Lela Frances Burnett, age 100 of Maryville, passed away Monday, September 6, 2004 at Asbury Place. She was a member of Logan's United Methodist Church. She was a principal and teacher at the school in Cades Cove before it became a part of the National Park. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Burnett Sr.; parents, John and Lila Clabough; brother, Rex Clabough; sisters, Beulah Gray and Ina Teffeteller. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Willie Burnett of Maryville, Burl Jr. (Sonny) and Maxine Burnett of Maryville; grandchildren, Gary Burnett of Columbus, Oh, Rodney Burnett of Scottsdale, AZ, Timothy Burnett of Maryville, Shaun Burnett of Woodsfield, OH, Shirley Stinnett and husband, Steve Stinnett of Maryville and Mary Jane Burnett of Etowah; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, John Jr. and Virginia Clabough of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Navada and Mayford Clark of Maryville; sister-in-law, Ruth Clabough of Maryville; special friend, Hattie Norton of Maryville; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2004 at Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery for graveside service and interment with Rev. Ann Robbins and Rev. Ronnie Longmire officiating. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Burnett to Logan's Chapel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 4626 Logan's Chapel Loop, Maryville, TN 37804. LOWELL M. CHURCHMAN
Lowell M. Churchman, age 67 of Jefferson City, TN went to his heavenly home on September 7, 2004 at Hillcrest North. He was a member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church and a member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge #728 FA&M, a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. preceded in death by his father, Clyde L. Churchman; and sister, Evelyn Watkins. Survived by daughters, Cheryl Bowling of Erin, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Gregg McAskill of Cumberland City, TN, Stephanie and Bob Bakos of Johnston, PA; grandchildren, Sarah and Elizabeth McAskill; mother, Edna Churchman of New Market; brother and sister-in-law, John R. and Edith Churchman of Alcoa, TN; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2004 at Rocky Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Dwayne Whittington and Reverend John R. Churchman officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Sunday School class of Rocky Valley Baptist Church. Fredrick Reece Clark, age 77, of Maryville, went to be with the Lord, Monday morning, September 6, 2004, at his home. He was a wonderful husband and a great father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed. He served in the Navy in the 1940s and retired from TVA. preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Thomas Clark and Cordia McMillan Clark; sisters, Ethel Starritt, Pearl Huffstetler, Violet Hall and Edna Caylor; and brothers, Earl and Floyd Clark. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Johnnie Maxine Bolinger Clark; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Gene Lemons of Greenback and Nancy and Burkett Spiva of Maryville; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Eileen Clark of Colorado and Ron and Sandie Clark of Friendsville; grandchildren and spouses, Susan and husband Mike Tipton of Kingsport, Michael and wife Melanie Lemons of Greenback, Jennifer Clark, Michelle Clark, Matthew and wife Jessica Clark of Maryville, Earl and wife Lacey Jenkins of Friendsville, Kelly Clark of Colorado, Carol and husband Randy Ensor of Maryville, and Jay and wife April Cornwell of Friendsville; great-grandchildren, Kayla Tipton, Megan and Katelin Lemons; sisters, Mary Ellen Gregory of Florida and Jessie Heaton of Indiana; several nieces and nephews. BILLY RAY HATCHER
Hatcher, Billy Ray, age 50, of Stockbridge, Georgia, formerly of Blount County, passed away Saturday evening, September, 4, 2004 at the Southern Regional Medical Center in Clayton County, Georgia. preceded in death by: his son, Scottie; brother, Jonas; father, Johnny Edward Hatcher; grandparents, Burl and Myrtle Hatcher, Woodrow and Laura Sparks. Survivors: mother and stepfather, Gaynell and Lamar Head of Georgia; wife, Mary Franklin of Georgia; Billy is the beloved father of Shawn Roberts, Kelly Hatcher, Amanda Hatcher, Betty Ann Hatcher, Jamie (Skipper) Hatcher, B.J. Hatcher and Jennifer Hatcher. He was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Tommy and Flossie Hatcher of Maryville, Johnny and Betty Hatcher of Maryville, Jackie and Lisa Hatcher of Maryville, Leonard and Kathy Hatcher of Georgia, Randy Hatcher of Georgia, and Jimmy Hatcher of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law Myrtle (Cissey)and Gregory Mendoza of Georgia; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at the Sparks Family cemetery in Townsend at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004 for graveside service and interment, Rev. Fate Green officiating. Shirley Burchfield Jackson, age 43 of Maryville died Sunday September 5, 2004 at U.T. Hospital. She was of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by an infant brother. She is survived by her parents: Burgess and Mallie Garrett Burchfield; children: Steve and Tammy Sparks of Maryville, Stacy Burchfield of Newport; grandchildren: Tommy, Travis, and Samantha Sparks; companion: Doyle Tipton; brothers: Buddy, Don, Marlie Burchfield, Ernest and Gail Burchfield, Clarence and Carolyn Burchfield; sisters: Velma Cogburn, Joanne Pegg, Wilma and Tom Sparks, Charlotte and Denver Hunt, Darlene and Jim Martin, Jeanette and Scott Curtis, Norma Gribble all of Maryville, Christine Fender of Tellico Plains; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville with Rev. Ronnie Burchfield officiating. WOODROW WILSON
Woodrow Wilson, age 92 of Maryville passed away Monday, September 6, 2004 at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. He was a devoted member of Morning Star Baptist Church. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company in 1974. preceded in death by: parents, James Mitchell and Rachel Wilson and eleven siblings. Survivors include: wife of 66 years, Eula Baxter Wilson; sons, James Delmar and wife Lela of Seymour, Franklin Delano and wife Barbara of Maryville, David and wife Donna of Friendsville; sister-in-law, Mrs. Howard (Johnnie) York of Powell; grandchildren, Cheryl Long of Frederick, Maryland, Emily Wilson of Elgin, IL, Diane Brown of Lenoir City, Mike Wilson of Maryville, Beth Wilson of Maryville, Zack Wilson of Friendsville, Chaz Wilson of Friendsville; 2 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Those who knew him best loved him as "Mr. Joke-man." Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2004 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Ronnie Buchanan and Rev. Ed V. Braden 'Pop, ' age 98 of Maryville passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2004 a U.T. Medical Center. preceded in death by 6 sisters and 10 brothers.
