LESTER BOYD CUMMINGS
Lester Boyd Cummings, age 72, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2004, at his residence. He was retired from Cummings Gas Service. He was a former member of Macedonia Baptist Church and attended Buffalo Trail Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and a member of Clinchview Golf Club. preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Audley Cummings; brother, Rev. Bob Cummings. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Sandra Cummings; sons, Tim Cummings of Morristown, Jeffrey Cummings of Morristown, David Cummings of Straw Plains, Michael (Jennifer) Cummings of Whitesburg; daughter, Sherry (Buddy) Sams of Talbott; grandchildren, Jonathan, Jordan, and Catherine Sams, Stephanie Soppett, Amanda Cummings, Cassie Cummings; step-grandson, Chris Roper; great-grandchild, Kaiden Soppet; brother, Rev. Earl Cummings; sister, Sue Davis; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Adams and the Rev. R. J. Seals officiating. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens. FRANK SPENCER MASON
Frank Spencer Mason, age 76, of Advance, North Carolina, formerly of Moreland Heights community Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem N.C. Mr. Mason was retired from National Linen Service after forty-three and a half years of service. He was preceded in death by: wife, Nona Kirkland Mason; parents, Fred B. and Ruby Dailey Mason; and brothers, Estel 'Jack' A. Mason and W. Lynn Mason; brother-in-law, Eugene Long. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Debbie Mason of Slidell, LA; daughter Judith Wrenne Mason of Los Alamos, NM; grandchildren and spouses, Candace and Bobby Hoskins and Christina and Barry Keeny all of Los Alamos, NM, Jesse, Amanda, Marcy Mason, and Amy and Al of Slidell, LA; great-grandchildren, Will and Mason Hoskins of Los Alamos, NM; sisters, Caroline Long of Seymour, Betty J. McCurry of Knoxville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Helen Mason of Gaffney, South Carolina, Gary W. and Nancy Mason of Knoxville; numerous nieces and nephews. JACKIE SAMUEL COLE
Jackie Samuel Cole, age 72 of Maryville died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the George Washington Masonic Lodge in Alexandria, VA. He retired as a Tech Sergeant from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service and was a member of the American Legion Post 13. preceded in death by brothers, Kermit and Tommy Cole both of Turtletown, TN; grandson, Chad Kirby. Survivors include, wife of 52 years, Amelia Cole; son, Jack Cole, Jr. of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ken Arp of Maryville; grandchildren, Brandon Cole Wilson, April Cole, and Alicia Cole; step-grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Arp; great-granddaughter, Autumn Marie Wilson; brothers, Robert Cole of Turtletown, TN, Billy and Kay Cole and Buddy Cole all of Cleveland, TN; sister, Margaret Houser of Knoxville. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. David Hutsell officiating. The Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. CHRISTOPHER LEE GILES
Christopher Lee Giles, age 30 of Maryville died Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He enjoyed football (Atlanta Falcons), playing X-Box games, and spending time on his motorcycle. He loved being a baseball coach for his son. preceded in death by: grandparents, J R Giles and Audrey Cantrell Giles, Ann Snyder and Ells Worth J. Snyder. Survivors include: Son, Courtland Cain Giles and his mother Kelly Moore; step-brother, Justin Sena; father, Danny Giles of Maryville; mother, Christina A. Sena of Washington; sister, Brandy Giles of AL; uncles, Sanford Giles, Andrew Snyder, Jerry Giles, Harold Snyder, Richard Giles; aunts, Sonia Snyder, Deborah Snyder; special friends, Mike Melfi, James and Cindy Reno, Ralph Harvey, Randy Boone and many cousins and other family and friends. JIMMIE RUTH LOVEDAY
Jimmie Ruth Loveday, age 75 of Maryville passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She retired from the University of Tennessee in 1996, where she held fond memories of the many students she met over the years, many of whom kept in touch with her. Jimmie was the adopted mom for her daughter's bowling team (Candis, Cindy and Debbie) where they made several trips a year. On her many trips to Atlanta she maneuvered through downtown traffic like a pro. She attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. preceded in death by: husband, Lester L. Loveday; infant son, Philip; parents, Jim and Jessie Stephens. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ray O'Connor of Acworth, GA; son, Victor Lynn Loveday Sr.; grandson, Victor Lynn Loveday Jr.; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Ivan Loveday & India all of Maryville; many other relatives and friends including, cousins, Bernice Headrick, Ann Leonard, and Francis Myers; niece and husband, Alma and Kenneth Williams; friend, Cindy Blanchard; part-time companion, Maxx. All are invited to attend the graveside service and entombment at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. KATHLEEN REED MILLSAPS
Kathleen Reed Millsaps, age 94 of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Mease Hospital in Dunedin, FL. She was a member of Magna Charta Dames, Plantagenant Society and other historical societies. She was a Pink Lady at Blount Memorial Hospital for many years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Clearwater.
Mrs. Millsaps was preceded in death by her husband, Gentry E. Millsaps.
Survivors include: daughter, Joy M. Kelly of Huntsville, AL; grandson, John W. Kelly of Nashville, TN; sister, Dorothy Whetsell of Morristown, TN; and several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home and then proceed to Grandview cemetery for a 3:00 p.m. graveside service.

