Otho Loray Rose Self, age 70 of Maryville died Friday August 27, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a devoted Christian a loving mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents: Howard Hunt and Roseanna Kelley Rose; sister: Marjorie Lafaye Lowe; husband: Glenn F. Self. She is survived by her children: Frank and Jodi Self, Angela and Roger Yarbrough, Glenda and Bill Starritt all of Maryville, Allen Self and Peggy Festerling of Orlando, FL, Kay and Richard McCauley of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Branson and Michael Self, Josh Self, Nadea and Beason Layne, Chris and Tony Starritt, Andy Duncan, Shanna and Mark Manis, Daniel Daws; six great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Howard K. and Mary Rose of Birmingham, AL. Helen (Medich) Ullom, age 67 of Talbott, TN died Monday, August 30, 2004 at her daughter's home in Rockford, TN. She was born in South Bend, Indiana and graduated from Riley High School in 1955. Helen married
Bernie Ullom on August 31, 1957. She was a member of Panther Springs United Methodist Church. preceded in death by: husband, Bernard (Bernie) C. Ullom; father, George Medich; mother, Mary (Muriel) Medich; brothers, Nick Medich and Fred Medich; sister, Mildred Elliott. Survivors include: sons, Buddy Ullom and wife Robin of Cosby, TN and Matthew Ullom of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Mary Louise Brown and husband Tommy of Rockford, TN; grandchildren, Chad and Kristin Ullom and Spencer and Summer Brown; brothers, George Medich of Niles, MI; aisters, Betty Barker of South Bend, IN and Mary Rose of Valparaiso, IN. LURA GREGORY WILLIAMS
Lura Gregory Williams of Dillwyn, Virginia, died Saturday, July 24, 2004 following a massive stroke on July 14. She was born February 2, 1911 in Cades Cove, Tennessee. Her fondest memories were of her childhood there. She loved 'rambling' with her brothers and sisters. She was an avid gardener in her later years and was always surrounded by her beloved pets, which were a great comfort to her.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Marshall C. Jr., and Diana England of Richmond, Virginia and Billy K. and Carolyn England of Dillwyn, VA; two grandchildren, Terri and Kenneth England; four great-grandchildren, Rebekah, Bethany, Samantha and Kenneth all of Dillwyn; many nieces and nephews in Tennessee, whose loving kindness was greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Maryville, Tennessee.

WILLIAM A. VAN BLARCOM, JR.
William A. Van Blarcom, Jr., age 56, of Chadds Ford, Pa., died at home surrounded by his friends and family on Friday September 3, 2004, following a two-year battle with prostate cancer. Mr. Van Blarcom, called Bo by his family and closest friends, was the President of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra (DSO) of Wilmington, DE at the time of his death. Born in Patterson, N.J., the son of William A. Sr. and the late Jane (Whitman) Van Blarcom, he grew up in Sherborn, MA. He attended Mt. Hermon School in Greenfield, MA, and graduated from Dover-Sherborn High School. While living in Sherborn, he was an active volunteer fireman and an EMT with the rescue squad, and the owner of MacArthur's Market. A graduate of Boston University, he worked with Fidelity Investments in Boston, and later Maryland National Bank, Loyola Federal Credit Union, and Chase Manhattan in Baltimore, followed by MBNA and First USA in Wilmington, DE. At each of these, he served as Senior Vice President. Joining the Delaware Symphony Orchestra as Executive Director, he was later made President. At the DSO he instituted a variety of successful and well-received initiatives and collaborations. Fond of travel, food, cooking, and music of all kinds, he was known to all for his infinite sense of humor, and it was his humor that sustained him, and those around him throughout his illness. He is survived by his wife, Julie Wernick Van Blarcom; his father, William A. Sr., of Sherborn, MA; brothers, Kenneth W. of Sherborn, and Thomas B. Van Blarcom and his partner Manan Kanaratana, of Bangkok, Thailand; his nieces, Katherine and Elizabeth, and nephews, Nicholas and Samuel, all of Sherborn; his aunt, Carola Whitman Taylor of Washington, D.C.; and uncles, James Van Blarcom of MD., and Donald Van Blarcom of Tennessee; his brothers-in-law, Bill Wernick and Dan Gilbert of Baltimore, and his sister-in-law, Linda Wernick Cassell and her husband Charles I. Cassell of Washington, D.C. Lela Frances Burnett, age 100 of Maryville, passed away Monday, September 6, 2004 at Asbury Place. She was a member of Logan's United Methodist Church. She was a principal and teacher at the school in Cades Cove before it became a part of the National Park. