FREDRICK REECE CLARK
Fredrick Reece Clark, age 77, of Maryville, went to be with the Lord, Monday morning, September 6, 2004, at his home. He was a wonderful husband and a great father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed. He served in the Navy in the 1940s and retired from TVA. preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Thomas Clark and Cordia McMillan Clark; sisters, Ethel Starritt, Pearl Huffstetler, Violet Hall and Edna Caylor; and brothers, Earl and Floyd Clark. Shirley Burchfield Jackson, age 43, of Maryville, died Sunday September 5, 2004, at U.T. Hospital. She was of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by an infant brother. She is survived by her children, Steve and Tammy Sparks of Maryville, Stacy Burchfield of Newport; grandchildren, Tommy, Travis, and Samantha Sparks; companion, Doyle Tipton; brothers, Buddy, Don, Marlie Burchfield, Ernest and Gail Burchfield, Clarence and Carolyn Burchfield; sisters, Velma Cogburn, Joanne Pegg, Wilma and Tom Sparks, Charlotte and Denver Hunt, Darlene and Jim Martin, Jeanette and Scott Curtis, and Norma Gribble, all of Maryville, and Christine Fender of Tellico Plains; several nieces and nephews. James "Bob" Robert Robinson, age 70, of Friendsville, died Sunday, September 5, 2004, at University of Tennessee Hospital Knoxville. Known as "Roundman' to family and friends. Member of Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. He was retired from Vulcan Materials after 49 years of service. preceded in death by father and mother, Quince and Bernice Robinson; stepmother, Lucy Robinson; brother, Tom Robinson; sisters, Imogene Brooks, Rene Franklin, Irene Cunningham; son-in-law, Vergil Clark; and father and mother-in-law, Ed and Mabel Tucker. FRED J. HOLT JR.
Fred J. Holt Jr., age 59, of Louisville, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Saturday evening, September 4, 2004, at his home. He was a member of Saint John's Methodist Church in Maryville and a member of the University of Tennessee Police Department for over 37 years where he was a Senior Patrolman. He was a graduate of Farragut High School. Fred was a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, a member of the N.R.A. and the Fraternal Order of Police. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Edith Roberts; brothers, Edward, Carl, Ross and Claude Roberts; sister, Margaret Marley; and brother-in-law Ray Yardley. Fred is survived by his companion of 29 years, Wanda Hammontree of Alcoa; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Odessa Roberts of Knoxville and brother, Bobby Roberts of Clinton; sister and brother-in-law, Clara Betty and Jack Weaver of Springfield, Va., and sister, Glenda Yardley of Westfield, Ind.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service, 8:00 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Bruce Hensley officiating. The family and friends will meet and leave Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and proceed to Edgewood cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside and interment service with full honors by the University of Tennessee Police Department. DR. MARVIN D. (PETE) PETERSON
Dr. Marvin D. (Pete) Peterson, 67, of Maryville, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Marvin D. Peterson was born in York, Nebraska, on April 14, 1937, and is the son of Ted and Irene Peterson of Loveland, Colo. He graduated from Salina High School in Kansas and attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1963. He completed his residency in Wichita, Kansas, in 1969 and moved to Maryville, where he began his practice with Dr. Jim Proffitt and Dr. John Yarbrough.
During the course of his 30-year medical practice, he served at various times as the Chief of Surgery at Blount Memorial Hospital, and also as Chief of Staff. He had a long affiliation with the Kiwanis Club, the Library Foundation, Boy Scouts of America and served as an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. He is a faithful member of the Maryville Church of Christ. He is also a founding member and longtime advocate of the Hospice Program. Marvin was also a proud lifetime member of the NRA, an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He contributed his time and money to related programs in which he believed including Ducks Unlimited, The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and numerous other such organizations that shared his affinity for the outdoors. His passion for healing and his love of the outdoors and small-town life led him from the plains of Kansas and Nebraska to the rolling hills of East Tennessee. Dr. Peterson was known for his overwhelming compassion for his patients and their families. The scores of those whose lives he touched through medicine is the cornerstone of his life. No one who ever met him came away without an understanding of the deep love and dedication he brought to his medical practice. Healing the sick was his mission in life and he pursued it with vigor, fortitude and with an unerring sense of humor for which he is well known and for which he will be long remembered in the hearts and minds of all those who were blessed enough to meet, know and love him. His love of medicine was matched only by his dedication to and love of his family. Generous to a fault, he was a rock of stability and an inspiration and role model to those of us who must follow in the giant footprints he left behind. A good man, faithful Christian, proud husband and father in life, we celebrate his memory and legacy with his passing.