TED WILLIAMS
Ted Williams, age 63 of Maryville, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at his home, 1424 Anderson Ave.
Preceded in death by parents, Olin B. and Elizabeth Williams. preceded in death by brothers, James and Fred Lee; sisters, Evelyn and Janie Mae. Survivors, wife, Martha Williams; sons, Theodore, Timothy, Todd and Thomas; daughters, Gina and Jada; brothers, Odell, Charles, Olin, David; sisters, Betty, Joann, Madge and Brenda of Columbus, Ohio. Survivors include grandchildren, Chastadee, Lauren, Erica, Nickol, Justin, Ryan, Todd, Christopher, Bryston; J'veynne; and many more nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 1201 Middlesettlements Rd., Maryville, TN at 3:00 p.m. Brother Gerald Johnson officiating. Ted Williams was a good father and a dedicated member of Jehovah's Witness for 42 years and will be dearly missed.

ALEXANDER, MABEL B.,
Mabel B. Alexander, age 90, of Greenback, passed away Friday, September 24, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church and preceded in death by husband, Charles T. Alexander; son, David Eugene Alexander; parents, David and Beulah Griffin; infant brother, Sammy Griffin. Survivors include children and spouses, Kathleen Johnson of Atlanta, Vera Mae Mainor of California, Ethel Bumbalough of California, Tom and Alice Alexander of Greenback, Mary and James Scott of Louisville, Linda and Richard Chambers of Maryville, and Shelia and Ed Mason of Maryville; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

MYRTLE ANN BROWN
Myrtle Ann Brown, age 59, of Louisville, passed away Monday, September 27, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a loving mother and wife, was a very giving person with a very caring and tender heart. She was compassionate and loved to make people happy and feel loved, she was gentle and understanding and was very special to all of us and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Junior Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Brown of Louisville; daughter, Vanessa Lazarus of England; son, Mitchell Jackson of Georgia; stepchildren, Michael Brown of Maryville, Donny Brown of Georgia, Bobby Ray Brown of Copper Hill, and Carrie Pierce of Georgia; 15 grandchildren; mother, Betty R. Smith of Louisville; brothers, Roy Smith and Glenn Smith, both of Louisville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Davis officiating. The interment will follow in Friends cemetery in Friendsville.

ARTHUR FRANK `TARHEEL' DAVIDSON
Arthur Frank 'Tarheel' Davidson, age 89, of Hunt Road, Maryville, died Sunday, September 26, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company and was a member of their 25-Year Club. preceded in death by: wife, Vernie Lee Davidson; infant daughter; four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, James and Gayle Davidson of Columbia, Glen and Lula Davidson of Atlanta, Ga., Rev. Gary and Cindy Davidson of Maryville, Larry and Phyllis Davidson of Manchester; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Don Gibson of Maryville; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2004, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Danny Davis officiating. Family and friends will assemble for the interment at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at Grandview Cemetery. RUTH NAOMI QUILLEN DYER
Ruth Naomi Quillen Dyer, age 67, of Greenback, passed away Monday morning, September 27, 2004, after an eight-month battle with lung cancer. She was a member of Upper Shady Grove Baptist Church in Greenback. Ruth was best known for her piano playing in several churches and for the Antioch Quartet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarvin Archivee Dyer; parents, Ira and Blanche Quillen; sisters, Hazel Vineyard, Kathleen Hammontree; brother, Earl Quillen; nephew, Tony Vineyard.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Rev. William and Vickie Dyer of Greenback; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Rev. Mike Arp of Friendsville; grandchildren, Krista and Anthony Dyer, Caleb and Daniel Arp; brothers, Robert Quillen and Gene Quillen, both of Lenoir City; sisters, Margaret McNeeley of Jacksonville, Fla., and Shirley Pratt of Corryton; special great-nieces, Kayla and Heather Cargile; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie White, Rev. Robert Watkins and Rev. Jimmy Riner officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home to proceed to Friendship Baptist cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service with Rev. John Russell, Rev. Bob Kirkland and Rev. Dean Bandy officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, at Friendship Baptist Church, 3310 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville. All ministers and deacons are asked to be Honorary Pall Bearers.