Survived by his wife, Beatrice Braden; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Vonda Braden, W. REBA A. CORNETT
Reba A. Cornett, age 90 of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. She was a member of South Knoxville Baptist Church. preceded in death by husband, James H. Cornett; parents, Charles and Dalena Hinton Brown; and brother, Charles M. Brown. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Glenda Cornett; grandsons, Keith and wife, Trina Cornett, Glen Cornett, Scott and wife, Rachel Cornett; great-grandchildren, Kelsi and Caleb Cornett; sisters, Frances Brown and Ruth Vineyard. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Rick Phipps officiating. JAMES HARDIN DAVIS
James Hardin Davis, age 64 of Lenoir City, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 1:20 a.m. at his home after losing his battle with lung cancer. He retired as Vice-President of Cash Management at First Tennessee Bank after 30 + years of service. He was recently baptized by Rev. Kenneth Carpenter of First Apostolic Church of Maryville. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, cooking and vacationing with family at Navarre Beach. He was preceded in death by his father, Reid F. Davis. Survived by his wife of 41 years, Dortha Smith Davis; two daughters, Jamie Davis and Fiancee', Joe Roberts, Amy Cook and husband, David Cook; mother, Martha Davis of MS.; sisters, Reida Hayes and husband, Nick of N.C., Sarah Wood and husband, Richard of MS.; brother, Charles Davis and wife, Bonnie of MS.; grandchildren, Kaelyn, Kalley and Kara Cook; several nieces and nephews. Many thanks to family, friends, Covenant Hospice and Home Health for all their love and support. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Click-Hawkins Chapel, 102 B Street, Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Click-Hawkins Chapel with Rev. NOLAN SR., TERRANCE ALBERT
NOLAN SR., TERRANCE ALBERT, 63, Cookeville, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was retired.
Survivors: wife, Jeanne Louise (Peden) Nolan, Cookeville; daughter, Suzanne M. Nolan, Maryville; sons, Terrance A. Nolan Jr., Chicago, Christopher Horton, Winter Haven, Fla., Joshua Horton, Norfolk, Va., Daniel A. Nolan, Maryville; sister, Mildred Comely, Pittsburgh; brothers, John Nolan, David Nolan, both of Pittsburgh; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Chapel-Whitson Funeral Home, Cookeville. Visitation will be 2 p.m. Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home.

PETE BAKER
Pete Baker, age 43 of Concord, son of Janie Baker and the late G.C. Baker, passed away Monday evening, September 13, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospice Center after a long courageous battle with cancer. In addition to his mother, Pete is survived by his partner and endless love, Beverly R. Cockrum, with whom he made his home, and their faithful dog Oscar; brother, Chuck Baker of Concord; sister, Nancy Rogers of Maryville, Claire, Cindy, Marsha and Mark all of Phoenix AZ. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. A graveside service will follow at the Union cemetery with Rev. LOWELL KIRKLAND
Lowell Kirkland, age 67, a resident of Locust Grove, GA died September 13, 2004. He was born in Lenoir City, TN, son of Alice and Roscoe Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland was formerly employed at Ford Motor Company, a member of the United Auto Workers Local #882 and a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
Mr. Kirkland is survived by his wife, Barbara Kirkland, Locust Grove; children, Lisa (Scot) Stieb, Senoia, Rhonda Kirkland, Stockbridge, Greg (Cindy) Kirkland, Stockbridge, Johnny (Linda) Kirkland, McDonough; mother, Alice Kirkland, Maryville, TN; sister, Evelyn Miller, Maryville, TN; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Calvin John McCarter, age 62 of Maryville, passed away Monday, September 13, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was of the Baptist Faith and custodian at Middlesteelements School. preceded in death by parents, Annie and Leander McCarter; and half sister, Mytha Mantooth. Survivors include his wife, Mary Heaton McCarter; son and daughter-in-law, Leander and Dena McCarter; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Jim Delaney; grandchildren, Travis, Brady, Tommy and Leah; sisters, Trula Green, Lou Green, Myrtle Ray, Iva Lundy, Crittie Krieger and Grace Bradley. JOHN M. MCMILLIAN
John M. McMillian, age 82 of Maryville died Monday, September 13, 2004 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. He was a former Real Estate Broker and employed by ALCOA. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #13. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army serving in WW II and the European Theater and was a recipient of the Battle Star for the Engagement of the Battle of the Bulge. preceded in death by parents, Carl and Grace Buttram McMillin; sister, Neva M. Giles; brother, M.F. McMillin. Survivors include wife Ada Swann McMillian; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy E. and Richard E. Stamps of Maryville; grandson, John M. Albright of Maryville; nieces, Jane A. Giles, Martha S. Giles, Mary Giles Ritchie, Deborah F. McMillin, Christine Giles; nephew, Robert J. Ritchie; great-nephew, Robby Ritchie; many cousins and friends. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Dr. Jerry Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