Marvin D. Peterson is survived by his loving wife, Nancy A. Fordyce Peterson; daughter, Kristina A. Peterson; sons, Charles E. Peterson and David C. Peterson; two sisters, Verna Del Sullivan and Judy Driscoll; and his eight grandchildren, Matthew B., Jessica L., Katherine I., Anna E., Jacob G., Caroline E., Angela K. and Katherine O. Peterson.
The family will receive friends at their home at 1149 N. Heritage Dr. on Monday, Sept. 6, and Tuesday, Sept. 7. The funeral service will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Maryville Church of Christ with Dan Chambers officiating. The family will also receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until funeral time at the church and immediately follow at the service. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at Grandview cemetery for the interment. Bobby Ray Sanders, age 63, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from TVA. preceded in death by father, Robert Sanders; father-in-law, Shields Turnmire; brother-in-law, John E. Turnmire.
Survivors include: mother, Alice Sanders; wife of 16 years, Becky Sanders; children, Mark Sanders and wife Dana of Maryville, Debbie Mainor; stepchildren, Josh Amburn of Maryville, K.C. Fish and husband David of Alcoa; grandchildren, Chase and Chad Sanders, Robert Bo, Michelle, and Heather Mainor, Nicholas Fish; mother-in-law, Roena Turnmire of Walland; special friends, Jim and Fonda, Angel and many others.

Benjamin Travis 'Ben' Cox, age 27 of Knoxville, passed away Monday, August 30, 2004. He attended Sevier Heights Baptist Church, was employed at Nature's Pantry in Knoxville and was a full-time student at Tusculum College. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, John Perkins and Fred Cox; uncle, John P. Perkins.
Survivors include: parents, Bill and Lois Cox of Greenback; sister and brother-in-law, Stacie and Mark Smith of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Andrea Cox of Heidelberg, Germany; grandmothers, Imogene Perkins of Kimball, NE, and Anna Lee Cox of Kimball, NE; nephews, Emmett Smith and Bradley Cox; niece, Katherine Smith; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

STELLA ANN (HAYES) FELL EDWARDS
Stella Ann (Hayes) Fell Edwards, age 66 of Friendsville was carried into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and finally won the ultimate battle. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Friendsville. Mrs. Edwards was dedicated to her family and she often documented her family reunions with pictures and films. Hobbies included going to yard sales with family members. She loved her husband, sons, daughter and grandchildren very much. Her daughters-in-law and sisters-in-law were always considered as her own daughters and sisters. She left on a legacy that will be carried on from generation to generation and will be embedded into the minds of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: parents, J. D. and Nellie Hayes. Reba Louise Henry Hipps, age 93, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday August 31, 2004 at the family home. preceded in death by husband Connie Hipps; sons, Odus Hipps and Steve Hipps; daughter, Ruby Todd; parents, William and Addie Jenkins Henry. Randy Lee Law, age 44 of Rockford died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was an employee of Rockford Manufacturing for 12 years and was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was coach for the Rockford Tigers Youth Football Team. Beatrice Marie Martin, age 82 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday night September 1, 2004 at Fairpark Healthcare. She was retired from Levi Strauss with 17 Years of service. She was of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by her husband: Lee Herald Martin; sons: Jimmy and Ray Martin; grandson: Todd Sutton; granddaughter: Ginger Martin. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Doyle and Virginia Martin, Bobby and Doris Martin, and Elmer Martin; daughters and sons-in-law: Jean and James Martin, Joyce and Jean James and Judy Sutton all of Maryville, Brenda Ridings of Walland; sister: Doris of Michigan; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