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Burnett Sr.; parents, John and Lila Clabough; brother, Rex Clabough; sisters, Beulah Gray and Ina Teffeteller. Lowell M. Churchman, age 67 of Jefferson City, TN went to his heavenly home on September 7, 2004 at Hillcrest North. He was a member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church and a member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge #728 FA&M, a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. preceded in death by his father, Clyde L. Churchman; and sister, Evelyn Watkins. Fredrick Reece Clark, age 77, of Maryville, went to be with the Lord, Monday morning, September 6, 2004, at his home. He was a wonderful husband and a great father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed. He served in the Navy in the 1940s and retired from TVA. preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Thomas Clark and Cordia McMillan Clark; sisters, Ethel Starritt, Pearl Huffstetler, Violet Hall and Edna Caylor; and brothers, Earl and Floyd Clark. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company in 1974. preceded in death by: parents, James Mitchell and Rachel Wilson and eleven siblings. John H. (Bud) Bradburn, 79 of Maryville died Monday morning, September 13, 2004. He was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII with the 30 INF in Normandy. He was a Bronze Star recipient and a POW for nine months at Stalag 7A in Germany. He was a member of the Smoky Mountain Chapter of X-POW'S. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years: Gladys Bradburn; parents: John and May Wilson Bradburn; brother: Gene Bradburn; sisters: Lucille Roberts, Dolly King, Jesse Brown. He is survived by his niece and husband: Kim and Layne Gillespie; special grandson: Austin Gillespie; brothers-in-law: Dexter and Genny Jackson, Bill King; sisters-in-law: Barbara Jackson, and Sue Jackson; special nephew: Ralph and Ada Roberts; special niece: Evelyn and Roscoe McKee. Ingram J. Gourley, 64 of Greenback, TN went to be with the Lord Sunday September 12 at Blount Memorial Hospital after a heroic battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Mary (Sue); and son, Justin of Greenback; and sister, Dorris Sweet of Dover, DL; and brother, Guy H. Gourley of Greenback. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin L. Gourley; sister, Bea Clark; and brother Eric. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Wanda Langford of Greenback, Charles and Lucille Long, James and Sharon Lynn of Maryville, Joe and Joan Williams of Friendsville, Brenda Gourley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Leonard and Charlotte Cooper of Daquala, Georgia and Woody and Janie Proffitt of Townsend; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ingram served in the United States Navy for 20 years and was also a long time store owner and operator of Gourley's General Store in Greenback. The family will recieve friends on Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. with funeral services to follow at Niles Ferry Baptist Church in Greenback. William C. Mitchell, age 81 of South Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004 at the Baptist Hospital. He was veteran of the U.S. Army, member of the 610th Engineers attaining the rank of a Tech 5, serving during WWII in which he was awarded 5 Bronze Stars. His campaigns included Normandy, Northern France, and Central Europe. He retired from the Candora Marble Mill. preceded in death by his wife, Deola Mitchell; and two sons, Robert L. and Stanley E. Mitchell. He is survived by his children, William H Mitchell and wife Angie, Dennis W. Mitchell and wife Sharon, Patsy L. Smith and husband J.C., Bonnie K. Beeler and husband Wayne, Tammy D. Ramey and husband Jeff, Shelia R., Morgan and husband David, Kenneth W. Mitchell and Nancy, and Fred A. Mitchell and wife Rosie; 21 grandchildren and several great-grand and great-great grandchildren; brother, Walter S. Mitchell of Napa, CA; and sister, Frances Linginfelter of Knoxville. Sarah Lou Speer, age 81 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2004, at her home. She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Speer; sisters, Jane Greenlee and Juanita Coulter; brother, Bob Stephens.
