Edith Word Breeden 'Granny' Hodge, age 85 of Knoxville died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the family home. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Carson Breeden; second husband, Stanley Hodge; parents, Robert and Nolia Word; sons, Don Word of Maryville and Larry Word of FL; daughter, Norma Jean Word; brothers, Kenneth and Robert Word; sisters, Hazel Dean Word, Louise Withrow, June Teffeteller and Ruth Russell. Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Carl Cole of Knoxville; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Essie Word of FL, Lester and Sharon Word of Maryville, Harold and Trudy Word of Maryville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Word of IN; sister, Stacey Russell of Maryville. Funeral service will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2004 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Ronnie Dotson officiating. CECIL L. CABLE
Cecil L. Cable, age 70 of Maryville, passed away Monday, September 20, 2004. He was the son of the late Charlie and Nellie Swift Cable, originally from Fontana, NC. He worked for ALCOA for 34 years at several plant locations, finishing his career in accounting in Pittsburgh. He was a church pianist at several churches in Blount and Knox counties over the years, beginning at age 15. He was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church.
Mr. Cable was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charlie and Nellie Swift Cable; grandparents, Harvey and Delia Grant Swift, Kie and Nancy Cline Cable; brothers, Clarence, Verlin and Kenneth; sisters, Maudie Bowers and Nina Williams.
Survivors include his daughter and husband, Janine and Lee Stinnett; sons and their spouses, Danny and Pattie Cable, Bryan and DeeDee Cable, Tim and Ann Cable; seven grandchildren, Mandy, Jeremy, Jennifer, Katie, Zach, Allie and Adam; mother of his children, ex-wife and friend, Shirley Cable; brothers and their spouses, J. C. Cable and Crystal from Oak Ridge and Hubert Cable and Jo from Fontana.
A private graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, in Grandview Mausoleum with Rev. Lucille Potter Vickers officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross to aid hurricane victims, 300 E. Church Avenue, Maryville, TN 37804.

KATHRYN LONG COATNEY
Kathryn Long Coatney, age 87 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Joe A. Coatney.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Allen 'Chigger' Wilson of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Edward and Judy Coatney of Maryville; grandchildren, Joey Wilson and fiancé Janet Collins, Scott Coatney and wife Melissa, Cindy Coatney; great-grandchildren, Lars Coatney and Beau Collins; sister, Nellie Graves of Maryville; brother, Gene Long of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russ Maples and Rev. Robert Watkins officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Clark's Grove cemetery for the interment service.

Major Glenn Keith, Sr., age 72 of Maryville passed away Tuesday morning, September 21, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Member of Laurel Bank Baptist Church. Retired from ALCOA Aluminum Co. Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. preceded in death by parents, Major R. and Bonnie Campbell Keith; brother, Lonnie Dean Keith; nephew, Jacob Wright.
Survivors, son and daughter-in-law, Major Glenn Jr. 'Bones' and Della Mae Keith of Maryville; grandson, Christopher Glenn Keith; great-grandson, Christopher Glenn Keith Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Allen Wright of Friendsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon Lee Sr. and Ruth Keith of Maryville, James David and Judy Keith of Indiana; several nieces and nephews.

Jessie Hill Lambert, age 90, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Hospital. She was a member of Marble Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lambert; parents, Randolph and Janive Albright Hill; brothers, Athes, Edward and Jasper Earl Hill; sister, Fern Hale.
Survivors include her children, Norman Lambert and Mark and Suzanne Lambert; grandchildren, Neal Lambert, Jessica Lambert Chandler and Kevin Chandler; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Cierra Chandler; sisters, Della Adra Prows and Vina Jane Miller of New Tazewell; several nieces and nephews; special family friend, Gladys McNeilly and family.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Ross officiating. The interment service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Big Springs Presbyterian Cemetery.

