Charles M. 'Pappy' Hammontree, age 78 of Greenback, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 2, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, Greenback. Retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 Year Club. Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.
Preceded in death by parents, Robert F. and Maude Brewer Hammontree; brothers, Joe, Jimmy, Harry Hammontree, Melvin Hammontree; sister, Ruth Hammontree Bright.
Survivors: wife, Betty Clark Hammontree; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill Raper of Madisonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Chucky and Joy Hammontree of Greenback, Randy and Angie Hammontree of Greenback; 2 granddaughters; 5 grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters; 1 step granddaughter; 1 step grandson; sister, Louise Linginfelter of Greenback; brothers, Kenneth Hammontree of Maryville, R.L. LINDA SUE LAMBERT HARLESS
Linda Sue Lambert Harless, age 61 of Alcoa, died Monday, January 1, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church and was a retired school teacher with the Blount County School System. She was preceded in death by her son, Roger Harless; father, Homer Lambert and brother, Wallace Lambert.
Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Dean Wicks of Maryville, Kay and David Loy of Memphis, Liz and Greg Johnson of Indianapolis; 5 grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Homer Lambert of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Jon Brown of Ohio; sisters, Freida Jane West of Maryville, Carolyn Lambert of Atlanta; brother, Harold Lambert of Mississippi; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Alcoa First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Green officiating. A private burial service will be held at Grandview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alcoa First United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 617 Gilbert, Alcoa, TN 37701.

MAXIE MIXON JOHNSON
Maxie Mixon Johnson, age 91 of Maryville, Tennessee, formerly of Ocilla, Georgia, passed away Sunday morning, December 31, 2000 in Maryville. Maxie was born November 18, 1909 In Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Wright and Susan Tucker Mixon. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville. Maxie was a first-grade teacher at Sam Houston Elementary School in Maryville from 1961 until her retirement in 1973. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ishmael Herman Johnson Sr.
Survivors: sons, Herman Johnson Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, David Michael Johnson and wife Jean Alexander of Maryville; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2001 at the Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia, for graveside services with Elder Proctor officiating. STELLA MARIE ROGERS
Stella Marie Rogers, age 58 of Maryville, died Sunday December 31, 2000 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Loving and devoted wife and mother, went to be with the Lord December 31, 2000.
Survived by her husband, John Rogers; daughters and son-in-law, Angie and Michael Thompson, Cindy Epperson, Peggy Guffey; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Vanessa Rogers; six grandchildren; brothers, Johnny, Bobby, Fred, Virgil and Edward Guffey; sisters, Sandra Hudgens, and Barbara Blankenship, all of Maryville, Reba Sweet of Knoxville; a host of very special friends in Christ.
Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1102 Big Springs Rd. with Pastor Tom Hatley officiating.

OLLIE M. WEBB
Ollie M. Webb, 88, Muncie died Sunday afternoon at Ball Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Blount County, Tennessee, the daughter of James and Nora Ellen Patty Ferguson, and attended schools there. She worked in Baltimore, Maryland Shipyards during World War II, and moved to Muncie in 1959.
Mrs. Webb worked for several laundries including Northwest Plaza, and Clock's Laundry on 12th Street for 30 years before retiring in 1991. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her six children: Larry Webb (wife-Rustina), Muncie, Charles Webb (wife-Betty), Muncie, Jewell Wilhoite (husband-Joseph), Shelbyville, Lynn Potter (husband-Bud), Albany, Fay Haines (husband-John), Winchester, Marion Shelton (husband-Clyde), Muncie; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Parks Webb, to whom she was married
on April 12, 1929, and he died on June 29, 1953; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; her parents; a sister; two brothers; and a half-brother.
A private committal service will be held on Thursday at Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to Riley Hospital for children, Indianapolis, Indiana.
HARLESS, LINDA SUE LAMBERT, 61, Alcoa, died Monday, Jan. 1, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a retired school teacher with Blount County Schools.

HUSKEY, RAYMOND 'RED, ' 63, Maryville, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Baptist Hospital. He retired from the University of Tennessee Medical Center as director of Plant Maintenance.