Laura Bell West, 73, of Maryville, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Cas Hamilton and Jody West; infant son, Johnny Ballard Hamilton; parents, Willard and Betsey Collier Stanley; brother, Howard Stanley; stepdaughter, Susie Crest.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Tex and Judy Hamilton of Knoxville, Rex and Anne Hamilton, Jack Hamilton, Cas and Rita Hamilton, David and Ruby Hamilton, Elmer and Tammy Hamilton, Reva and Stephen Lane, Lora and Donnie Shular, Shelia O'Neal and Gary Dixon all of Maryville; stepchildren, Dean Hamilton, Gail Patterson, Becky Russell, Bobby Kelsey, Rosemary and Andy Anderson all of Roan County; brothers, Otis Stanley of Ohio, Bill Stanley of Virginia; sisters, Lois Tveit and Lorraine Charles both of Florida; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Nellie Yearout Caughron, age 88, of Maryville, died Saturday, September 18, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Caughron, November 15, 1978. She was a member of Gray Ridge Baptist Church, where she taught the Ladies Bible Class and was a member of the church choir. She has been a Bible teacher for nearly 65 years, having taught in camp meetings in Georgia and North Carolina. She has taught hundreds of boys and girls here in Blount County. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Benji Morgan of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Mary Caughron of Austell, Ga.; grandchildren, David and Sheryl Morgan of McDonald, Pa.; Robyn and Roger Maler of Cartersville, Ga.; Billy and Tanya Caughron of Auburn, Ga.; James Caughron of Maryville; Dee Dee and Tony Smith of Etowah; Paula and Loren Burrell of Acworth, Ga., and Danny Freeman of Austell, Ga.; great-grandchildren, David James and Crystal Morgan of McDonald, Pa.; Tiffany, Benji and Nycki Maler of Cartersville, Ga.; Candace and Nicholas Smith of Etowah and Danielle Caughron of Auburn, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Dorothy Yearout; several nieces and nephews. ROSEY BRADEN CAUGHRON
Rosey Braden Caughron, age 80, of Rockford, passed away Sunday morning, September 19, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was retired from Blount Memorial Hospital and also a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, J.B. Caughron; three grandchildren, Tammy Swiney, Missy Kerr and Jimmy Lee Irwin; five brothers and four sisters.
She was survived by loving children, Helen and David McGill, Reba Kerr, Lester Caughron, Halley and Jimmy Irwin, Trula and Richard Reagan, Darcus and Dennis Lee, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Lacretia Kerr Holbert, Tommy Kerr, Jeff and Tim Caughron, Felishia Caughron Coada, Tamika Moore Coomer and Margaret Smiley; beloved great-grandchildren, Jordan Arnold Draven and Austin Coada, Jacob and Justin Kerr, Tracie and Megan Caughron, Richie and Cheyenne Smiley and baby boy Caughron; foster children, Charles Roberts, Randy and Wesley Snyder of Lake City, adopted son Ronnie Orrick of Rutledge; brother, Isaac Braden of Briceville; special nieces and nephews.

BRENDA SUE COOPER
Brenda Sue Cooper, age 53, of Madisonville entered into eternal rest 8:30 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2004 at her home. She was born November 29, 1950 to the late George and Grace Carringer. She received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized as a young girl at Calvary Baptist Church in Alcoa, where she walked back and forth to church. She lived everyday of her life serving others in various ways, including operating her own non-profit child care center, named Brenda's Day Care Center, Inc., and volunteering with the Girl and Boy Scouts of America. Above all, she loved her family most. She was a breast cancer survivor and had been courageously fighting ovarian cancer for over a year.
Preceded in death by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gena and Elmer Cooper.
Survivors: husband of over 34 years, Freddie Lee Cooper; her children, Jon Cooper and wife Kimm Cooper, Jennifer 'Candi' Bolix and Josh Cooper, all of Madisonville; grandchildren, Matthew, MacKenzie, Megan and Jace; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Barbara Carringer, Madisonville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl and Brenda Miller, of Vonore, Johnny and Margie Swabe, of Madisonville; several nieces and nephews as well as numerous family members from North Carolina.

William Paul Stinnett, age 79, of Hammond, IN, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2004, at home. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was born and raised in Tennessee and was an avid VOLS fan. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Mary Sue Chastain Stinnett; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Brenda Stinnett of Knoxville, TN, Tony and Vicki Stinnett of Owensboro, KY, Mike and Becki Stinnett of Highland, IN, Tim and Tina Stinnett of Munster, IN; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Klain West of Highland, IN; grandchildren, Hope Lacey, Elizabeth Stinnett, Amy Bremer, Jill and David Bartlett, Jennifer Waddell, William, Sarah, Michael, Suzanne and Kristen Stinnett, Jerry and Phillip Patrick and Jonathan Stinnett; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Wallace and Mary Lanter, both of TN. He was preceded in death by daughter, Peggy Cameon; brother, Bob Stinnett; and sister, Inez Jaynes. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 21, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 9516 Kennedy Ave., Highland, IN, with pastors Edward Moore and Charles Sartin officiating. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation was on Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd., Highland, IN. Paul was a retired Minister and gifted carpenter who helped build several church buildings and served many congregations locally and in East Tennessee. He was a generous man who offered a helping hand to anyone in need. His loving kindness and great sense of humor will be missed by all.

Mildred Plemons Barnette, age 70, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Sweetwater after a lengthy illness. preceded in death by her parents, Walter B. and Margaret Pardue Plemons, and a brother, Hal Plemons. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sweetwater.
Survivors: daughters, Kathy Badgett Kyker of Sweetwater and Jane 'Kelly' Calloway Webb of Nashville; son, Warren Clark Barnette of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Jennifer Badgett of Cleveland, John Clark Badgett of Maryville, James Thomas Badgett of Sweetwater and Claire Webb and Maggie Webb, both of Nashville; sisters, Edna Ruth Plemons and Martha P.
